Thisis only one of many quotes from this thread where you sound like you've got a lot of potential to be a "career res lifer." ;)

Must... resist... poking fun... (I was an RA for two years, thanks)...

There is a distinction to be made as well, in that Pat is "old enough" to form his opinion with "real life" to back it up. I guess where I take issue is with the people who are barely 21 or younger. My cousin just graduated, but was not an on-campus student, and even that makes a difference in his personality.

Crap, maybe Dawn is right, and all of that res life brainwashing crap was true!

Does your edit multiply the irony? :)

Forgive me...long day...besides, I think it nicely illustrated my point. ;)

That was to add my Pancake Day sig and add italics. Jeff's code seems to choke on multiple links. Nice try tho.

Besides, I wasn't making any points about spelling, hmmmmmm?

Some of you guys are so mean. Teenagers really aren't that bad, im 14 and you don't see me starting these threads ;)

Im not sure if you remember how hard it is to be a teenager..i mean its hard to get independence to do things (amusementparks) and to actually get a job that pays enough money. And what sfne dude is trying to say is there are better things that he'd rather spead his money on than coaster buzz club. Which is fine, but instead of getting a membership i blew my money on that awful seaworld game..now THAT was a bad move.

I think its sort of obvious that life isn't easy..no matter what age, unless your a kid under 13....i mean no matter what there are always problems and my 14 year old brain tells me that theres no point to argue about respect..we are all in this world together and yet we are fighting about who deserves more respect...

And i don't believe with the other teen that said on the carowinds zone forum about how parents can't push us around. They can and should, there the ones paying for us to live in their house...

Actually, I think we're discussing, at this point, the value of a college degree and/or college experience.

I suppose what it comes down to is your ability to communicate and solve problems. Heck, you could learn that just about anywhere. College does offer a wide variety of ways to hone these skills. Then the question becomes how much do you want to pay for it and what you'll get out of it.

I agree with CoaterPlayer all the way; you'd better shop around. ;)

Me? I took classes that were interesting, but did not necessarily add up to a degree. You could say that I have a 4-year degree in Janfredology.

I agree with Jeff on this one, although I can also understand Lord Gonchar's point of view. I swear we had a discussion like this over on CampusFish, but hell if I can remember where. As for me, I'm majoring in Hangover Management.

Joe,

take two Tylenol, drink a glass of water, and eat something sweet before you go to bed roasted. It always worked for me.

Water alone should do the trick, since it's the dehydration that causes the headache. This is however compounded if you're a big coffee/soda drinker, because in your body's need to get rid of the alcohol, it also pushes out the caffeine. If you're an addict like I am, that causes headaches.

What time does the water show start?

Yeah I usually try to get as much water in me as possible before going to sleep and immediately after waking up. It's usually the nausea that kills me more than the headache, although I've been very good about handling my stuff lately.

Kebab....chilli sauce........3 pints of water and another one on stand-by when you wake up. 10 hours sleep and the love of a good woman.

Hangover cured.

I always had good luck with a bottle or two of Gatorade in the morning...that is, if I was too hammered to remember to take Advil or drink water the night before.

Odd how the topic keeps shifting...

Ahh, I did the RA thing for about two years also.

Anyway, I believe that college especially for kids that live off campus is one of the best teachers. Plus, you can't pledge for a Frat if you're not in college :)

NUPE!

Ugh...don't even get me started on frats.

The problem with the "experience" thing at college it that it goes both ways. Maybe I'm just a cynical outcast, but I went to a pretty selective college, and most of the people there seemed to come out more egotistical and juvenile than when they started. A bunch of tools would find each other and create this little bubble of a world in which they were the smartest, coolest misunderstood geniouses of the century. Half of my classmates thought they were brighter than the professors, and would continue to argue a point even after they were proven wrong. They became as dependant on the dorm or frat life as they had been on their parents at home. Because of their "college experience," they are entering the world with this delusion, and the onset of real life is just a fall from that much higher.

On the other hand, most of my friends during those four years either went to different schools or were out in the "real world." I still had plenty of wonderful, memorable experiences with them completely independent of my status as a college student. I met my girlfriend right before I entered college, and my "out of college" experiences with her are responsible for 99% of the "growing up" I did over those years. (Boy, I sure "like" to use "quotation marks" haha.)

I came out of college with much less respect for it as an institution, and actually recommended to my sister that she shouldn't go, at least not before she knows that her goals in life require it. As I am planning to become a professional scientist, I have to go through at least four more years of graduate school, but I am supplementing this with lots of independent learning as I am not satisfied with the college system.

Maybe I should have been born in medieval times, but I think something like the old apprentice system would actually be much more effective than the current (American) higher education that I have experienced. I still had some great experiences with a few outstanding classes and professors, but I feel like the experience as a whole was very inefficient and way overpriced.

Anyway, that's my two cents (about 4 days after everyone else is done talking about it and has moved on).
