From the Cedar Point blog:
After 31 years of soaking riders (both on the ride and over its splashy bridge), it’s time to “wave” goodbye to the Snake River Falls boat ride.
Opened in 1993, Snake River Falls debuted as the tallest, steepest & fastest water flume ride in the world. Standing 82 feet above Frontier Town, nobody had ever seen anything like it.

To your point, Gunkey, I do agree that things don't look good as far as Live-E, ride operations and the budget cuts of the last few years.
That said, how does it compare to, say, 2005 Cedar Point? Outside of the slower ride operations and the atrocious rain/weather policies the park has adapted that I fully agree are major issues, I would still argue that 2024 Cedar Point comes out ahead of 90s-2000s Cedar Point as far as the overall experience the park can offer. There are still more family friendly opportunities, the resorts are in a different league than they were, the beach is utilized in ways it hadn't been for decades and the food is still miles ahead of what it was (and what other parks are offering). Yes, there was an absolute sweet spot in the 2010s when everything at the park seemed to be firing on all cylinders. But I still think for the once a year guest that drops more $ in a weekend than a passholder does in a six month season, they are doing far more right than wrong.
Of all the things to complain about at CP---and there are some---the removal of a 30 year old not-particularly-popular water ride to establish a pretty good-sized expansion pad has to be pretty far down the list.
Since we’re complaining about Cedar Point, why haven’t they replaced WWL yet? I’m not talking about a water coaster or something with new ride technology I’m talking about a traditional log flume. If they want to make it unique, add an interesting theme or story.
That’s my biggest gripe about Cedar Point.

BrettV:
Technically, they did.
And something like that might be what they do with this larger plot.
I'm assuming it's closing because it's reached its end of useful life.
Given that I remember riding it opening year... I feel so damn old now.
Have I also reached the end of my useful life???

As excited as I was when Cedar Fair announced "Project Dark", I was even more excited that they pulled the plug on it before one of those attractions made their way to Cedar Point.
