Conneaut Lake reopening for 2009...

I am glad they ar eworking so hard to reopen Conneaut! I miss that little park! I hope for the best for them! The people have been working so hard to raise money and save it! I wish that Geauga Lake had the same chance! it would take a miracle and alot of money to even try to re-open the rides in that park considering the Dipper, Carousel, and parts of The Ragging Wolf Bobs are the only rides still there along with the buildings that need a ton of work! I do keep my hopes up for the future of Geauga Lake... you never know!!!!

Sounds like you're setting yourself up for a huge letdown, dsloban. GL amusement park is gone. I would hope that in the future, the waterpark would add some coasters and flat rides though. That would be very cool.

Here, read this twice. Conneaut Lake Park will be intact, 2009, 2010, 2011, etc. Geauga Lake will not.

Wow, this is the first I have heard this news and am SO glad...that park is like a little mini-West View to me!

I am so glad to learn that the park wasn't sunk due to it's ongoing financial woes, and was particularly worried that the major fire would have certainly sealed it's fate....glad, unlike Idora, the fire didn't take out its star attraction, anyway.

I noticed someone else also said the Toboggan always evaded them, too... I have been trying to ride one since about 1969 in Atlantic City... everywhere I have ever seen one, it's down every time. Now maybe another chance.... :)

The Toboggan at Little A-Merrick-A near Madison, WI has always been open when I've vistsed. Is Lakemont's still there?...that was always open when I was at the park too.

I have all the toboggan credit of which you speak. :)

On-topic, yay for Conneaut... gonna have to make a trip out there. Blue Streak or not, I decided some time ago that when/if it reopened, I was going to visit.

And on the tangent -- when I went to Lakemont last July, the toboggan was open and (painfully!) running. Talk about stapling... lol

Edited b/c I apparently don't know the name of the coaster. Bright...

Besides the previously mentioned Toboggans, Trimper's also has one down in OC, MD. It was open when we were there last summer.

One credit on a Toboggan is enough for me! OUCH!

;)

Seriously. Smash your forehead on one Toboggan, you've smashed your forehead on them all.

I look forward to riding them. It might be a little masochistic, but there's something pretty fun about knowing what you're in for, but still sucking it up and getting in line.

"Oh God, here we go..." :)

I hope you're more than a little! ;)

I rode the one at Lakemont a few times. I skipped it more than I rode it.

I can't stand how you have to cram your body into the car. I don't like to sit with my legs straight out like that. The only part of the ride that isn't a drag is the very moment you level out and come out of the tunnel. Everything before and after that is a total suckfest, including walking up and down the steep, wobbly steps to the ride platform.

Well said! Reminds me of getting my taxes done.

This will be a definite stop if I do that "road trip" to Hershey this year.

I am glad to hear things are looking up for Conneaut! I hope for the best for the park! I would make a visit this year for sure!
