can't find wacky worlds

And you guys are surprised there are no new rides? You knew this from the first day of screenshots.

The game description is to build successful parks, and the new theming makes it easier and better looking. I'll get it, and the coaster cars look creative.

Chris Sawyer is a big fake. Its RCT. Roller Coaster Tycoon. Not Theme Tycoon.

Well it's also not "Flat Ride Tycoon" so the lack of flat rides shouldn't be a problem. New themes seem to bug you. With flats and themes out of the way the only extras that could be added are coasters.

So what other coasters did you expect? Rocket coaster? Ok, then I'd be pissed to pay $30 for a disc that adds one new coaster.

coastergoose, you win me over a little more with each post :)

well I have it now... Got it at Game Spot. Anyways, the biggest thing I am ticked at is not the lack of flats or anything like that. I guess I was vainly hoping that they would have upped the number of objects you can have for a scenario. With all the added theming objects it is now REALLY hard to decide which ones to include and which ones to leave out...

You know, what pisses me off is these people knew since January that the expansion pack would be like this, and then when it is released, they rush to buy it so they can say it is awful for reasons this expansion pack wasn't trying to cover. I knew it would be a scenary expansion pack, and I have no problem with this, since I always thought the game lacked good scenary.

Trust me, even most of the people who vowed not to buy it will. It is RCT. It will sell.

But can someone explain to me how everyone thinks this game is bringing down the series? It can only make it more popular with the GP.

Well, damn you for being so vain! ;)

I think I mentioned this in another thread (and I have no basis in fact to think this), but I believe the scenery limits have to do with coding limits.

The number of each type of scenery you can have most likely aren't just arbitrary numbers. I think the limits are what they are for a reason. If there was nothing holding it back, then it'd just make sense to have everything be available all the time (especially in custom scenarios).

I think most of the complaints (lack of new innovative flats, limitations on peeps, employees, and scenery/rides, etc) are all the result of the code the game was done in. My gut feeling is that there's something in there that would require a major rewrite to add some of these requests. The thing about new scenery and new themed rides is that the code stays the same , but just references different sprites. This lets "add-on's" come really easily.

As for the lack of a super significant jump between RCT and RCT two - I think it's mostly the same code, just tweaked up a little.

So assuming my assumptions are correct, the stuff so many people (and by "so many people", I mean enthusiasts who get anal about crap like this) want to see won't come until a major coding change or as we on the streets will know it - RCT3.

At this rate, I don't believe there ever will be an RCT3.

I Got mine today at circuit city, Chris Sawyer isnt even mentioned in the credits, so did he have any work on it at all. Plus some of the scenarios don't work cause they are missing object data, also i tried making a scenario with some of the new stuff and when i went to load it there was an error. IMO more work and time shoud of went into it. I think for the next expansion if there is one, they should take ideas from the people who actually play the game.

Why? Because you don't like WW? This game (RCT) is very popular with the general public, and unlike you, they aren't as strict on this game as you are.

Just because you didn't like the game doesn't mean everybody else won't.

Gonchar: Yes, I think it is a matter of code limits. You'll notice that many of the restrictions are binary "power of 2" numbers (128, 64, etc.), so my guess is that Sawyer's code, which is low-level machine language, has memory mapped out in such a way that you can't just add to it because you then offset following memory locations, which are referenced from all over the code. That would, on the surface, seem like a bad design decision, but then think about the efficiency needed by the game to manipulate thousands of people, their behaviour, rides, growing grass, ducks, employees, etc. That's a lot of stuff to do!

Sometimes my wild guesses pay off. Thank you for that insight, Jeff. (my programming experience is limited to the Commodore 16 I had when I was 11 - but I kicked butt with it :) )

I did not mean to make everyone pissed at me. But coastergoose, whats your problem. I know your glad to see more scenery. But hey, maybe there should be some more rides, and I had no clue there was going another expansion pack for freakin RCT2. I thought RCT 2 was supposed to have enough scenery to keep people occupied for a while. I'm really starting to think Chris Sawyer wasn't involved in this...... So everyone needs to calm down, it is not my fault that I express my opinion about WW. Everyone has a different opinion about things, and so do you coastergoose, but that does not give you the right to fuss at me about my opinion. You need to chill out, and when the site says it is released on May 6, it is supposed to be released to the public, which means everyone should be able to get it on that date. I am sorry everyone for stirring you up.........

Heh... at least the "Fire Cracker" Enterprise makes it look like a different ride. Which is pretty neat since it is "still" the same ride. But still fooled everyone that it was a Chaos.
