Cedar Point Will Be Getting Something New In 2002!

Sunday, July 8, 2001 9:27 AM
I visited Cedar Point on Saturday, July 7, 2001. After I just got done riding the Magnum and heading for the Mean Streak, I bumped into Dick Kinzel (the head honcho of Cedar Point) in front of the Witches Wheel. What impressed me the most was that he was picking up litter in the park. I stopped and talked with him for a few minutes, commenting about his success on how he worked up through the ranks from the bottom to where he is today. I was very impressed with this man, he was out mingling throughout the park, not hiding behind a desk somewhere, getting first hand knowledge how the park is really doing. After talking a bit I asked him, So what is new for next year? Dick Kinzel's response "I can't really say, but I have never known Cedar Point to go 2 years in a row without getting something new" end quote. I said I understand, shook his hand, and went on my way. Now this came right from the horses mouth, get this through your head everyone, Cedar Point is getting something new for next year, what it is one can only speculate, but it must be something pretty good if the head honcho is not spilling the beans. If anyone goes to Cedar Point, keep an eye out for him, he may be mingling throughout the park and if you see him stop and talk with him a few minutes, he is a genuine person, not some arrogant CEO who doesn't have the time to talk to you.

Hello? SFWoA? Are you listening? A big hint at what you need to do.
Actually get out and see your park first hand instead of sitting in the office staring and moaning over the finances and statistics!

That's pretty cool, talking to the CEO :)

I thought it was awesome to talk to the CEO at Cedar Point, it was amazing that no one else there recognized who he was, they were just walking by us like he was a no-body. That is the way a park is supposed to be run and that is why they are so successful.

Is it obvious that Cedar Point is getting a new ride or maybe two. Since SFMM got new rides, Cedar Point will be getting some new rides, roller coasters that is.

I know exactly what it is that they are getting for 2002. Its going to be absolutely amazing. Its going to be a record breaker in a category that Cedar point usually only attains by there height, but heres the catch, its not height.

Well, I also think everyone knows Cedar Point is getting something. Hey, they got something this year.

I think B&M coasters are starting to be very generic, I want something from S&S Sports Power

Hmmm...interesting. I was there on July 3rd, and the latter half of the day I was hanging out with an off duty ride op (from Gemini). While we were waiting in line for MF, I said to him that it would be cool if they had made MF so it winds around the entire peninsula, and he said something to the effect of "that they wanted to do something like that".

We can only hope for a CCI that breaks the length record !

This is a very interesting topic. If indeed Cedar Point builds the worlds longest roller coaster, where would it go? I know that Cedar Point has surprised us in the past putting roller coasters in spots most people thought were unusable (Raptor) but I just don't see a spot were they could build the worlds longest coaster.
