Seriously, I'll go on record right now as saying I hope Cedar Point doesn't break the 500' mark. There are lots of other types of coasters I'd like to see at the park first.
Size doesn't matter. (Hmm, where have I heard that before?)
Mouse type family coaster
Floorless
Flying
record breaking looping(most inversions)
etc.
I rode the "standard" model at Lagoon and absolutely fell in love with those spinning coasters. I'm dying to get to England and ride Spinball Whizzer and the other one over there that are bigger with bigger layouts.
I would absolutely flip if Cedar Point put in a mega-sized one of these things - they're just absolutely nuts! So much fun, and I'm a speed and height junkie! I've hated every other mouse coaster I've ridden.
Actually, a super-sized Maurer-Sohne is a *MUCH* better fit for Geauga ... HMMMMM ... ;)
What do you think the terminal velocity of a coaster rolling down a hill is? I thought I heard before that the terminal velocity of a human in freefall was something like 130 mph..the terminal velocity of a train rolling down a hill can't be too much higher when you factor in friction. The point being, how high can we go before we reach the point that it doesn't matter how high the coaster is, it will still reach the same speed? Of course you could still break the speed record with a launched coaster, but with a traditional lift? How high can we go? If terminal velocity is around 130 mph even for a falling train, than Kingda Ka might be at just the right height...I dunno, just adding timber to the fire as the expression goes...
If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.
People are wanting more than "just" a height breaker. If Cedar Point were to build the rumored dueling flyers for 2006, which I heard could be in excess of 200 feet and break the inversion record at 12 a piece, it would cover that angle. Then in 2007 if they would follow them up with the uber-coaster (uber is a funny word) called Terminal Velocity that's 500 feet tall, they would grab the height and speed records again.
Granted that no other mega parks start added more than one coaster in a year, wouldn't Cedar Point own pretty much every big coaster record there is? It sounds so crazy that it's something they might just do.
This is just me thinking out loud...

Cedar point isn't into breaking inversion records not true. Raptor most inversions of an inverted coaster when opened. Mantis same. Corkscrew most inversions in the world when it opened.
I would be disappointed if they broke 500 feet in 07 I want 600 or 700ft.
-Eric: Major Parks: SFNE(homepark), SFA,SFGADV,CP,BGE,BGA,Kennywood, and Sea World: Track record 65 different coasters ridden #1 is Millennium Force #2 is El Toro and than there are all the others
