Carowinds 2004 pics UPDATED!!

Actually, the park did confirm that January 15th is the announcement date, and a press release will be sent out that day. Soon we will know for sure :)

What is the sphere for?

Themeing, in Star Trek: First Contact the "Borg" had a ship that was a sphere.

That's gonna be a small sphere. I was hoping for some very elaborate theming. Not some quick fix. The Borg ships are huge including the spheres which could be catagorized as escape pods.

I'm sure they had to scale the borg sphere down to fit in the ride area, i'm not griping. at least they are theming this ride, why whine? if it were a scale ship, it would be huge and too costly.

Is this thing supposed to be open for their opening day? I'm really itchin for a park fix and since Charlotte's cheap on E-Savers out of Pittsburgh, I was thinkin of flying down for a quick weekend on their opening weekend. Anyone know if its a delayed open?

I wouldn't be surprised. Then again whenever we actually see pictures of the park they are already like a week old, meaning that they may be further along than we think.

From previous experience w/ paramount parks.........all their attractions are open and ready for the first operating day, w/ the exception of the water park stuff. And since this is just a relocation im sure everything will be fine!! Including the weather (which right now in columbia at aprox. 5:29 is 66F!!

I don't mind the color scheme at all. And that goes for the ride too. I guess that i'm going to be one of the few who will ride it if I get there ever. Ooh well, shorter lines for me. :)

The tiny sphere does look odd, I guess I was also expecting full scale theming like at ST:TE.

I agree some theming is better than none, just that this seemed like it was gonna be a major prop from all the press releases. Didn't the PR say something about entering the ship for a Borg encounter?

You'd think they'd spring for more elaborate theming since this is a hand me down coaster, and really the only significant out of the ordinary cost was to dismantle and move the coaster across the country. Oh well, I'll wait to see the finish product before making any final decisions.

It's funny I am planning to make the 9 hour (each way) trip opening weekend like i did last year basically for every thing the park has to offer but BORG. Hell if BORG is down I won't be disappointed (plus it would be the first time "this" coaster has been down for me. When I was at PGA in Aug last year it was closed all day). I doubt any of the kinks have been left in CA if anything I bet PC will have more problems than PGA had with it.

I've done 5 flyers. Batwing, X-Flight, The Flying Coasters at SFEG and SUF at both SFGAm and SFGAfv. I love SUF. The Vekomas actually have some big gs but a rough and their's to much back time. The only thing I am exicited about borg is the corkscrew and possibly the theming.

Ill just flat out say it I LOVE the colors. gj carowinds!

I think the colors are panning out nicely, and the loop looks very sleek. I think I would've liked a more shiny green, but it doesn't matter.

I think the color scheme looks alright, but I can't see how it would fit in with a Star Trek type theme. Then again I never watched Star Trek, so I wouldn't really know.
