C-Net, Washington Post, offer reachable news alternative in wake of attacks

Posted | Contributed by Jeff

While traditional news sources are nearly unreachable, two sites beat Internet bottelneck following a series of terrorist attacks that have likely killed thousands of people in the US. Since you're obviously not having any problem reaching CoasterBuzz, check out the following links for news:

Washington Post - They apparently have some amazing trick going serving via Akamai. Site loads very quickly.

C-Net's News.com - Traditionally a tech news site, they've got a good lock on getting the wire reports up.

i TOTALLY agree with Jeff....please everyone, no more vicious comments towards the Middle East..our common welfare must come first.  my prayers go out to the victims and their families...may the Lord be with them....also. CB member Millenium Force, you said something about "president wimpy", and why wasnt he in DC??  i cant believe youd even consider saying that!  its president BUSH, not wimpy...and he wanted to return to DC, but was advised, in order to maintain a working government to relocate to a safe position.  now is not the time to attack our president, and i, as well as hopefully many others would appreciate it if you would not make comments like that again.  keep your opinions about our leaders to yourself at this time....he needs our support right now.  thanks again Jeff for allowing CB members to voice our opinions about this horrific attack on our country.

Yes... I am saddened how many people take advantage of the situation as just another opportunity for Bush-bashing. This is a emergency, people. The last thing we need is this kind of division.

A bad day at Cedar Point is better than a good day at work.
Another thing that upsets me was people in earlier posts putting this was horrible, BUT "If they bomb Cedar Point, I'll be really mad."  Some things are more important than roller coasters people!  In fact, a lot of things are more important than roller coasters in this world.  I thought that was made apparant today.  Thousands of innocent Americans died earlier today and comparing the destruction of a ride to all those people dying is just an ignorant comment to make.  Drop the roller coaster idea for once and start thinking about what a horrible tragedy this has been for Our Great Country.

I think that President Bush has done a great job so far, and we ALL need to support him 100%!  We as Americans need to Unite at this time.  We also need to pray for everyone that is related in anyway to these horrible happenings.  Let's also hope and pray that we can resolve this problem without more losses of INNOCENT human life.  If any kind of battle does occur though, we will end up the victor and justice will be served.

First and foremost, please take a moment to think of and pray for all of the innocent people who lost their lives  today in this aweful occurance (we're talking about THOUSANDS of people here!). Second, please donate blood as soon as possible so that it may be put to good use. Okay, with that said, here is what should be commented on. If you think that this terrorist attack on the US will spark a World War 3, you are seriously misguided. I cannot say for sure, but I have a feeling bin Laden had a big part in this. He might be innocent although highly unlikely, but it might just be a retaliation for the death of his daughter in one of the palace bombings in his country a couple of years back (by the way, yesterday was the anniversary of her death). Anyway, I seriously hope that the US government will not take actions toward a country that is also innocent (however much they might have a dislike for us). Anyone remember the celebrations in Arab countries that took place yesterday? If the government does take action, it just proves that it is as weak as the person or people who did this to our great country. With this whole thing comes a couple of realizations. One, we are a strong nation. Two, we have a strong military. Three, this will be felt for a long time. Whoever did this will pay, rest assured, but we cannot place blame yet, until all the facts are collected. As I have just seen on the news, "This will be the new date that will live in infamy." Please be thankful that it wasn't you. Please pray for those unfortunate people.
Speaking of the trick with Akamai. The co-founder of this content company died when he slammed into the WTC as well. He was the CTO.

Speedfreak,

I did research on your quote.  On a Nostradamus website, your quote was debunked.  Here is the link http://www.nostradamus-repository.org/cityofgod.html

With all of this going on plus the recent amusement park deaths.. does Amusement Park Safety take a back seat for a while? That will be very interesting.

There will be no WW3 because of this. It is clear that this was a terrorist act, not the act of a nation.

I recently found out that the country Asama Bin Ladan is supposedly in (Afghanistan I believe) will not turn him over because fear or retaliation from their own people. Now that this has come up, I can definately see the US declaring war on them for, I go as far to say, aiding him in hiding from the US. Whether is be in-directly or not.

If it was Osama bin Laden that was behind these terrorist acts, I think he and his country (although not all deserving) will get what's coming to them. I just cannot believe that they do not know for SURE who it was that was behind this. Anyway, as Bush said in his statement to the US people, "We will prevail."
