CoasterMania! 2009

Good for you.

Yes, it is. :)

Wow didnt realize the trims ever went on, on my 6 rides they weren't (and with full trains) there is nothing like that return trip when you get a full train with summer temps rolling down those triangle hills.

I think they only issue that people had a problem with was the Maverick line, which was 30-45 min. Every other ERT line was <15 min. The thing is all those other rides can handle 2,000 people no problem but Maverick has a smaller capacity. Another thing that I think had people upset was that they inevidably compared the ERT line to the normal line that day. Both days the park was pretty dead, and on Friday night when I went by it Maverick had a close to the exact wait I waited for ERT then.

I think an easy solution to that was to do what they did with MF/TTD, have another popular ride be open for at least half of its window (MF was open for one hour of TTD's 2.) That really helped the MF line from getting longer (as people arrived who slept in a bit) and allowed TTD to go to full train operations without having its line grow beyond the station.

Also I do have to say this, having MF and TTD have 2 hour ERTs was really nice, and thanks for the park for doing that Im pretty sure no window was that big last year.

Also, last year thanks to Magnum being pared with TTD for ERT, I was able to do a 15 ride marathon on that thing without getting off, so it is posible to have "exclusive ERT" during Coastermania. This year again, I got to do a 3 ride marathon on my favorite CP coaster as well. I guess you need to just really love a ride that isnt "popular" anymore. Also, when you get down to it any of the major rides at CP having a <15 min wait is pretty exclusive to me too, you dont get those kind of waits except at opening, sometimes at the end of the night, some weekdays in May and some Halloweekend Fridays and Sundays.

Next year, I'll go into coastermania expecting waits like you would get normally, basically a few rides stay open after the park closes, and everything else is normal. Extended ride time like you said.

then again....... if that's the case then, what exactly is the point of going???? I mean, its all good for you veterans who see the same people every year, and maybe dont live that close to CP. But I live just an hour from the point and have a season pass. I can go anytime, so if CP keeps this same format, I won't be attending CM next year.

I would hope that this would be seen not as whining, but being realistic.

but then again, if i'm not allowed to state my honest opinion (and back it up with facts and logic), without being labeled a "whiner" by one of the admins, then maybe I am in the wrong forum. *rolleyes*

Don't play the "I can't state my opinion card." That's b.s. You can state whatever you want, just don't expect everyone to agree with you.

I think my first response was pretty friendly. My more "direct" response came after your buddy reply.

I think I came across the wrong way with the "buddy" reply.

Anyway, I withdrawl my previous statement about "stating an opinion". Its all good. No need for a pointless argument or drama or whatever.

All I know is last year we got at least 8 rides on Maverick during ERT, this year we got 1. The staggered times just doesn't work well with a crowd that big. The kids in our group didn't even care to go back in for ERT on Saturday night so we chose to sit around the campfire and chill. The food at the reception and lunch was good and the staff was great (the t-shirts were a nice plus if only they had sizes other than L and XL). It just didn't have the same feel as CoasterMania's past.

^They did initially have sizes S-XXXL

^I'm sure they did, but they obviously don't supply enough of Small and Mediums if they were out of them by 5 pm and the event didn't officially start until 6 pm, let alone kid sizes and there are always quite a few kids at the event every year. I'm not saying that I don't appreciate them including t-shirts, it would just be nice to get one that actually fits. My daughter and I will never wear our shirts for anything other than a night shirt. Next time I won't even bother taking one so someone who can get use out of it can have it. I know it's not easy ordering stuff like that when they don't have a pre-registration.

Im just not going to go where why I think CP would need to have bigger sizes for an enthusiast event.

They had zero T-shirts by the time we went to get ours. We lose!

Thanks to all of you whom did not come back in the park for Saturday evening's ert.... I was able to get 10 rides on Raptor in an hour and 5-6 of those were re-rides.

Once again Coastermania is like a discounted day at the park for those of you without a season pass ... with perks. And for those with a season pass... it is like a plus on top of the normal perks.

Just appreciate it.. for what it is.

Touchdown, I was trying not to go there, lol.

Jeff, you can have mine, it's a Large ;)

This was my first CM, and I'm not sure what past years were like, but I still can't believe what I'd been missing!!

While I only rode Maverick once on Friday night's ERT, it's open for resort ERT every day anyway! I thought my expectations were dead on, and leaving at 11:30 made for a better Saturday morning ERT as well. Of which, Saturday morning was the real gem as TTD stayed open from 9:00 am until 10, and MF stayed open until 9:00 as well! 6 total hours of pre-resort ERT is far and away going above the call of duty!

With a big break on Saturday and only partial days on Friday and Sunday I got in well over 100 rides and left dozens upon dozens more on the table. My girlfriend and I left yesterday bored and burned out. I wouldn't have changed anything about CM, and given Maverick's constraints of its closing time line and resort schedule, stick with Boo Buzz if you want that.

I must say I thought this event was WONDERFUL!!! Cedar Point is WONDERFUL!!! I honestly felt as though ERT extended from Friday night, Saturday morning, and even ALL DAY Saturday!!! I mean for a Saturday I couldn't believe how dead it was. There were hardly any lines for most coasters!!!!! I mean I rode Top Thrill Dragster 13 total times on Saturday only 5 of those times being during the ERT session in the morning! At one point around 1pm I rode TTD 5 straight times in about an hours time! I could not believe it! I kept hearing people talk about 4 and 5 hour waits for that ride. Unreal! I don't think I even waited in line for TTD longer than 30 minutes! Rides like Mean Streak, Mantis, Iron Dragon, Wicked Twister, Corkscrew, Gemini, and Cedar Creek Mine Ride were all pretty much walk on rides Saturday! It was so awesome! Looks like Maverick was the ride with the longest wait and it was about an hour--but from what I have heard and seen it appears that Maverick is just built to be a line forming roller coaster. Millinium Force had about 30-45 minute waits on Saturday which isn't bad for a Saturday! Magnum XL200 had 15-30 minute waits. Then Raptor at times had 15-30 minute waits! I mean I rode it 3 straight times in less than an hour! I rode Wicked Twister 3 straight times in less than 15 minutes! Unreal! I must say I felt like ERT was all day Saturday. It was a great weekend at the Point and VERY well worth my 11 hour drive from Birmingham Alabama!

The Saturday ERT was ridiculous. My buddy and I got 8 laps on MF and 2on Dragster in the morning. Thanks to CP and the MF crew for extendingthe MF ERT to 9.

The night ERT was even better. Blue Streak and Raptor were walk-ons; Ihopped in a Raptor train and sat in it for ~30 minutes, getting 7laps. I love me some Raptor!

Glad to hear y'all had better luck on saturday. My original plans were to stay at a hotel on friday night and make it for the very early Saturday ERT. Unfortunately those plans ended up falling through.

I still disagree with only keeping one ride open for ERT at any time (I think having two open at a time through the different ERT periods all weekend is VERY reasonable to ask)... But I thank Cedar Point for having the event and everything that came with it. Friday was one of the very best visits I ever had at CP, when looking at the entire day.

I'm wearing my Coastermania '09 shirt as we speak. Sorry you didn't get one Jeff. Me and my GF went and grabbed ours the very first minute we got there friday, so we wouldn't go without. :-)
