Carrowinds new coaster name

That press release is hilarious! I can't wait to see it.

I am not sure I like the name but I am sure it will grow on me.

The BORG Ass! Love it!

I guess I'm no longer ashamed of "The Flying Coaster." ;)
Why is everyone so pessimistic? The name is fine. Besides, whats the point in complaining? It's done, thats the name, and it really isn't that bad... actually, I like it. And with the new ride concept survey I just took (the theming was incredible on them), I am sure we will find excellent theming on this coaster. Even if you don't like Star Trek, think of it as an alien theme (which it is, because the ride is based on the Borg characters from Star Trek) or a space theme... so stop the whining and enjoy it! It's going to be great. :)

Another thing, stop doubting Paramount and theming, because they can do an excellent job. I think a lot of people will be suprised for whats in store for the future.

(By the way, on the sign outside the park, the name they put up is 'Star Trek - Borg Assimilator'. Come on guys, it's a good name! Admit it!) *** Edited 1/16/2004 10:09:34 PM UTC by ghettocoaster***

Er....no! I think the name sux0rx and I am not ashamed to admit it. While I trust Paramount will do an outstanding job in theming, this name will be the joke of 2k4. As PT300 said though, this will take the heat off Elitch for their awe inpsired "Flying Coaster".

Fate is the path of least resistance.

....and to think how recently we were laughing about the Dog Fart coaster....;)

The name IS just that, a name, and seriously, I don't think many people are going to get off the ride saying "great ride, terrible name"....it's just something for us coaster geeks to talk about.....and ridicule...:)

You guys are entitled to your opinion, I just don't see how it's a bad name. Oh well... :(

Also, another thing to look foward to is that there might be a pre-show, but don't quote me on that.

Probably has alot to do with those not familiar with the BORG. Not that I'm a Trekkie geek at all, but I did enjoy TNG, and the Borg was definitely the most interesting and entertaining new ST nemesis introduced in decades. The possibilities for amazing theming with such a cool and vicious villian are endless. Yes, they could have picked a better name, but if you're at all familiar with the BORG, it's really not that bad of a name, and I'm sure it was chosen as part of the story line that will most likely involve their attempt to assimilate you into their collective.

Has any concept artwork being release yet of the theming? If the station and lift hill are enclosed in the ship, they could really do some amazing sets and special effects with these sections. Once you start flying though, the views will all just be a big blur, so it would be pointless to have anything going on once you're off the lift.

No concept art yet. The loading station will not be the ship. The ship will be located somewhere along the course (maybe half in the water, half on the land?) and you fly around it/over it, and I don't know if you go through the ship while in the queue line. I'm not sure what the station will be yet either, but I am sure it will be themed. *** Edited 1/16/2004 10:43:54 PM UTC by ghettocoaster***
I still hate that the Star Trek franchise is being wasted on a hand-me-down gimmick coaster. Both Vekoma and B&M have surpassed this prototype design.

Star Trek is Paramount biggest franchise and deserves something extoraordinary. Hopefully the theming will make up for the horrible name(should have been Star Trek Nemisis if it had to be Star Trek) and the "used" status. Yes I know the general public will have no idea it's used,I'm speaking as an enthusiast.

Perhaps the best thing that can come of this is that the theme will be a huge success and the other Paramount parks will build custom B&M fliers with the theme.

i know. the colors were Nemesis colors.
They are also 'Borg' colors... here *** Edited 1/16/2004 11:53:47 PM UTC by ghettocoaster***

Yes! (Crossing fingers for a Star Trek themed Intamin Rocket coaster at PGA!).

As far as Stealth coming to my side of the country, whoo-hoo!!! As far as the Star Trek theme...rock bottom, simply the worst. Actually I don't know, the deadly, mysterious sphere at the end of the path is potentially a very stirring/freaky X-Files type thing, but for it to be Star Trek is kind of bleah for a coaster...it's got potential for a simulator however... I can't think of any real world-to-coaster-themes (offhand) that I like save for the Hulk. *** Edited 1/17/2004 12:31:22 AM UTC by Stan***
Personally, I've been hoping for a Star Trek themed flying coaster for years with a Klingon Bird of Prey theme, but this will do nicely, as I love the Borg. I don't care a great deal for the name as a coaster name(great name for a simulation, but a well).

I think the Themeing and station have great potential to be wonderful. Carowinds has stepped a notch up for theming the last few years, and I think this could be great.

Borg theme, crashsite, flying around an island in the middle of a theme park, Can't wait till May(yes I'm going then!!!!)

Ermm.. actually I would like to see this ride be themed indoors like Disaster Transport. That would rock! But it aint gonna happen.

Personally, I'm very excited. Its not like the general public will get off the ride and say "Wow! B&M should have built this ride!" or "Why do we get a Vekoma Prototype?". All of my friends that I've talked to are really excited.... they wont know that the seats were supposed to recline on the lift, and they wont notice a few bumps here and there.

I'm also very excited about the theming, I think Carowinds will do a great job. The East Coast has been lucky this year IMO. HersheyPark's Rocket Coaster, Thunderhead, and BORG Ass. (the name COULD have been a little more imaginative). 2004 is shaping up to have a really good summer!

"The mourning period is over and the only silver lining is that George W Bush is now prohibited by law to run again" Well, at least we have a silver lining
Not only are we getting a highly themed attraction, but Vortex will be painted, and we are getting two new shows - a Nickelodeon Celebration Parade and a Making of the Movie Magic show. 2004 sounds like a great year:)
