Cedar Point hopes to get Dragster open this weekend

Posted | Contributed by Goccvp1

Following the closure of Cedar Point's Top Thrill Dragster due to problems with the ride's hydraulic launch system, the park is working with engineers to get the rid back to operating status for the holiday weekend.

You are a good troll.

I,ll give you that.

Ah well. I do hope TTD opens this weekend. I plan on making the trip to the point at the end of August for a couple of days.

Well, I'm really glad to see this comment at the end of the report

"If Top Thrill Dragster is not in operation by this weekend, we will continue our efforts to get the ride back in operation as soon as possible this season," Witherow said. "We are not giving up."

Judgeing from that comment, It seems CP might have abandoned their plans to possibly close the coaster for the season and will try for as long as possible to get it up and running. Also when reading the rest of the report, there is no other mention that it might close for the season so this is promising news :)

I think this is the best move from CP because can you imagine the chaos they are gonna face this summer if the ride is closed????they should really leave any modifications(If needed) untill the off season

SFWOAdude - How do you know the ride wont open. I'm sure CP are trying everything to get the ride open and I have no dought they are trying their best. At least they do things a lot better than at the other park in your screenname(SFWOA) which is the worst Six Flags I've been too by the way.

I just give the park credit for trying to keep the public informed about the issue and not trying to hide it. I'm sure they will continue working hard to give the fans what they want.

That's odd you're calling someone fanboys when your name practically speaks for itself.

SO, please give us great detail as to why Dragster won't run for the rest of the year?

Umm Fury that is a big fat LIE! SFMM does have boards right infront of the tickets booths listing all rides that will be down. They also have one of those huge digtal boards over the parking toll booths also listing ride closures. So if you pay to get in and find a ride or rides down it is your fault for not paying attention to the signs listing the closures.

Also the only reason CP is being so honest about TTD is b/c they don't want the same dramma SFMM had for not being honest with X. Why would CP put themselves in the same situation when they now how willing the GP is to start a lawsuit over dishonesty. Believe me the last thing CP wants is to be caught up in a law suit b/c a guy from Fishing Hole Iowa is pissed TTD wasn't running on his visit.

Anyways I just hope TTD opens ASAP b/c i'm sick of the complaining, whining, and *****ing. My god its a 420 foot 120mph machine and you people don't expect any problems........please get grip on reality b/c shhht happens and everything doesn't go as planned.

X...I still can't believe it wasn't a dream

Give me a break. I doubt CP knows a thing about X other than it's been built. You guys ass-u-me way too much. It just kills me how everything always has to come back to CP v SFMM. I personally don't care how either park has handled their ride difficulties, the fact remains, the ride isn't open.

Everyone repeat after me; Cedar Point is great, Cedar Point is God, Cedar Point can do no wrong, TTD will NEVER breakdown again.
I cant repeat false statements sorry.

Its not gonna run guys. Sorry but we'll have to wait ill next year. They should've just used LIM's even if it would have been a long track.

I cant repeat false statements sorry.

Oh? You seem to be doing quite well on your own.

Lets just see what happens this weekend. We'll all understand if TTD can't operate for the rest of the season. The mechanics have been working hard, so lets just respect CP for that. Hopefully everything workds out.

Boy I love reading posts that think SFMM is better than CP. SWOA your just a mron and obviously don't know how good CP mechanics are. They have dealt with stuff before and usually have rides that break down during the day back up in 10 min. I call that pretty good. If they are determined enough they can get TTD running by the weekend. That is my two cents.
I'd be careful who you call a mron, people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

I'm still waiting for his expert and detailed reasons...

WOA you first say, "Its not gonna run guys. Sorry but we'll have to wait ill next year"

And then you say, "Just face it guys it not gonna get opened to be reliable this year". So which is it, will it open again or not?

All the WOA people throw such a fit that CP gets all the slack, but NO ride or park has recieved such scutiny in Ohio as TTD/CP. X had problems, SUE had problems, SerielThriller had problems, even RWB was down the other day and not once was it a story on the news. Why? Because noone cares about the park except for a few WOA fan boys.

If you hate CP so much just stay out of the CP topics and you will save yourself a lot of grief. Just be happy with your park in Aurora. You sound like you have coaster envy or something.

Is it the 4th yet? Quick, somebody call that place and find out what they're waiting for. I have to know. Please, the suspense is killing me.Aaauuughhhh!

NO GOOD !!

LET'S GET YOGURT !!!

Now on to the subject at hand ... if it's up, it's up. If it's not, it's not. Let's just deal with it. I mean they are doing what they can to get it up and running again if not for the customers (which I'm sure is their main reason) or at least just to get self pretentious pricks who have nothing better to do than try to make them look bad for having problems with something they have no control over.

For instance, say you buy a new car and its a lemon. Is it your fault ?? No. To quote a great man, "You're just a victim of circumstance." - Curly. As is what happened with TTD. They paid a company to construct this for them and its having some problems. CP is just a victim of circumstance.

So let's all just get along. If you have nothing better to do than talk smack on a park and have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all.

Its like my junior high school principal used to say:

"It's nice to be nice." - Mr. Trincia

And I thought that coasters were the only thing that went downhill fast! It's amazing that when this topic posted, SFWoAdude tried to warn people not to get too worked up over the ride opening again this season because as of yet it hasn't proven itself reliable. Next thing you know he's being asked, "Is that your expert opinion ?", and downhill we went!! Wow, if you get all worked up over someones opinion and call them a moron just because you don't agree with them, you've got worse problems then some ride in Sandusky.

Wood - anything else is just an imitation

He said "it's not gonna to run". He said nothing about not getting "too worked up over the ride opening again this season". In fact, he said what he said to get people worked up. That was his intension. He did not state his opinion. He stated his opinion as a fact. He did it so later on in the thread he could call people fanboys for disagreeing with his opinion. He did it to cause problems.
