Cedar Point's Record Breaker?

Besides, I'm going to assume that Kinzel won't be the only one calling the shots around the time it comes for him to retire. Makes sense to me that his successor will be making some of the decisions as Kinzel's retirement date nears.
Well why don't they step out of the box. We know that height records are predicatable for CP, surprise us and break another record. Gadv's did just that, noone would really believe in the record breaker but they came with one and a new themed area. CP has a lot of quality and I would like to see them have quality rides. TTD isn't the best quality ride in the park, the smaller one's with length to it gives good reliablity. I want to see a B&M in their, we all could expect a record breaker but why don't they fool us and add something in a way off direction.
Like a 12,000 foot-long scenic railway that encircles the entire CP complex?
I heard in an interview somewhere that CF went to B&M first for MF, but B&M said they won't do a coaster higher than 250ft. Can anyone confirm this?

I heard that one too but I'm not sure what to make of it. They wouldn't do 250 but they did Nitro @ 230?
The "something big" Kinzel would have up his sleeve probably has to do with stock options.

Seriously, I'll go on record right now as saying I hope Cedar Point doesn't break the 500' mark. There are lots of other types of coasters I'd like to see at the park first.

Size doesn't matter. (Hmm, where have I heard that before?)

If CP breaks the record everytime someone else does that they will be building a new record breaker every few years and there's nothing unique about that. There are still alot of different types of coasters that CP has yet to get :

Mouse type family coaster

Floorless

Flying

record breaking looping(most inversions)

etc.

One more thing to add. Cedar Point is out to continue to be the best amusement park in the world. Best doesn't always mean tallest and fastest.

*mouth waters at the possiblities of a Cedar Point/Maurer Sohne combination*

I rode the "standard" model at Lagoon and absolutely fell in love with those spinning coasters. I'm dying to get to England and ride Spinball Whizzer and the other one over there that are bigger with bigger layouts.

I would absolutely flip if Cedar Point put in a mega-sized one of these things - they're just absolutely nuts! So much fun, and I'm a speed and height junkie! I've hated every other mouse coaster I've ridden.

Actually, a super-sized Maurer-Sohne is a *MUCH* better fit for Geauga ... HMMMMM ... ;)

maybe they could do a 300 ft woodie. (has that ever been done?

Why would they want to? Have you ever ridden SoB? Or rather, survived SoB?
Something to ponder...

What do you think the terminal velocity of a coaster rolling down a hill is? I thought I heard before that the terminal velocity of a human in freefall was something like 130 mph..the terminal velocity of a train rolling down a hill can't be too much higher when you factor in friction. The point being, how high can we go before we reach the point that it doesn't matter how high the coaster is, it will still reach the same speed? Of course you could still break the speed record with a launched coaster, but with a traditional lift? How high can we go? If terminal velocity is around 130 mph even for a falling train, than Kingda Ka might be at just the right height...I dunno, just adding timber to the fire as the expression goes...

If you can't stand the heights, get out of the line.

CP hasn't added a woodie in years, and would be a nice addition to their line-up.

Come to think of it, it's been more than 5 years since any CF park has added a woodie.

...and that was from the plans laid by the previous owners of Knott's.

People are wanting more than "just" a height breaker. If Cedar Point were to build the rumored dueling flyers for 2006, which I heard could be in excess of 200 feet and break the inversion record at 12 a piece, it would cover that angle. Then in 2007 if they would follow them up with the uber-coaster (uber is a funny word) called Terminal Velocity that's 500 feet tall, they would grab the height and speed records again.

Granted that no other mega parks start added more than one coaster in a year, wouldn't Cedar Point own pretty much every big coaster record there is? It sounds so crazy that it's something they might just do.

This is just me thinking out loud...

It's still me, here from the beginning back in 1999. Add 1500+ posts to the number I have in the info section if you care about such things.
Thats what I'm saying CPgenius, but instead of the dueling flyers (fad), make it dueling floorless. And then in 2007, bulid the ole' 500 footer!
They should also buy all season pass holders personal watercrafts just as a thank you. Seriously, these things you are talking about are super expensive. Get real.

Down is the new up.
I have a cousin who sky dives he said that the max speed was 120 MPH. Terminal Velocity is when air resistance = speed. He said that when he sky dived he had a small parachute on his back to control the fall better.( most of slowed the fall) So I would guess we still have a ways till we hite that point.

Cedar point isn't into breaking inversion records not true. Raptor most inversions of an inverted coaster when opened. Mantis same. Corkscrew most inversions in the world when it opened.

I would be disappointed if they broke 500 feet in 07 I want 600 or 700ft.

Oh yuck a flying coaster with 12 inversions? Yuck! ;) Say it ain't so! *** Edited 10/9/2004 2:56:25 AM UTC by macho nachos***

Why is it that everyone seems to be agaist flyers. I can ride X-Flight all day, every day and not have a problem. I find it to be a great ride, one of the highlights of my trips to GL. I've never been on a B&M flyer so I can't say the same for them.
