Cost of Flying Scooters?

Acoustic Viscosity's avatar
So now that I've finally learned the Jedi art of snapping, I am absolutely obsessed with flying scooters. Over the weekend, I was talking with a friend about buying a set. The simplicity of the ride seems like it would be a fairly inexpensive ride. I've been doing a little research trying to figure out how much a new set from Larson would cost and how much a used set from Bisch Rocco might go for, but not finding any price info. Anyone know? No, I'm not seriously thinking I can have my own personal set of flyers anytime soon, but am curious as to what it would take. My friend is much more likely to get her own set before I do, but I do have the land for it. Maybe someday.... ;)

www.italintl.com

P.S. I'll take one Rock-O-Plane, since you're treating... :)

edit: NO flying scooters for sale? Bummer!

edit #2: WHAT is this? From what park? Bueller? Anyone? http://www.italintl.com/detail_page.php?record_id=822

Sometimes you can find a used set around. You can snap 8 tub models if they have enough speed.

Larsons are snappable but not recomended by builder (Or so Im told)

Last I heard were Larsons were somewhere in the 100,000 g range new.

I've seen 8 tubbers on the block for 16,000

Dude! They have two Reverchon Explorers for sale! Drool...

So wish I had the funds to buy these for my home park and let them take care of them for me.

Thanks for the link, Bill. Still looking for flyers...

Hey locals. We only need $230,000 to buy Adventureland a "new" flitzer! ;)

Man, this is as addictive as eBay.

Thanks, Chuck. I can snap the 8-tub Larsons, well one set anyway. ;) Why oh why did Adventureland have to get rid of their scooters for the freakin' Balloon Race? :(

If Craig gets too involved in this, it might become "widow-shopping"... ;)

Those prices may look pretty attractive, but many of the rides on the site will require an extensive rehab just to get it running like new.

^^ Forgot about rides4u, it's been awhile since that particular pipe-dream went away, LOL. But the Wildcats remain, no buyers for them AMAZES me...

Hard not to notice, NO flying scooters. Did Dick K. buy them all up so his would have parts *in perpetuity*?

Aparently Dick K did buy that set that was on Ebay last winter.

His tubs are getting worn out.

Yeah, I know there would be additional costs, such as refurbishment, shipping, and installation, etc... Last weekend at IB, I was speculating that Air Crow's platform over the water and overall construction costs may have been more than the actual ride.
At such an "affordable" price, it's amazing more parks don't have flying scooters! They need to be enlightened. ;)

Don't be greedy. ;) I'll be more than happy to take one of those Explorers from you. Thank you.

Yeah, I miscommunicated that. I only want one. "These" was refering to additional goodies. I haven't ridden an Explorer in at least 15 years. Those things rock! Gator got to ride on a couple of weeks ago. :p

^ What can I say, I'm a flatride junkie...we didn't even "Hang Ten", Matt....we hung TWENTY! Ohio State Fair turned out to be a perfect addition to the trip!

Even got what I believe was my first ride on an Anton Polyp (as far as I can remember, anyhow)....East River Crawler... :)

...and yes, it will ALL be in the mega-TR/photo review. Finally got all the pics organized on the work 'puter today... :)

$253,000 to be exact (although that was the 2005 price, so that may have changed slightly since then).

Putting the 'odd' in Todd since 1976...

Again, why doesn't EVERY park have these?

I agree that Adventureland needs one. Of course, I wouldn't be agains the park getting a Boomerang or SLC either -- they really need a new looping coaster at the park.
