Coaster Paint

Not only that Frank Schramm, but some of the white from Turn of the Century is coming through. Whizzer needs it too.
Is the repainting of roller coasters done completely by the park or is it done by specialists from the coaster companies?

I think it is done by park technicians. What I want to know is how Raptor's and Mantis' rails DID NOT get painted the first time (brand new). -And other B&M's as well. Like Iron Wolf, Vortex, Batman KF.

I'd say that CP has to paint all of their rides almost. They look old, dirty, and run down.
CP painted Mantis and Wildcat this year, and last year they painted Raptor.
To Frank Schramm: The red you're seeing is not original paint, it's actually the steel of the coaster. But it doen't look that bad yet. All the roller coaster's paint jobs at SFGAm are a little worn where the wheels run, but still look great otherwise.

On a sidenote, though, I think it's time to either touch up the themeing or completely re-theme the demon. The plywood tunnel at the beginning with regular lightbulbs in colored domes just doesn't have any mystique left!

Shockwave a PKD. It's not that it's faded or rusted it just the new paint job looks so stupid!
SUE and BKF at SFWoA already need new paint as they have faded. Mind Eraser too.

Double Loop needs repainting as the old black paint is starting to show more through the yellow track.

X Factor

I agree on the MF commeant.. The track has faded from its nice blue shade to a lighter color.. Doesn't look all that bad though, just hopefully they will repaint before it turns Magnum (which I hope would just sink ;))

But yea, Intamin paint seems to fade more then any other company.. Maybe they need new paint blend? Better Primer? Something, I dunno.

.......actually, Raptor was repainted in 2001.

Definately Ninja at Six Flags Magic Mountain. Hasn't been painted since it opened, except for a few random sections.

Yeah the Magnum is orangish pink now. It needs paint very badly. I think that S:UE and BKF are holding up decently though for three years.
I think Chang is honestly the worst I've ever seen. And that includes Magnum (which takes 2nd place).

Funny how the ugliest B&M fits right into the ugliest and crappiest SF park.

Well like said above Ninja at SFMM needs it BADDDDDDDD! as does Revolution, Flashback needs everything done to it imaginable hehehe, Colossus and the Skytower need paint also.

Magnum is LONG OVERDUE for a new coat of paint. I wonder what Millie will look like in about 5 years.

I just saw a fairly new pic of Millie where the trak is suffering from paint and rust.

I think they should go back to the all yellow. At least it was unique!

I agree that MForce could use a new paint job. I haven't really noticed Magnum's. Mantis looks awesome, as well as the new shades on the Wildcat!!!

The Big Dipper at Camden Park seems to have had a new coat of white paint as of last year, however, only the front part of the coaster was repainted. I just wonder if they ever finished it or not.

As far as the Thunderbolt Express, well, we know that is a lost cause unfortunatley. :-(

What are the current "ugly" color schemes for Chang and PDK's Shockwave?

Also, does anyone know all the different color schemes SFOG's Mindbender went through over the years? In photos I've seen it bright green, avocado green, brick red, and periwinkle blue.

PKD's Shockwave doesn't need painted, but it does. Those are some wild colors and designs. Maybe it's time for them to remove the coaster completely and build a B&M stand up or floorless.

When I go to CP Wednesday, I will inspect Maggie's paint job, or what's left of it. Last time I was there it looked like orange with a small shade of rust.
