Swoosh might know the answer to this...has there been any inkling of when an official announcement will come from WOF????
Nothing official yet. They just got this back from the trademark office...
...So that might hold up the official press release.
Current Status: A non-final action has been mailed. This is a letter from the examining attorney requesting additional information and/or making an initial refusal. However, no final determination as to the registrability of the mark has been made.

Hello, I am a coaster enthusiast and have seen the filing for the trademark name The Patriot. http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=76622482 . And I have seen photos of patriotic track that is being shipped to your park http://rcdb.com/ig3244.htm . I was wondering if you could release what type of coaster it is going to be? Inverted? Flying? Floorless? Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Here is the response I recieved:
Hello Christopher,
Thank you for your interest in Worlds of Fun. Worlds of Fun has not made any announcement regarding the information you mentioned. We do have many new additions to the park for 2005, including the Worlds of Fun Village resort, Peanuts Playhouse in Camp Snoopy, and The Perondi's Extreme Canine show.
We hope to see you this season.
Sincerely,
Chris Ozimek

Just count the number of bolt holes. Patriot has 5 down one side. Silver Bullet has 7. The Super Man Ultimate Flight picture in the center of this: http://www.rcdb.com/ig1976.htm?picture=9 picture has 5. We can only pray.
The number of bolt holes has only to do with the depth of the spine which is directly related to the force being exerted on that part of the ride. If you look around on both coasters, you'll find that the number of bolt holes changes throughout the ride.
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
You can only hope, plus I thought he would tell me after I slipped him that 1 dollar bill under the table.

Look at the cross ties on:
Floorless:

Inverted:

Flying:

As you may notice, the floorless are more sqaure, and the inverted and flying are identical. So it is either an inverted or flying. However, I believe it would be a flyer because of it's backbone. But yet who knows.
The flyers seem to go to parks that already have everything else. WOF needs a sitdown, full circuit looper to complete it's "standard" coaster collection and then maybe later move to more novelty coasters. I'm actually suprised that it's not a floorless since Dorney just received one and Six Flags St.Louis already has an invert 3.5hrs away. But that makes for an interesting strategy because next year I won't need to drive all the way to St.Louis to get my inverted coaster fix.
Kudos to Worlds of Fun for finally putting in a major attraction that will make me start buying season passes again :)
Inverts have been around since 1992. Flyers since 2002 and only four exist. Odds are if a park that already had B&M coasters also built a flyer it would be after they had an invert.
As for proximity of inverts Knotts seems to be doing quite well with the taller, longer, and faster Silver Bullet while the shorter, smaller, and slower Batman is 60 miles up the road.
I would love for it to be a flyer, but, I will be happy with anything from B&M.
