Coasting For Kids 2014

Johnnyecks, it's not really necessary to PLAN to meet....the hardcore group of about 30 people that rides the entire time is mostly together anyway. I'm the heavy bald guy with glasses hanging with three beautiful women (hopefully) :)

Oh, and take a look at your private messages.

Justin, I had sent you a PM a while back when I saw you'd be at Dorney. Look forward to seeing you too. We can volley, man.

Of course, Mr. Ecks will only be able to volley with Mike if he raises the $75 minimum... Any chance we have 2 more Buzzers willing to spare $10 to get him there?

(As far as I can tell, everyone else who's posted links has collected the minimum.)

I'm not getting into a menage-a-trois with johnnyecks AND sirloindude. It only takes two to volley....

Mike, flattery will still not guarantee you back seat rides. ;) actually, I jest. We share nicely.

Johnny, I'll be the chubby blonde that does not stop bouncing up and down. If you haven't run into is, I will be the one dancing all goofy to Harlem Shake at the Steel Force station. I get a tad excited to do this event and hang out with fellow enthusiasts. :)

Just a tad.

Just realized I had never updated my signature to reflect my 2014 CFK fundraising link. Should be there now. If it gets me an extra 5 bucks, that'll be great...but let's not stop there. Thanks to those who have donated, including one CBer and friend.

Hahah! I can't wait to meet everyone! I'm really looking forward to this. I'll be the short chubby guy prob wearing bright neon blue shorts and a random movie reference t-shirt! LOL.

As far as donating, I have gotten cash from several people at work so I have already met the $75, just need to input it into the system. So no need to donate!!! Thank you however! If anyone needs a few bucks, let me know I will help out as well.

Really looking forward to this. I am wondering if I should get the fast pass for the rides in between ERTs.

Question about Steel Force... which is the one I'm looking forward to marathoning on..... how are the restraints? I haven't been to Dorney in 5 years. During my trip to Kings Island last week I was able to fit on everything, even Beast and Diamondback. But Banshee I needed row 4. If I was able to get onto those, would I be ok on SF? What about the other rides, are there big boy rows?

Cannot wait you guys!! If anyone wants to ride along, from NJ, lmk. I'm willing to carpool.

This is only the third event I've ever done (last was Coaster Mania at CP about 10 years ago, and Coaster Madness at Dorney the same year).

Well. you'll have your CFK t-shirt over the movie one for the event.

I'm pretty fat, but SF's lap bar and seat belt give me no trouble.

Interesting that the question of restraints on Steel Force would be raised. One thing that struck me as unusual about this coaster is that it's the only one I've ever ridden on which the lap bar never touched any part of my body - and I've ridden it plenty of times. No comfort issues. One size fits all.

Steel Force may be one size fits all but the T-shirts may not be. Are we required to wear them? I would prefer not to, as there's no guarantee that I could get one that's a good fit and don't feel comfortable in clothing that doesn't fit well. On the other hand, if we're definitely going to get T-shirts I guess it makes sense to wear one, as that way we'll all look like a group united in a good cause.

Anyway, I plan to ride my ass off in appreciation of those who've made donations - a friend just made a donation, bless her heart, getting me almost to my modest goal of $200 - and just hope that I can find my way to Dorney without getting lost. (Have had trouble trying to get there before.)

Coming from Philly, I would take 476N to 78E. It's exit 54A

Is there anything in life that you don't complain about?

I'm serious. I've seen more whining from you on here than anyone else, and you haven't even been around that long. Being an "enthusiast" of something generally means you "enjoy" it - seems like a long shot for you.

You should have been asked your size when you signed up, but if you weren't, I'd contact them. Otherwise you just automatically get a larger size. I got an XL last year, and I was much smaller than I am this year, so it was like a dress. I have the shirt to my husband since it was super comfy and I was too sentimental to toss it.

You DO have to wear the shirt to ride the rides with the group. Plus, that's part of the fun. It's so cool to see the whole group together riding.

Well, if the shirt isn't made of 100% ring-spun Egyptian cotton, recycled at least 4 times, custom tailored and treated with ScotchGuard, I don't want anything to do with it.

I called Give Kids the World and spoke with a groundskeeper, who assured me they would have a tailor on site at each park to take care of any ill-fitting shirts, so I think we're good to go.

I tried to wear my Cedar Point shirt and they wouldn't let me.

But seriously, wearing the event t-shirt is not only a good idea (for ID purposes if nothing else), but I'm sure it makes it fun. It's hardly a fashion show.

Anyone who joins CoasterBuzz Club today, May 29 (click the club link up at the top of the page), I'll donate that entire $25 and then match it dollar for dollar to GKTW. Today only! It's a pretty easy way to donate $50! If you would prefer to just donate outright, you can do that too.

Wow! Jeff, that is VERY generous of you! I signed up. I have thought about signing up a few times over the many years I've lurked. I was going to join this year anyhow, but decided to do it now! Thank you!!
