Coasting For Kids 2015: Save the date!

Hi, all,

I have registered for CFK at Dorney Park on June 7. A few folks here on CB have been very generous in supporting my efforts the past few years. If those folks would like to help out again, that'd be awesome. If anyone else would like to do so...well, that would be just as awesome. If I did it right, a link to my fundraising page should appear as part of my signature below. Thanks to all, and I appreciate your support...financial and otherwise!

If anyone is able to toss a few dollars my way for the event, I'd be very grateful as well!

I finally registered! Here's hoping we don't have any water main breaks this year.

Also, I'm glad to see the online interface is much improved! I wonder how soon they'll post the itineraries? Someone commented on Facebook that the CP rides may be switched up this year.

If any of our fellow 'Buzzers care to donate, here's my link: http://support.gktw.org/goto/bryanbird

(BTW fellow participants, if you go to edit your personal page, look for the spot where you can set a Personal Page URL, for a link that's less unwieldy than the default.)

Thanks for that tip, Bird! My link works better now, taking potential donors directly to my page.

Looks like the itinerary for CP has been posted, and indeed it's different this year:

8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. - Millennium Force
9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. - Wicked Twister
10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Rougarou
12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. - lunch at Lakeside Pavilion
2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. - Gemini
5:30 p.m. - awards ceremony near Gemini

In addition, the prizes are different -- the top level is 4 tickets and 4 meal vouchers, plus a CP prize pack. Previously it had been a VIP tour.

Kinda cool to have the variety of rides this year. Although, part of the "work" before (if you can call it that) was marathoning the same ride most of the day. Riding Millennium for an hour is just blissful ERT. :) WT on the other hand... I might need earmuffs.

That's a really fantastic list of rides, especially for us since we're no longer local. I kind of like having that formal break in the middle, too.

Also, Carowinds has a half-hour early morning on Fury and half hour at night on Thunder Road. All other time is on Afterburn! And Kings Dominion is ending the event at 1:30 PM, following sessions on Dominator and Rebel Yell.

I'll be at Dorney. No change to the line-up, but the event will now run until 6pm. We'll now get a full two hours each on Steel Force and Talon, plus a half our in the morning TBA..probably Stinger or Possessed, although I'd be thrilled if it was Thunderhawk.

Oh, yeah, and two hours on Hydra...

Travis, have you given any more thought to joining us?

Donations still being accepted at the link in my signature!

Probably not this year, Mike. There is just so much stuff going on around that time of the year. A Graduation, a wedding, a family reunion, and sometime around there a visit to family and friends in VA and NC. Busy, busy, busy.

Well, we're 5 weeks out from the event, and my donations have dried up. I've done my best, but I knew it would be difficult this year due to losing my job last summer after 18 years. Many of my contributors to CFK the last four years were clients and co-workers. A couple came through again, but it's tough. If anyone from Coaster Buzz would like to help out, my page link is with my signature. I've gotten some awesome support from some folks here in the past, and I'm very thankful for that. I had surgery late last year that makes it more difficult for me to get around parks, but I'm pushing myself to do this. I'd never have known about the event if it wasn't for CoasterBuzz, so they're intertwined for me. Thank you, and I'm looking forward to riding Steel Force! And Talon! Oh, yeah, I also get to ride Hydra for two hours. Yay.

Hey, $500+ is nothing to sneeze at. Well done!

Thanks, Jeff. I've been so fortunate to raise over $1000 each of my previous four years, I guess I'm spoiled. There's a few folks I hope will come through. Five weeks is a long time, so we've got a chance to hit 1K.

5 weeks out is the earliest I've ever donated. Procrastination fail.

Hi

I am also in procrastination zone. I'll get off my butt eventually.

I'm not even at the minimum yet and getting a little nervous I won't be able to participate. This year has been pretty lean all around for many people, but I'm hoping to see this through. Any help would be much appreciated.

Situation resolved. ;)

If anyone still needs some bucks, I have a few left to give.
