Just a reminder that, as we mentioned in this week's newsletter, that CoasterBuzz will be down for a few hours tonight as we make server upgrades.
UPDATE 9:40 pm EDT: The new hardware failed to work, so following the procurement of new parts, downtime will occur some time Saturday.
UPDATE 9/7/02 8:42 pm EDT: All new hardware installed and running. CoasterBuzz and club site appear to be fully functional.
I didn't say I wouldn't have one tied on while I did the work...

Too bad I can't convince them to let me try that at work.

Syntax, I agree. Some of my best code has been done with a beer (or something harder) nearby.
Of course, the place I work IS casual enough that we have some in the fridge, and occasionally have one at night. Still not during the daytime hours, though...
Good luck with the upgrade, Jeff.

This is a good time to thank you, Jeff, for working so much on this site for us. I've said that I'm joining the CBuzz Club before, but I'm joining ASAP. Good luck with the upgrade. *Thumbs Up*

Thank You for challenging TOS: The Ride. We hope you enjoy the rest of your day, here at Coasterbuzz.

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
At least it's only for a few hours(depending on how much trouble Jeff has with the server upgrade) and not for days on end unlike some of the problems that plauged coasternet over the past month or so.
Any way thanks for the advance warning and good luck with the server,I hope everything works out okay in the end.
The real irony is that the old server, which is still running a dozen sites, e-mail, etc., never has any problems ever. CB used to live on that box until it outgrew it. This box went in to service 9/11 last year, and has been a pain since.
I find it absolutely amazing that all of these code monkeys have had the very same experience I have regarding alcohol and programming. If it weren't for the techno that generally goes with the beverages, I might get even more done.
And has anyone seen the heatsink/fan that comes with retail P4's from Intel? It's HUGE.

Actually, I find that the BEST coding sessions require not only a little alcohol, but also good techno, industrial, or heavy metal, preferably on high volumes. Once that combo gets me "in the zone", watch out...
