The thread showed up as recent because some recently commented on it. However, the original post, which was the one asking for CP advise, was posted in 2000. And yes, if that was a majority of your lifetime ago, you suck. ;)
I still have a little trouble sleeping when I go to a big park for the first time (two years ago was my first trip to KI and I slept the whole night, but tossed and turned). Any other trip, especially to a park I've been to remotely recently or one that doesn't take much planning or effort, barely registers on the excite-o-meter until I'm in the parking lot.
Hobbes: "What's the point of attaching a number to everything you do?"
Calvin: "If your numbers go up, it means you're having more fun."
I still get pretty jazzed when the Cedar Point skyline comes into view from the causeway... My wife hates it because I have trouble focusing on driving.
Now my excitement as we approach most parks revolves more around my 3 year old son. He gets VERY excited, and I feed off his excitement. Last fall when we came out of Breakers and were staring at TTD (his first time seeing it) from across te parking lot he literally started jumping up and down and yelling he wanted to ride the big yellow and red roller coaster. Keep in mind he is THREE YEARS OLD! How can that not get a coaster geek amped up?
But then again, what do I know?
