Chris Godsey: and the attack of the taffy!

LOL! Sorry Chris I have to do this. At SDC on Saturday Chris tried one of their "infamous" banana chilli pepper taffy and burned his mouth. It was quite funny. Nice meeting some of the people here on the boards and finally putting faces with names. The weather was beautiful, a nice 54* in the Ozarks. The "walk in the park" was quite fun, and the prime rib at lunch was wonderful. ERT on Wildfire was quite fun - even though it did get a little cold after my 8th time in a row. The best part of the day was the question and answer session where we learned some "new & interesting" information on the park(s) - that is all 3 of them. The one thing that I was dissapointed in finding out was that they are not renaming White Water to a "city" name - however they are changing the focus of the park in theming. Lots of fun and wish more of you guys could have gone. They are talking about an ACE with the opening of Ozark Wildcat, so --- oh I almost forgot Clair from GCI was there to answer questions, that was fun.

Mental note: Stay AWAY from the hot banana taffy :) I have been buying taffy in that store for over 10 years and I have never even seen it....trust me, its pretty damn hot!

Yeah, it was great to see all of you at the event. Swoosh, you also forgot to mention that the CC site plan was revealed to us as well as who is making that 3rd coaster ;)

See you all at the CC opening

Chris

You mean the Gerstlauer bobsled? That info was let out a long time ago :P

Yeah, they did tell us the manufacturer for that ride and no it's not a "Gerstlauer bobsled". I also think they pretty much confirmed what ride they are getting in 2004 at SDC, that was pretty funny - "It hasn't been announced yet..." - PR lady. They also talked about the new WW attraction for 2003. It was lots of fun - and heed the warning to not try the hot banana taffy. :)

I didn't know you were from Arkansas Chris. I will admit your table at lunch was quite humorous. How many slabs of prime rib did the guy to your left eat? His plate was piled high with food before they een brought the rib around. :)

I am originally from Arkansas, but I live in Memphis. That guynext to me was my cousin... as you can tell he likes to eat... hehehe They all are entertaining to say the very least. It sure makes the trips alot more fun :)

He wasn' too fond of the prime rib, so he only ate one piece I think. But, he did pile his plate mighty high from the buffet. The waitress left a whole plate at the table for a while so it looked like we ate alot

I really didn't mean to open up a can of worms when I mentioned their 04 attraction. I just wanted to know if they had picked one of the 4 attractions yet. Also, I was shocked to see that the shoot the chutes ride was removed from the CC lineup but Billy did mention they are keeping BUSA's old Reverchon portable flume. I also expected the third coaster to be the dragon wagon since its still onsite.

No, the Shoot 'D Chutes is still going to be there. If you took any pictures of the layout, it's in the upper right hand corner of the map. It's next too Fireball and located where it is right now. I didn't see the Flume ride on the map though, I will need to go back and look at the picture again.

I know you didn't mean to open up a can of worms, but it was quite funny her reaction - I think she pretty much admitted that it was the --- well what you said. ;)

The waitress was very nice. I loved it when she said that she didn't care for Wildfire too much, and then the PR lady was like "We are supposed to promote our rides, not down talk them." Did you hear that she had been with SDC for over 10yrs and was one of the people on the ThuNderaTion commercial the year it came out. She said that she had to ride the thing 36+ times in a row. That must have been terrible :)

I guess you can now beam with glee that you know a secret that most of us don't. Whatever!

There is no beaming with glee going on. The park is not ready to anounce the attraction yet and the attendees are simply respecting SDC's wishes that we not spill the beans as the info slipped out mistakenly.

The Shoot D Chute foot print looked alot like the Reverchon (spelling?) log flume that was at Branson USA to me. Did anybody else get that impression?

So somebody from one park told him a little something. I mean, most of us hear a little something now and then and don't necessarily post "Oooh! I know something!" It's no big deal.

But we certainly all should keep in mind January 4th at 8am when we should expect a special announcement per the Godsey Rides countdown timer. We sure wouldn't wanna miss it...or see the timer slip back a few days or weeks, now would we?

Funny how Chris just dissapeared after a few certain issues a while ago hmmmm

1989, 9 years old bawling my eyes out because I didn't want to ride Magnum. I did anyway and look at me now. Why did ya make me do it Dave? ;)

Yeah Jim, Billy came out and said that they were keeping that Reverchon Flume. At one point, I remember hearing talk about an Intamin Spillwater in the Boardwalk section similar to the one in Kennywood. When I mentioned it, he said they decided to keep the reverchon and push the spillwater back to a later date.

That main street section looks very disneyesque...the park looks like a winner even at only 46 acres!

damn, i wish my sister didn't have her baby on Saturday. I was wanting to go so bad too...

Edit: Chris, I told you that they sold the Dragon Wagon, ya should have believed me as for the rest, you better talk to me on AIM, irishfootball42, ya know.. haha.... was it fun though? I cant believe you fell for the taffy trick, i got to eat it when i was 10 or so, it is very hot... very....

So Billy did say that they were keeping the flume but not Spillwater? I remember them saying something, but I just can't remember what. Antuan, don't take it personal that we aren't telling you, it's like 'Playa said - the park let it slip, we know about it, no big deal. It just doesn't seem right to say something when it's not your money. That and the fact if we spill the beans, SDC might not be as quick to let us in on new information at the next ACE event. Do you understand where we are coming from now?

Just because his, uh, consultancy leaves a whole bunch of unanswered questions doesn't mean he has no right to live, breathe and post on this forum.

At worst he's a harmless nut and just a little bit sad.

They didn't sell it. It will be put into storage until they decide what to do with it. There is a possibility that it could eventually end up back in the park, however it is NOT the third coaster.
