Coasters you never had a chance to ride.

Flashback...

Roller Coaster's=Adrenaline
Hurricane at Playland Park, Ocean City Maryland. Actually missed the entire park. Spent many a summer vacation at the OC, but for some reason was never able to go to this park. Also, other than the listing on rcdb, I've seen little information about this coaster and/or park--did anyone ever experience this park?

Another park I missed completely was West View. We used to drive past it every summer on our way up to Pymatuming, and my parents always said we'll have to go there someday, but never made it. At least I was able to see the coaster running while driving by on Route 19.

Drachen Fire, and the Bat for sure. Also a lot of the older wooden coasters. Crystal Beach Cyclone comes to mind. I would like to have at least taken one lap on that.
Not a coaster per se, but the Mauch Chunk Switchback. Every now and then there's talk about reconstructing it, but it sounds more like a train excursion type attraction. And every time it gets mentioned, soon after it stops getting mentioned.
The Vampire that was at Kentucky Kingdom...But I dont know if I would want to ride it now...and plus SFKK has never impressed me.

Derk
when i was 7 years old i went to geauga lake for the first time and they still had the corkscrew. I was gonna ride it buit was too scared. 2 years later i went back to GL and it was gone. I was sad. =(

I was there in 1974 or 1975... (thinking back it coudl have been earlier) didn't ride the coaster though. I remember seeing it, but didn't ride it. Oddly enough, the only thing that I really remember riding was a Scrambler and perhaps some kiddie rides.

My memories are a bit foggy on the park... about the only thing I can remember from that vacation was that I came down with some sort of intestinal virus or something and my parents cut our vacation short... I nearly wound up in the hospital from it. NOt feeling that great while at the park, I really wasn't paying much attention.

There was a two floor ride through "haunted House / dark ride" but my parents deemed it "too scary" for me... how they knew since they were never in, I don't know... perhaps my hysterics in the Williams Grove dark ride a year earlier made them think this.

Other than that, I don't remember much about this park. It wasn't very impressive... kind of run down... that I do remember. Like I said... getting sick sort of is all that I can remember from that vacation.

The next time we returned to OC MD, the park was closed and beign torn down.

3 Major Rides spring to mind.

Drachen Fire is one for me. Basiclly It was the year I was really getting into coasters, and while visiting BGW, The coaster was new, and so could have ridden it, but I didnt because I still had a fear of looping coasters. However while on the same holiday, I visited PKD and managed to get over my looping coaster fear by riding Anaconda, I loved every minute of it and even remembering riding Anaconda a second time. Because of this, I really wanted to go back to BGW to try out Drachen Fire but we didnt have time and now I feel extremly GUTTED not riding it because its now Gone of course. I also never rode Big Bad Wolf either, However there is always a chance in the future for that maybe

Xcellerator at Knotts is another one I've missed. While on the ECC American California Trip in 2002, we were due to go to Knotts on its opening day, everything was set, and then the buggers delay its opening by a week or so I think(NOOOOOOOOOOOOO) they even made us go through torture while we saw them test the ride ALL DAY. However there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I should be going back to California in April/May 05 to ride it finally, and to get some rides on Silver Bullet too of course ;)

Lastly, Revenge of the Mummy at universal Florida is the last one. Basiclly I was due to visit Florida in the first week of May, and I thought I would catch the opening of The Mummy because I knew about the soft openings happening, however then Universal decide to be very kind and stop the soft openings for a while for more works, and delay the offical opening as well. I was well annoyed because I knew now it was touch and go. Anyway visited the park anyway, and it was closed(they were kind in letting staff ride it though on the day,GRRRR) and then found out it would open again for more soft openings the week after I was there(I was only staying a week) and so on the saturday when I left, I checked up on the internet, and sure enough on that monday (2 days later after I arrived back home) the ride opens again(Was I gutted,OH YES) What was even more annoying is, someone at my work went in August this year and teased me on how good it was, then my uncle went in November this year and really rubbed it in. I'm sure I will be back in Florida sometime soon in the Future(I love going there) but I dont know when yet so I'm sure I will get my ride on it, but its just a question of When. Of Course I could try the california version on my planned trip there next year, but hear the florida version is far superior compared to the california one, Anyone know for sure who might have ridden both?????

Let me entrertain this topic:

Jokers Jinx at SFFT: SBNO sucks

Texas Tornado SFAW: Why couldn't they get this fixed and leave it at SFAW?

Flashback at SFOT: I still wonder if a Boomerang with an Arrow Train is really all that bad or not. Remember if it a bad headbanger to you doesn't mean its a bad one for me.

1) Joker's Jinx is in Maryland. You meant Poltergeist, which by the way is the best of the four spaghetti bowl coasters
2) Agreed. It sucked to walk around the park and not be able to ride it in 2002.
3) Flashback is a standard boomerang with standard Vekoma trains
SFoT's Flashback most definitely has Arrow trains (as do most Boomerangs).

-Nate

On regards to the trains on SFOT's Flashback, they are Arrow. Vekoma first started using their own trains in 1991 when they built Sidewinder at Hersheypark.

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.
