CoasterBuzz posts preview of Hyper Rails (updated)

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

CoasterBuzz has posted a preview of the forthcoming PC game, Hyper Rails. The new roller coaster simulation will include a variety of coaster types that you can build and will hit stores the first week of September. Update includes six new screen shots of Impulse.

Show me the preview!

Will a version be available for Macs? I cant seem to find the tech specs anywhere.

jdancisin,

I don't think this is being released on Mac...sorry. *** This post was edited by redman822 on 8/17/2002. ***

So jeff when you say gold is out so is it out or not that was confusing. oo and for people who think im biased. Im not i love any game that furthers the coaster experience. I will buy hyper rails, and i will buy Coaster Gen, and SM. and rate them equally.

Can the seats on the 4D rotate while the coaster is stationary in the station, for loading/unloading and dispatch?

Hyper Rails dosen't impress me enough to run out and pay $30 for. Yes, the grapics may look cool, and there is a couple features I like about it. With No Limits releaseing major updates, and Scream Machines has a long list of features and track/train styles for there release, Hyper Rails has alot of work to do in order to come close to what No Limits and Scream Machines has. I'm not saying Hyper Rails suck, it dose look like a good game, it just lacks alot of things some of us coaster gamers are looking for. If I see some good major updates for Hyper Rails after it's released, I just might run out and buy it, till then, I'll stick with the other two coaster sims.

Here's my pre-release rankings:

1. Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 - it may not be 3D, but by far will be the best selling coaster game.

2. Scream Machines - The features and track styles along is enough to grab a coaster fan's attention, and the detail level is outstanding!

3. Hyper Rails - Upgrades will be the key to make this one a hit.

Again... what is it the game lacks? Tell me, because I'm interested to hear seeing as how you haven't seen the game.

Yes, the 4D seats rotate for loading and dispatch.

but, are the sounds better than nolimits?

When is the game being released? On their official web site, it says August 15th, but on the preview, it says "This Fall"... which is correct??!

(I'm obviously guessing the latter since it's a rare thing that anything is released earlier than later, with the exception of yearly football games)

I'll take HR.

MY beef against the top 3 contenders are as follows.

No limits- The editor is really complex for my tastes and the game is only available for purchase online and not available in retail stores, the simulator is good though.

RCT2-as you may have read in some of my posts the system requirements are what's preventing me from getting the game at this point so unless they make a win95 version then I'm sh*t outta luck there.

Scream machines-a poorly designed demo with a terrible editing system as well as several glitches in the demo causing the game to shut down, also no retail purchases are available except online purchases only.

So out of those three titles they've each got their problems and at this point HR will be available on win95,have a simple to use editor,be available for retail purchase in stores and from the screenshots I've seen in the latest update it looks to be an all around good game.those onboard shots of the impulse were just too good to pass up on this game.

Jeff, HyperRails allows multiple tracks per park but no way to synch stations to race/duel them... tell me if that makes any sense to you. :\

It also has no 3D import and thus provides no method for props, theming or terrain. It has the 4D train style but only a handfull of others. *** This post was edited by Phyter on 8/19/2002. ***

Batwing, the SM demo does not represent the final product.. go their website to learn more. Suffice to say the entire game has been rewritten and, aside from the look of things, will not function anything like the demos. The track editor is now sort of a combination HR/NL style. Navigation and the terrain editor function more intuitively. The support editor is now fully free-form like NoLimits.

I think iw ould know alittle more about SM. Its better than NL in its current state right now. We are still in early beta stages which is a good sign!

Did anyone who ordered from Amazon actually get it yet?
Their site still says it's available to ship.

Hmmmm....

Nope not yet.

I just said it wasn't even done this weekend. Amazon can't ship what they don't have.

Well here is something weird, I emailed Amazon asking if they have Hyper Rails and here is what they said:

Thank you for writing to us at Amazon.com.

I've looked into your order and see that Hyper Rails turned out to be
in short supply. We've ordered this item from another supplier and
we hope to be able to deliver it to you soon.

Unexpected changes in supply can occasionally add time to your
estimated shipping date. Please accept our apologies for any
inconvenience this may cause.

Please note that you can also always check the status of your order
by clicking the Your Account link at the top of most pages of our
store.

Thank you for your patience, and thanks for shopping at Amazon.com.

Well it seem to me that they did have it and that they had a short supply, so what is up with this. I mean who every made Hyper Rails should of told their retailers no to give out pre-orders if they weren't even ready to ship the product until a month after the shipping date was set.

I was looking on amazon.com and can't find any listing for hyper rails at all.can anyone post a link showing it?

Another thing most people can do is just wait for it to become available in stores and buy it then, that's what I'm gonna do.

Hahahahaha. Amazon LIED to you. The game hasn't seen a CD yet.
