Since it is official now I can spill the beans.
Unfortunately Denise Dinn and Randy Larrick are divorcing. Denise headed the business side of things and Randy oversaw the construction side of the business.
I had heard about this a while back, and hoped it was just a rumor. But of course it is indeed true.
Best luck to both of them. They provided us with some great coasters.

This is so sad. All of the CCI I have ridden (4), they all were terrific, magnificent, brillant, masterpieces! I can't belive this is really happening.

CCI is dead. Long live CCI.
Here's a link for you....though it seems I am eight minutes late with it. That's an eternity on the internet...or when trading stocks...or in a basketball game. Whatever.

Yes, this is the thing that I knew, but given my business relationship with them, it wasn't my place to say anything until they were ready. I never heard from CCI directly, only people let go, so there was no official word. Now there is, and it's a serious bummer.
As PointMan mentioned above, the company had a ton of talented people, and it's my hope that they can band together and start a new company. However, there are a lot of challenges involved. You can't start a company and work for free, you need some capital (if that weren't true I wouldn't be working for "the man" right now).

I'm not sure this is the last we'll see of Denise or Randy as coaster designers. I bet at least one of them will get back in the mix.
However, I don't think I'm quite as sad as I should be over this. Nothing against CCI, they make GREAT rides (Timbers, Raven, Legend) but some of the best coasters I've ridden are from GCI anyway (Lightning Racer, Roar, Wildcat & Gwazi). Of course, none of the CCIs are going anywhere, and again, I don't think this company (the employees, at least) are going to be gone for long.
Well all those people have to work somewhere. I am sure that where great woodies are needed great woodies will be built.
A new company will be there and while not CCI I am sure many of CCI's employees will work for it.

My apology to OLOV.
Really, I am sorry for calling you a liar but I checked all through RRC and didn't see that.
I really was trying to respect the co. owners.
Sorry for being a Arse.

Look at the awesome would that CCI has made over the last 10 years. I am very grateful for that and I am looking forward to wheer these employess will go.
GCI and CCI hybrids would be pretty darn cool coasters. ;)
-----------------
So what if there is no more CCI. We still have Raven, Legend, Shivering Timbers, Cornball Express, and 31 other coasters to enjoy.
Hoping PTC gets back in the business of building (Rebbie to the rescue), or that GCI can afford to bring in some of the CCI folks.....truly sad day......however, there is now some GREAT coaster-folk available for hire - we just need that "capital" Jeff referred to.....
CCI is a company full of talent. This is not the first time that a major wood coaster manufacturer simply ceased to exist; it happened in 1990 with the death of Curt Summers, and the result was CCI. There is so much talent at CCI, and there appears to be enough demand for that talent, that it seems inevitable that some new entity will rise from the remains of CCI.
From the sound of it, trying to keep the family business going as the family disintegrates would probably be unreasonably complicated. Sadly, it sounds like this was the cleanest option available.
