If four weeks allowance is too much money for you to spend on the site, don't spend the money.

For the love of God, though, shut the hell up about it already. Nobody gives a rat's ass that you think $20 is too much money. Go to school, get a job and become upwardly mobile or something.

Perhaps it's time for CoasterBuzz to receive a law similar to Godwin's Law. As a CB discussion grows longer, the probability of someone complaining about club membership approaches one. Seriously, I've actually read so much complaining over the last few months, that I can actually predict it before it happens.

Maddie gets to the real core of the issue. Nobody cares if you think it's not worth $20, and if it really didn't bother you, you wouldn't bring it up every chance you get. It's like the old "I didn't want it anyway" kind of thing.

Clearly 401 people in the last 365 days find some value in it, for whatever reason, maybe only because they want to contribute to something they enjoy using everyday. There's a crazy idea.

What time does the water show start?

Is there really any need for all of this? Some people find the value in spending $20 a year for member only things, and some do not. At least CB didn't turn into IGN, where you can barely do anything at that site without paying.

Many fail to realize the costs associated with running a web site. It is certaintly a twisted web when it comes to sites. The general idea for most is to attract visitors, but the more visitors, the more costs. Who should bear the load of that costs? Jeff has simply split the two, the general users see ads which is a way for Jeff to pay, while he has given others the insentive to pay a yearly fee.

It appears that this discussion has turned into a gender gap talk, and not a simple discussion over money. To be honest, when I was 14, and I wanted money, I just asked around to see if anyone needed something to be done. You can easily earn $20 in almost no time. But its not a question of it you can, it is a question if the effort justifies the results.

I think I can stop now. Jello shots make me hyper.

Save your pennies. I have like $40 bucks in coins laying around. I'd get a club membership, but I kinda wrecked my car 2 months ago and need a new one...

SFNE Dude - Since your only 14 I suppose we can bring up something even more insane for $20 than membership on this site. Just wait till you start driving and pay for whatever goes along with your car and see how fast $20 goes. $20 on gas might last you up to 2wks depending on vehicle and your driving habits, but atleast membership you get a whole year.

We do not, and I agree with SFNE dude....That is too much money for two features.....Coasterdom does it for free.
Well y'all did the same thing to me awhile ago.....

Are you on drugs? Working part time in the local grocery store for three or four hours would give you more than enough money to support Coasterbuzz for an entire year.

Funny, you still come on this site... you complain about Jeff soliciting money from people who care about the site and want to see it prosper in the future, yet you still solicit money from people to support your idiotic Coaster Preservation club or whatever the hell it is, which seems to offer nothing. Or are you still claiming to sell lifetime passes to every amusement park in the world for a grand?

Jeff has the right idea... you don't. Therefore, you should just keep your mouth shut.

I'd bet good money that if Jeff advertised it as $2 a month (thereby making an extra $4 a person), no one would complain about the "outrageous cost" of this site. Same psyche as charging $9,999 for a car then bragging about it being under 10 grand. That said, I think the $40 in two years I've spent on this site is well worth the lack of ads and the few extra perks I got at CoasterMania '03 this year.

Side note: Maddie can I use that teenager quote? That's priceless ... (especially since I'm far enough away from being one that I can make fun of them now)

LOL! SFNE Dude, first go through a few years of college, then try to get a job, and then come back and say you're smarter than 50% of people on this site.

When I was in high school, I thought I was smart because my ACT score was 3 points higher than anyone else in my class. But when I got to college, I found that most people I asked had gotten even higher scores. D'oh!

Well, d3/\/, he did say he was smarter and more mature than 50% of the people on the site....he's probably right about the maturity thing, ROFL, so there's your 50% right there...;)

Wisdom....that's the key....unfortunately, by the time you get it, you realize you probably weren't really all that smart in the first place.

My ACT was a 29... top 4% in the country that year. The only thing I learned is that high school was really boring to me, and college wasn't going to be much different.

What time does the water show start?

I didn't go to college. I thought it was unfair to have to pay to get exactly what I got at high school for free.

So all I do now is whinge about how much College costs and I keep going to high school because it's free. ;)

The cost of dorm rooms: Way too much money for a freakin closet with beds.

The cost of credit hours: Too expensive to be worth the peice of paper you get in the end.

The cost of being able to go to a ton of parties, drink, and get laid whenever you want: Priceless.

Back to the topic:
No one is forcing anyone to pay anything. It is your choice solely. But I would bet no matter how much you whine and complain if Coasterbuzz were to go away you would be whining and complaining that it is gone.
