Chang track at SFGam.

It's been a while, so I was due for something like that.

Is there any indication that the dive loop will stay if Chang is converted to a floorless coaster? I know very little about the g-forces of this particular inversion, but correct me if I'm wrong, this element has never been seen on a sit-down coaster before?

You are indeed wrong. The dive loop element is on these B&M Floorless coasters: Batman Dark Knight (SFNE), Medusa (SFDK), Bizzaro/Medusa (SFGAdv), Scream (SFMM), Kraken (SWF), and Insane Speed (Jandusen Fancyworld).

Sorry Moosh, I did mean the incline loop. Thanks for the correction gator. If this element will work smoothly on sit-down coasters, anyone have the slightest of clue why B&M never uses it? (they give the park what they want, yes, but I have a hard time believing no one 'wants' the incline loop---I mean I couldn't imagine park management looking at this: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3072/2829279551_53a10f8c18.jpg, and saying "nope B&M, uh-uh, not on my coaster").

It's a rather bland sensation going through a B&M Oblique loop. It's not necessarily more thrilling than a regular vertical loop, nor does it offer a heightened sensation of anything unique (like you would get on lets say a corkscrew or zero-G roll). Because you aren't completely upside down and you take the loop at rather low speeds, it feels like a slow over bank turn.

I suppose it's one of those things where they just decided it was more of an aesthetic choice to make it look funky for spectators to look at rather than it was for the riders themselves (like a splashdown on the Dive Machines). That's my take on it.

Or, you mean, like dive machines in general? They're absolutely beautiful and graceful to watch, but I'm not very fond of the tameness of the overall ride.

So while Chang's parts are being stored on-site at Great America, apparently, it is not going to be built at the Gurnee park. Similar to when The Great Escape stored Serial Thriller's parts, but the ride ended up at La Ronde. Great America is the closest sister property to Kentucky Kingdom, which makes sense for it to be a storage location.

Speculate away...

Six Flags St. Louis is closer to SFKK.

My favorite MJ tune: "Billie Jean" which I have been listening to alot now. RIP MJ.

By a difference of less than 30 miles. Negligible.

Besides, according to the most dangerous cities list, the track would get stolen if it was stored in St. Louis. :)

My bad, yeah SFSTSL is about 45 miles closer than SFGAM is to SFKK.

If Chang is not going to get assembled there than what is going by the newly painted Sky Trek Tower with Space Shuttle America being torn down. At the end of last season they even had a sign stating future new attraction area. Plus keeping the go kartsthere by itself makes no sense.

Iron Wolf used to be my favorite stand-up until a couple of years ago. Sorry, bashing my skull repeatedly against the restraints is not my idea of fun! I just feel B&M stand-ups do not age well.

^It's the trains. Iron Wolf, when it opened 19 yrs ago (OMG!) was a super ride. It was fast as hell and smooth, just a couple snaps. It's a death machine to all body parts now.

It too, like some other B&M's, could benefit from a conversion to sit down or floorless. The layout is great on Iron Wolf (cept that snap in the corkscrew - which I can't stand to a lesser degree in any B&M).

I'd like to see it end up at SFNE but unfortunately, there is no more room for a coaster of that size.

^ There's plent of room at SFNE. If push comes to shove, they can put in the parking lot across the street!

He was trying to be funny. As for SFNE, assuming the park received the proper permits from the city there's no reason why Chang couldn't end up there.

I loved riding Chang when it was a standup at SFKK, but I do think it would be even better as a floorless. I would like to see them install it in Chicago because that's still relatively close to home for me. :)

"assuming the park received the proper permits from the city..." Now that's funny without even trying... ;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Oh moosh, your puns and teasing are always funny until your talking about my home park.

I'm not trying to be funny nor am I teasing. I see no reason why, given the right set of circumstances, Chang couldn't end up at SFNE. I suppose it could also end up at SFGAdv or SFA. I guess we'll all find out soon enough.

This coaster should end up at SFA! Then they can finally melt down that Silly BatWing coaster!

No I don't have a kid, but I still want to ride!
