Cedar Point was CF's first park, sort of like spoiling the first born. Plus, as they are in a coaster war with SFMM I belive that would also be a reason why they get more coasters but they should (for whichever parks are under their control) begin more evened out improvements.

Rollercoasters are the secret of life!http://www.woodencoaster.com
Cedar Point isn't in a war with anyone. I've said it a thousand times. The average Ohio and SoCal resident could care less that a park thousands of miles away has more or less coasters.
To really appreciate how this company works, you have to remove your enthusiast shoes and be an average person, and someone with just a little common business sense. A sophisticated company they're not.

They may be simple, but CF:LP is one of the most respected Limited Partnerships that there is.

I hate it! I wish Valleyfair! was a Six Flags park, even middle of nowhere Six Flags parks with no competetion get more than Valleyfair!! Sure, we got Wild Thing, but it was nothing special - barely over 200 feet high, and a standard layout. Yes, we got Power Tower, but it "only" has three towers (better than two, I guess), but that's not something I haven't been on a billion times before. EVERY park has an S&S launch tower! Usually it's about 4 years or so between VF's big rides, so it'll probably be 2004 when we next get something here, and it'll probably be some average coaster. I reaaaaly wish that there was some competition up here, so that CF would add more stuff more often. Plus, it never hurts to have more local coasters.
ALSOOO... VF and WoF and Dorney usually don't get as much cool stuff as often as CP cuz they aren't as popular. But if CF added lots of EXCELLENT, original, exciting, fun, and occasionally record-breaking coasters and other rides at the OTHER parks, people from OUT OF STATE and CLOSER to another park would make a point to come to VF or WoF or Dorney. Excellent, original, exciting, fun, and occsionally record-breaking rides often come to CP, and they have lots of them, so people come there. I'm going to Ohio this summer just to go to CP (SFWoA side trip), but I know that Ohioans, or anyotherstateians wouldn't come to MN JUST to go to Valleyfair. I could go on... but I won't.
I hope The OZ theme park is built because then hopefully WoF will have some competition. We haev a little competition from SFStL but with Oz here maybe CF will hook us up with some sweet coasters.
Quote: Yes we are proud to have two highly rated coasters at our park, one that was rated #1 for awhile.
Hey, at least you have more than 1 highly rated coaster. VF had 7 years between coasters and they get a decent never recognized hyper.
IT is all about numbers. THe more visitors you have a year the more income you have. the more income you have the more rides or attractions you can add. Cedar point is a destination place that on the average has about 4 million guest a year.
IF valley fair only has 1 million guest a year who do you think would be the likely canidate to get a new ride every year. There are also factors like rival parks and how fast plans get through and if park anniversy or other important years.
it is just good financing to. with parks that have lower attendence rates it is impractical for them to get a huge ride every year.
Ok I think that we are either going to have a pitty party or were going to start a flame war, I'm not sure which yet, it could go still go either way.
Above someone stated my quote about WOF having two ranked coasters. Here are their rankings
Currently Timber Wolf is ranked 19 in the top 25 wood coasters. In 1991 it was ranked the #1 coaster in the world.
Mamba is ranked #20 in the top 25 steel coasters.
Also at one time Orient Express was one of the top ten coasters. It is still one of TWO coasters with interlocking loops and the first coaster to feature a kamakazi-kurve more commonly known as a boomerang element.
WOF Fanatics really can't complain about the quality of coasters that we have. I would rather have quality than quantity any day.
Also there are whispers that the coaster for 2001 may have been bumped back a year because the rights to put in another Camp Snoopy became available. CF:LP has to request permission each time they decide to put in a new one from the right owners of Snoopy and the Peanut gang.

I really wish that people would not mention Dorney in the same category as WoF and Valleyfair because they have been treated like royalty over the past few seasons. Not only has Dorney had several years in a row in which capital expenditures have reached new records, but wonderful rides, buildings, and landscaping has come about because of that. Richard Kinzel has stated that he is very happy with Dorney and its productivity. Anyone who is a fan of DPWWK should not complain, we have been blessed with Cedarfair.
To all you people who think that think SF is so wonderful at improving their parks:
COULD ANYONE TELL ME WHAT SF HAS DONE TO SFKK THAT IS SO WONDERFUL?????
Thank you
I didn't think it'd be this big of a heated exchange. This argument is kind of pointless because the people who are looking for pity won't get any because the majority of coasterbuzzers here are in an area where there is a lot amusements parks within driving distance. They wouldn't understand what we're trying to get at, because they've never experienced our situation (for the most part) People's who's home parks are VF and WoF seem to be like a second class enthusiast on this board.
That last sentence isn't designed to upset anyone, because I think its true. We usually don't get to ride all these confangeled devices like the other kids do, and while we were originally pretty happy with our parks we started to go on this message board and go "Hey we don't have nearly as much stuff to ride on as all these other fellas." Some of us got jealous, while others let it slide off their back and roll with the punches (Jordan Dunham does a great job of this, he's a realist)
My advice for all of us guys outside of the Coaster belt is to just deal with your situation for now. Because we're not going to get a whole lot of sympathy on these forums.

I guess I see your point Randy. It's easy to tell someone to "shut up" or "get over it", if your home park is Cedar Point, PKI, SFMM ect. I just feel like if you guys are patient, something great will come to WOF and VF in 2002. These are both really nice parks by the way.
This a comment to anyone is US and have it a homepark, CF o SF!!
Do you said thats has a rolllercoaster every four years. I got tell you something feel lucky!!
I live in Monterrey, Mexico and mi homeparks are Plaza Sesamo (A little park theme in Sesame Street Characters) the parks has two coaster both for kids and one standard space shot tower, and a chaos, the park has five years running and never has a big improvement in the coaster departament.
Another sad history the other park in town, calls Bosque Magico, has only two coasters one is the really old scharwof, the one who was in Magic Mountian is some time, but good news (This is kinda sarcastic) we had one big atraction this year, a new coaster Whirlwind from Vekoma, the one in Boobjeland before, this is sad but a great step for us at the same time!!
So please stop this argue, you got at least one big coaster in each of youre homeparks, believe youre in heaven!!
I had to make a big trip every year to US (Tx,Oh,PA,Ga,Mo,Il) just to get in the big coasters, and i never complain about, doesnt matter where the new and big coaster are, the main reason here, is thanks god for giving us a new coaster every year no matter where they are!!
Juan
Mexican Coasterfreak!!
Thanks god for our first real coaster Whirlwind

Keeping Coaster!!
I'd be amazed if Elitch ever got another coaster.
Well, anything more than a tiny footprint shuttle of somekind.
We need to listen to what Juan Jose Rdz said in his last post. We are basically spoiled here in the U.S. Juan has to cross the borders to experience top notch rides. This should give a good perspective as to why we have it so good here in this country. If you look at all of the other countries with coasters, we are very lucky. Think about that. SF,CF,Paramount are expanding here like the plague.

"SAVING THE WORLD BEFORE BEDTIME" Powerpuff girls
Everyone really has made excellent points on this thread. It really comes down to the business point I see every day. You have to spend money to make money, but you can't spend money you haven't made. You build big rides to bring in guests, but if a park doesn't bring in a lot of guests, they won't get the big ride. Another example of this can be seen in auto racing. You hear driver's say they need to get a sponsor in order to win, but in order to get a sponsor, they have to win. "We will have a triumphant band if we get Eddie Van Halen..." from Bill & Ted's Horrible Movie, I mean Excellent Adventure. I'm lucky. I grew up in Columbus, and currently live in Cincinnati. Great parks are so close. PKI, CP, KW,SFKK,SFO(or whatever), etc...
