CoasterBuzz Club!!! NOT

i think the clubs a good idea. running and maintaining a sucessful site such as coasterbuzz takes alot of time and money. ill probably be joining the club in the near future. $20 is nothing today, hell i make that in an hour at work. Thats 2 trips to the movie theater and popcorn. So stop with the damn complaining. If you dont like the idea of it then thats your opinion, but keep it to yourself.
You can also opt-out of some of the pop-ups from one of the more annoying pop-up companies.  I'd be willing to pay for this site even if it wasn't ad-free and there were no ERT's.  Bottom line is that it's a great site, and I've never seen better forum moderating.  You get useful information and more often than not, intelligent discussion.  I haven't seen any other sites like it.
For those who are complaining...all I can say is that my $20 is helping the webmaster run this site, supporting your ability to log on and participate in these discussions for FREE.  What is there to complain about?

To those of you who support the club and have managed expectations of what you get in return this year, thank you. You are the people I started the club for, and I sincerely appreciate your support.

GeaugasViewWeb: Do you think I've got that kind of time to waste on playing favorites with parks? I'll set something up at any park that will talk to me, and for the record, Cedar Point does not do club-specific events. If you feel so strongly, why haven't you just deleted your account and gone away?

I still don't understand where the hostility comes from some of you. I wish there was something that silly I had time to worry about or be angry about.

76 members strong in 48 hours... thanks guys!

Why pay for the ad-free site when you can download free software to fix that problem?

Because when you do so, you remove even the trickle of ad revenue that this site MIGHT get.  Jeff CAN'T pay for all this out of pocket.  If you don't want to pay for the site, that's fine, but the money has to come from SOMEWHERE.  If nobody pays AND people bypass the ads, then there's no money to support this site, and therefore no site.
Why do so many people just not get this?

Because they are 14 years old.

I just joined back in August so I suppose I would classify as a newbie.  However, this site has become the only site that I visit nearly daily and it is a valuable resource to people interested in this sort of thing.  It seems like many people think Jeff is just selling out, which I know is not true.  A website of this magnitude doesn't run itself and pop-up ads aren't the most efficient way to support a site financially.  I fully intend to join in as soon as I get some wiggle room on my credit card :)

Forget the criticts, Jeff, this is one thing on the net I find worth paying for.  After all, chipping in to support the site is the least anyone can do.

Anyone think it's funny that the people complaining have been here for less than half a year, and all the people supporting it are regulars? I guess some newbies just don't get it...

MF may be awesome, but Raptor is still my fav

Not all 14 year olds are stupid :-P

And remember peeps, it's $20 a YEAR... that translates to less then $2.00 a MONTH....

....think about it....

SFDL dude, you are right..

Noot all 14 year olds are stupid.  I'm 14 years old and i think it is ridiculas to pay $20, or $2 a month for something that is free, but w/ advirtsments!

Alos, as stated above.. certainn 'buzzers' do bash Six Flags parks, but how many of you go and visit a Six Flags park? How many? I am sure all of you have and you just verbally bash the chain because it owns and operates so many parks.

Just because it doesnt have as much themeing as a Disney park has doenst mean its a bad park.. Just think about that

Exactly what SigmaCP said...Sites like this don't just run themselves; it takes time, effort, and money to keep something like this great site up and running.  Money is in short supply when you try to rely on pop-ups.  I appreciate Jeff and his team's efforts to provide a quality site for those of us into this sorta thing, even if it means letting people on that get something for free and still aren't satisfied.

Keep up the good work!

I do understand. I just have other, better things I could spend $20 on, so why pay to basically remove ads when you can download something to do that for free?

Member # 24.  I've been here less than six months, yet As soon as I heard of this I signed up.  If my 20$ means that the site does not go under, then It is well worth it.  This is a much better investment than subscribing to a theme park magazine or something similar to that.  Its cheaper and you get a 'new' issue every day!  Thanx a lot jeff!

There is no secret that sometimes Jeff and I do not agree, but I stand by him on this.  I myself run a web hosting business and the costs can get out of hand sometimes.  Unless you are the person who is shelling out all of the money to make the site go, you have no right to sit there and complain.  Jeff has gone out of his way to bring this site to people.  If you do not accept that fact and the fact that he is simply trying to cover some of the costs, then why not go out, by yourself a server, make your own site, get the pull he does, and lets see if you are so happy to pay for it.
Let him go on this one.  If you pay $20 for a membership great, if not then great.  It is the choice of you as a person and simply that, yours.  I openly challenge any person who complains about the $20 to start a site and pay for it on your own.  Then lets see how easy this is for you.  I am currently working on getting a calander together with others and making it as cheap as possible for people.  Now my only question is how many people would complain about the pictures that are used in it if they bought it since you are agruing over a simple thing such as this where you are not forced to and is an option to anyone.  Some people you just can not please is all it goes to show you.

With all due respect, that just makes you a freeloader. I quote from the Manifesto:

2. There is such a thing as a free lunch, but don't forget to tip your waiter.
6. All take and no give only works for a little while.
14. Don't expect us to do everything, all the time, anytime you want us to do it for you.
16. Free is not always free.
21. Which do you value more? Our services or an Extra Value Meal?
22. When you "cheat" the system, it hurts the giver more than it helps the taker.
26. Bandwidth is not free.
27. Nobody is forcing you to use our stuff.
38. We made a choice to do this, but we also have the right to change our minds.
46. Our business plan consists of one goal: be here tomorrow.
47. If we ever develop a "pay for" option, we'll have good reason to do so.
48. Even if we do develop a "pay for" option, you don't have to buy it.
59. Go ahead and call us "sellouts." You're wrong.
60. Take us for granted and soon there will be nothing left to take.
67. The advertising market has changed; we have struggled to remain the same.
69. This is a full-time job, whether we have another one or not.

You clearly find value in what you see here or you won't post or visit the site. Given that, why do you find it so easy to steal from me? That's essentially what you're doing.

We DO get it, GregLeg.  But you guys need to get THIS.....not all of us have the time online to constantly close out pop-up ads, and/or visit those advertisers!  I never click on pop-up ads.  I don't waste my time, or effort, to go to a site that advertises something that 99.5% of the time offers something that I am totally not interested in.  No offense to Jeff, but my opinion is that if you want to operate a website, you need to be prepared to fork out the money that it costs to run that site each month.  I'm disgusted that I even have to close out pop-up ads I encounter when logging on to a major ISP - I'm already paying them $21.95 a month!

I know I'd feel bad if I was somehow freeloading... for those of you calling the subscribers *lazy*, well maybe I AM lazy.. the way my internet is set up, the loading window takes control of my screen.. this cuts down on that a lot and keeps me from going insane

Also.. Jeff, thanks for all the hard work in making such a great site, and making that site even better. Now I don't yell at my computer nearly as much as I used to.

Now I DO take offense at THAT comment, Jeff - because it is the biggest bunch of horse manure I have ever read.  Your logic is a little flawed....my ISP forces pop-ups on me, regardless of the fact that I pay them $21.95 per month.  So how is THAT stealing from them, when I choose not to click on those ads?  I'm ALREADY paying them.   Plus, how DARE you make us feel guilty for visiting a site that you have FREELY chosen to create, and offer.  If YOU want us to pay to visit your site, then you might as well make it a private members-only site, because I'll be darned if I will click on a stupid pop-up ad, and waste my time visiting an advertiser that offers a product I am not interested in.  I have limited time online, and I am obviously wasting it right now by writing this - you won't see my point, I'm sure.  So rest assured, this will be my final post in your website.  You may delete my membership - in fact, I insist you do.

What a loss.  Im sure the 45 posts he had were great.

Maybe if you'd take time to read the Manifesto you'd see it's not intended to make anyone feel guilty, only offer a little perspective.

By the way, re-read 6, 27, 38, 48 and 60, then save your lecture about what I'm obligated to give you.

Good bye. It'll be a struggle, but I'm sure CoasterBuzz will go on without you.

some of you guys really crack me up man.....i mean, im splittin my sides over here.  aight, sometimes i dont agree with Jeff either, but he has POURED money into this site.  and it rocks!!!!  now listen to this....consider the new CoasterbuzzCLub as a reward card like you would get at your local grocery store.  and for real guys, $20 isnt really a whole lot.  you dont have to join, but stop youre belly aching...some of you guys, specially that geauga whatever dude, are like a couple of whiney brats!!  makes me sick man.

jeff, forget those punks...i LOVE youre site as i have stated in many posts and emails...and like a few others, as SOON as i get some stuff paid off, consider me in the club!!  i mean, i really wanna do whatever i can to help you keep this site running...im not rich, but hey, if i can help with $20, then im there!!  rock on Jeff...thanks for makin a place for TRUE coaster enthusiasts to mingle!!!!!

You guys can ***** all you want about how horrible it is that Jeff started the club.

You guys can even gloat all you want about how smart you are in knowing that you can still access it for free.

But just remember this one thing: If those of us who felt it was worth the $20 to join hadn't done so, Jeff would have run out of money soon enough and then there would be NO Coasterbuzz at all. With coaster sites dying off faster than ever, there won't be many alternate choices left to go to.

So if you want my opinion on it all, you can either PAY UP or SHUT UP and enjoy what we are, in essence, paying for you to use.
