I cannot wait to be back at this event. Had a blast last year! And I'm Frrreeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..... Bunky and Kate! Awesome time. Mike, you owe me a trip counter. By the way. MY trip counter. By the way! :)

Bunky, could not do this without you. Don't worry. I will repay the kindness. Pay it forward so they say.

Little more portly since last year. So it'll be interesting. At least I'll be with my great friends. Thats all that matters.

You blew your chance at the counter when I saw you in September the day of the power failure ;) I see they're not offering one this year. Look forward to seeing you, Johnny.

I still have a shot at my $1000 goal. I'm at $765. One CBer has already helped me out tremendously. If anyone else would like to, the link is in my signature. They're hoping to have donations by June 1, to allow for accuracy, prize determination, etc. There's still room on my train for anyone who wants to ride with me..in spirit, anyway...

Looks like all the parks combined are getting close to $100,000. It's hard to tell. The park totals do not incluse the initial $25 registration fee, but I'm sure that's included when they say how much they raised. Currently, adding them all up, it's at $93,495

Some folks are really very generous. A contributor who had already made a very generous donation doubled up and did it again! i'm now at $865 toward my $1000 goal!

One of my favorite fellows and one of my favorite causes. You're welcome.

I'm only five dollars away from my goal. Anyone care to help a girl out? :)

I too could use some help. Have thus far been able to raise only $105. If anyone could donate $5 or $10 it would be greatly appreciated. Here's the link to my participant page: http://support.gktw.org/site/TR/CoastingForKids/General?pg=pfind&fr...ubmit=true

Was looking at the coaster lineup for some other parks (I'm at Dorney) and noted that at Carowinds it's 7 1/2 hours on Afterburn. Well, I love that coaster but 7 1/2 hours?

Bobbie

Thank you Bobbie! :) I'll be sure to return the favor asap!

I looked at Carowinds' schedule after seeing your comment and it's just crazy. 7 1/2 hours on Afterburn, though maybe with a break/breaks for lunch and awards ceremony. But then they don't seem to have anything scheduled between 5:30 pm and 8 pm.

Thanks, Ryann! And Bunky, I'm happy to help in whatever small way I can. As to Afterburn, although it's easily re-ridable I think a better decision for Carowinds would have been to allot more time to Thunder Road, which is also pretty user-friendly. Definitely not Nighthawk, which is hardly conducive to multiple repeat rides and takes too long to load. At Dorney the choices are pretty obvious b/c there are so few - and the park has the good judgment to allot the least amount of time to the least likely candidate for marathoning.

Bobbie

Plus, with Thunder Road getting shut down (officially) soon, it would be nice for those folks to get some re-rides in.

Thank you Ryann! Appreciated very much!

Thunder Road getting shut down? Hadn't heard this. Too bad, as it's a much better ride than Hurler - at least in terms of not getting beaten up.

Bobbie

It was apparently announced on Carowinds' website and has a closing date towards the end of July.

I'm surprised they don't do a little bit of CFK on Fury. I'd imagine you couldn't ride it too much in a row, but a whole day of riding an invert? Yikes!

Fury is probably still too popular to be reserved for an extended period of time for CFK, even on one train. Can you imagine the bellyaching on Coasterbuzz if Carowinds blocked off an entire train on a Saturday for some other reason?

Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."

Yeah, I totally can. I did Riding of the Bull a few years ago, and people were pretty ticked that Toro was shut down for an hour or two for the event. I can only imagine the...ahem, Fury if the newest baddest ride had a dedicated train on a Sunday. Eesh.

Still, why not Thunder Road then? Or Intimidator?

Bunky and Bobbie, you're both very welcome. And Bobbie, thanks for your donation as well.
