CoasterDynamix Model Photos

Just wondering if Jack R or anyone has any new info on this masterpiece? I'm getting a little depressed because I haven't seen anything new lately. But i'm sure you guys are working hard on everything. But if you could, update us as soon as possible. Thanks!

This is really amazing. I have a few questions too.

Will painting the model including the trains make it not work right?

I model amusement rides in HO scale, and I think alot of other people do, because it's the scale that the majority of ride kits are issued in. So, is there any chance that an HO scale version could ever be released?

I'll be sure to get one either way. Looks awsome, 100X better than Knex, and 10X better than Faller.

Hey everyone. I just talked to Mike about a video. We have some footage from Nocoastercon, but he wants to add some additional shots showing ease of assembly and flexibility of the design. Be patient, it will be here soon along with our site. We are finishing up some molds and extrusions, then we get to write instructions. FUN!

If you come to the end of a run you simply cut the spine and rails and splice them with the provided connectors. They look good and function just fine. You can see the spine joints on some of the pictures. They even have bolt patterns molded in!

You can paint the trains as long as you don't get paint in the areas where the wheels rotate. You can paint the structure and track, but if you keep changing the layout the paint may chip or flake on the spine and rails from being assembled and disassembled often. I really don't know at this time because we have not painted the track, honestly.

There may be something down the road in HO, but I can't say now:)

Thanks for answering the questions. I'll keep my fingers crossed on the HO subject. It really would be dream come true to HO park modelers. Right now the only choices are 2 kits from Faller, both of which are just carnival type portables, and that don't really operate too well either.
Alright, thanks for the answer to my question. About how many extra connectors will come with a kit? Because I know I will be making a lot of layouts with this and i'll probably have to do a lot of cutting and stuff. Thanks!

I'm not sure how many extra pieces we will include in a kit. We will determine that as we near release. We will offer all parts as spares so you can enlarge the stock layout, however.

That looks great! I am a full time college student, but I could afford it (live at home, school is 10 minutes away-why leave?) I have a job (soon to be supervisor at the hard rock hotel) I just don't think I could justify $500 dollars. not that it is overpriced, it is pretty decently priced for a coaster model, just too much for me.
And some will undoubtedly feel that way. Anything priced in that range is certainly not for the masses like a K'Nex coaster. It is intended to be something special for those that can afford it.

Actually, when you put all of this into perspective, it makes sense. A Faller Wild Mouse costs about $150, while a real Wild Mouse probably costs around $4 million. This model will cost $500, with an average-sized B&M invert going for $12 or 13 million. Do the simple math and everything is relative!

LOL Rob......relative price points...gotta love it!
I guess that means a TTD model would cost about a grand!
I think $500 is more than fair, compared to the cost of the Faller coasters, which are very finicky at best. My Big Dipper runs but not well, and my Wild Mouse never ran period. This model looks much easier to assemble, and shouldn't have operational problems like the Faller kits.
I don't own any Faller kits, but what exactly is the problem with them not running smoothly?

I think this model is the best thing to happen in a while. Did you say they were going on sale in April?

Well, with the Wild Mouse, my lift never worked right, plus the cars are prone to derailing and/or not completeing the circit.

And, the Big Dipper tends to derail alot, you need to spend hours tinkering with it to get the train to stay on, I even added magnets under the track in spots, to hold the train on, and slow it down a little bit.

HOLY CRAP!!! That thing is awsome!!!

Question..

It was mentioned earlier that a station may be offered with brakes, move wheels etc. How does it stop now? Does it just abruptly slam to a stop when it hits the lift again or does something slow it down?

Personally I am hoping for full mult-train op with blocking and full braking! Ah hell...throw in a light package of some sort too. Some chasers would look real nice around the loop. :)

Right now the chain dogs ratcheting over the lift spring slows the train. On the final model we hope to have the train enter the station slower- at about the same rate that the station spring advances the train. We have discussed numerous ideas on how to slow the train down, but have not decided what to settle on or if it is even needed.
Anything new to report Jack? ....I had the cash ready to go...but Phish is playing in Vegas in April so not sure if I'll have mine ready then...but who knows ;) I've got a great job for a college student so $500 isnt all that much to me.
Wow, I've yet to meet a coaster enthusiast who is also a Phan! Welcome to posting.

I'm on the same page. 3 nights general admission at Thomas Mack....these shows will be insane!

The Miami run had some good stuff....but the Albany show I saw on 12-1...now that was awesome!

Glad to know some people around here are sharin' the groove. Later friends............

Any new news to report? When they go on for sale where do actualy purchase one, or is there a waiting list?
