Coasters you never had a chance to ride.

The Bat (broke while in line.)

Demon at PKI was closed when I went.

I almost didn't get to ride X-Flight at Geauga Lake (at the time it was SFWoA) it broke down for a half an hour but we were allowed to wait in line and we were able to make it on the second train. Lucky us, most of the people got out of line.
I would have to give the obvious Drachen Fire. By the time I got down there it was SBNO. I would have taken a good shot or two from it just to say I experienced it even though I did hear from people I knew that rode it that it was not too bad.

I'll have to say Hypersonic XLC because it had some problems when it first opened, and of course Dragster due to me not being able to get up there yet. I guess that just goes with the whole really fast launching which I have yet to experience.

I guess I could keep going into ones that were around before I was born and such but that would be very long and such.

^I personally never understood all the headbanging complaints circling Drachen Fire, when Vortex, as a strikingly similar ride, beats DF in spades in terms of after-ride earaches.

My missed it by a notch rides would be Screechin' Eagle at LL, and Jack Rabbit at Idora park. I also was one of those that stood next to Thunderbolt at Coney, yet could only analyze it from a distance, as the moss grew silently. I still haven't ridden a few Japanese coasters, like Pyrenees, either.

I will say that I am far luckier than many, though, as I've had the opportunity to get some Japanese coasters that will never be replicated, and/or have been torn down due to the "still lost in the 80s" fabric of the Japanese economy.

The Flying Turns makes all the right people wet - Gonch

I got the impression that he ment rides that are now closed forever? Maybe not. Some coasters I never had a chance to ride was, well it would be easier to just list coasters that I have rode on. 16 and soon to be over 20! lol :)
Really, did you get that impression? I got the impression that I meant this post to be sarcastic. Strikingly similar? I'll let you decide ...
All the coasters ever built minus 135.

sorry, someone had to say it.

Jumbo Jets, Cedar Point and Coney Island.

Cedar Point I was too little and probably chicken at the time and Coney Island wasn't operating when I was there.

I have a couple, Tidal Wave at six flags great america. Z-force. Since Tidal wave has been move to six flags kentucky (under a different name) I may still have a chance to ride it. Same with Z-force being at six flags magic mountain. Plus with me planning a trip in magic mountain in march I never know.
Well, I have missed a few coasters once before, but due to my dad working at northwest and we get to fly for free, i always get a 2nd trip back later on.

Deja Vu at SFMM andSix Flags Great America- now i have been on it over 5 times...one of my favorite rollercoasters

Flashback @ SFMM-Yes, I have been on it once before (when i was like 6 or 7) however on my last trip to SFMM it was down. It was disapointing to see a somewhat good coaster practically rotting away.

Top Thrill Dragster at CP- I have well been on it over 20 times by now, however on my last trip, i stayed at the breakers hotel for 3 days, and for 2 of the days it was closed due to weather. on the third day, it was supposed to be closed due to high winds, but i guess the wind somehow just *stopped* and it was open. then it broke down while i was in line, but only for a hour.

Ninja at sfmm-still have never been on this one. always open when i go, just don't think it looks that great. Iron Dragon and XLR8 are pretty bad anyways...

All I can say (forgive me, Brett) is that if Steel Phantom was half as good as Phantom's Revenge, then it was a good ride.

PR is my #1 coaster, by a long shot at this point.

Looking at your track record, I can kinda see why you rate PR Number 1. Youve got some good ones in there, but Phantoms Revenge is definatley the best. As for the Steel Phantom...I think it was half as good as Phantoms Revenge...if you took out that just plain AWFUL head banging, then it was probably just as good or better than Phantoms Revenge, dissapointingly though, that head banging was quite possibly the worst ive ever experienced on any coaster...

The Millenium Force ride Ops: Squishing you where it counts since 2000. Track Record: 89 coasters

Any coaster with a warning sign that says "Remove all earrings, piercings, tattoos, and even your HEAD" can't be ALL that good, LOL...

PR is *great*, SP had great VIEWS....

Dr. DOOM guy, ride Ninja, it's one of the *best of breed*, the other two suspendeds you mention are pretty blah...even IF you ride DisAstroWorld's *sdrawkcab*...;)

Robbio, I too got to see CI's T-Bolt....at least now SOMEONE is getting use out of that land....what a SHAME though...

Let me entrertain this topic:

King Cobra at PKI: I would of loved to ride this stand up.

Jokers Jinx at SFFT: SBNO sucks

Texas Tornado SFAW: Why couldn't they get this fixed and leave it at SFAW?

Screechin' Eagle at LL: I was very stupid for not going to ride this when I had the chance to at CoasterBuzz Con 1 at PKI.

Flashback at SFOT: I still wonder if a Boomerang with an Arrow Train is really all that bad or not. Remember if it a bad headbanger to you doesn't mean its a bad one for me.

EXT Stand Up at WOF: I wonder how cool this ride was when it had those stand up trains. I was too young to ride back then and it only lasted a year. *** Edited 11/30/2004 4:43:21 PM UTC by Sawblade5***

Chris Knight

The Matterhorn. I have been to Disneyland twice and it has been closed for refurbishment both times.
Deja vu At SFGAm never got to ride it because it opened later in the year and i moved overseas in July....got to ride V2 but still...I needed to ride Deja vu. went back this summer for a vacation, opened, broke, opened, 2 hour wait, 1 hour wait, vallyed, figures. arg... :(
I thought I replied... anyway,
Z-Force, and then again with Flashback, and I almost missed Dragster, but then again, with its reliability, it is probably a common ordeal.
Hypersonic, we were there opening weekend (this year, first visit to PKD) and the trains weren't even loaded on the track. It looked like a smaal part of the track had been disassembled.

Deja Vu at SFGA, we went there last year after stark @ HW, and the train was missing in action.

Batman the chiller @ SFGadv, the batman side wasn't open. (Staffing issue)

And finally Lazer at dorney it rained all day so they didn't open the ride

There is no such thing as a terrible Coaster just ones that haven't been taken care of

One from the annals (that's with two "n"s) of history...

When I was growing up, there was a small park near us called Lakewood (I found it when I did a search on RCDB). There was a pretty large lake that was dammed up and used at one time for swimming-- it was fed by springs and was much larger than the pool at Knoebel's. By the time I was old enough to remember, it was used only for paddleboats.

Along one shore of the lake was a long open area that my relatives told me was where a coaster stood. RCDB calls it the Giant Coaster, but the locals all called it "the scenic." This coaster was gone by the late 60s-- a shame since it was a Miller design. The park was pretty much neglected by its owners, who it seemed never put a dime back into it.

Not sure if this is the reason why the coaster was torn down, but my parents told me a story about a young guy who lived in our neighborhood. Sometime during the early 60s, this guy would have been in his late teens or early 20s. He and some other guys got drunk, got on the coaster, this guy stood up and proceeded to fall off. From how high up, I don't know. Luckily(?), he landed in a quagmire of thick mud which basically saved his life. Obviously, he never seemed quite right after that, but then as my father would say, "he wasn't wrapped too tight" before the accident either.

So whether by owner neglect or because of a stupid accident which is still at least partly owner liability, this coaster was gone by the time I was old enough to ride.

Well, if it is any consolation or reason for you to want to ride it, I thought that Ninja was better than Iron Dragon, and far, far better than XLR-8

Z-Force is the only SFGAm coaster, past or present, that I've never ridden (did I miss anything on it?). During its stay at SFGAm I was afraid of roller coasters - I wouldn't even ride Whizzer.

I was asked to describe Deja Vu in one word. The word? AAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!
