Canceled Coasters

Do you know of coasters that were purchased than canceled at the last minute. The only ones I know of were the 700ft Fish Hoook, Morgan's Hyper for MA, And the Giga in Germany. Anymore?

WHAT no coaster to be built in Ohio in 04? Why are we being punished! What next? No more Rollercoaster Tycoon expansion packs.

When did MA cancel a Morgan hyper? I had always thought that to be a rumor and nothing more.

Now, if you're referring to SFM's Morgan hyper, then that's a different story...

The stand-up floorless LIM-launched wooden log flume that CP was supposed to get. TAER IT DOWN.

;) Sorry. Personally I'd like to see proof of some of those on that site. i.e., who ever said Hypersonic was "supposed" to go to PGA?

Mr freeze @ SFGAM would have rocked. Oh well. Intamin Hyper @ SFWOA sounded cool too.

Six Flags is famous for "moving" projects from one park to another. We can only wonder what "could have been" if original plans were kept!

Well actually Den, they did have the teasers up at Great America saying "0-80mph in two seconds". The layout was all planned and rides were moved. Then all of a sudden, a mouse shows up.

I thought that Hypersonic was built at PKD because they decided against adding a Flying Dutchman?

Pretty much certain at this point that the wooden coaster listed for SFAW ended up as *my* Cheetah! Thanks to the "land of misfit rides", I have a CCI 100 miles from home....not ALL cancellations turn out badly. ;)

On the flip side, there were actually TWO coasters planned for the Orlando Sheraton. The Hammerhead Stall was one, but I forget now what the other one was s'posed to be....

The Hammerhead Stall - I completely forgot about that one!
Arrow Madd Mouse was the other

Rollergator: the other coaster planned for the Orlando Sheraton was simply a wild mouse. I'm not sure if they ever released who would manufacture it, but for some reason I'm thinking it was Arrow.

As for Hypersonic, yes, it was intended for PGA and was moved fairly last minute. It's likely that it *was* moved to PKD because they had decided against a flying Dutchman for that park and PGA had already gotten theirs.

Finally, SFGAm was not necessarily going to get a Mr. Freeze clone, but just a Premier shuttle coaster. My guess is that it would have been more like Chiller to increase capacity, but was cancelled because of all the difficulties with the other Premier rides.

Wow... I didn't even know about that Sheraton park in Orlando, let alone the two coasters that were supposed to go there!

Gemini was suppose to go to a canceled CF Michigan park somewhere in the Irish Hills if I remember correctly.

Hmm, that website left Thrillopolis, a new park considered for Nashville in 2002, off of the cancelled park list. Does that mean I can get my crushed hopes up again? ;-)

Nashville needs a theme park!
Don't forget SFA's stand up coaster was cancelled in 01 for Batwing, which we got from PKD after they decided against building it & went with H:SXLC instead at the last minute.

Does anyone know if SFWOA had a different coaster originally planned but cancelled for X-Flight?

Anyone who is willing to talk have and info on Bell's in Tulsa? Robert Bell Jr. still tells people in town (not media) that plans for a new woodie haven't been scrapped. I was hoping someone (Zingo w/out the punctuation, maybe?) would have something they are willing to share...

Last I talked with Robbie Bell he said that it was still in court. If I see him tomorrow (kids are on the same football team) I ask him some more details.

I asked him why he didn't leave and build somewhere else and he said the amount of business he does during the Tulsa State Fair would be too hard to replace. The fair last year had over 1 million visitors.

Like I said I'll see if I can get some more information tomorrow.

Thanks, Zingo. It is awsome to know the Bell family is doing well, business-wise. Good luck to your kids' season; I sure do miss OK fall and winter football games. Go Tulsa Memorial!

Add one:

Junior woodie. Was to be made by Coasterworks! for 2000 at La Ronde. From what I can tell, its whould have went around the general area which Vampire take part of. Unfortunately, the 1999 workers strike at La Ronde scrapped the project.
