C-Net, Washington Post, offer reachable news alternative in wake of attacks

Jordon- A news station showed footage of Kabul, Afghanistan being bombed (this is apparently where Bin Ladin's headquarters are). Supposedly, the U.S. is not involved in the bombings happening right now...interesting.

Hopefully rescuers will be able to get to any survivors left in the ruble. My heart goes out to the families.

there was a sonic boom here earlier from a jet from wright-patt base, startled me....

news said it was either fighters or Air Force One carrying President Wimpy,he should have been in D.C. or N.Y.instead of Omaha

does anybody know if Astroland&Cyclone were damaged?

First off, this is a great tragedy in America. But what I found interesting is that I'm reading this book about this guy who predicts the future. Here is one of the quotes:

"In the City of God there will be a great thunder, Two brothers torn apart by Chaos, while the fortress endures, the great leader will succumb. The third big war will begin when the big city is burning"

I dunno, but everything sounds just like that. It very well could be World War III

If this starts WW3, it won't be much of a war.  Russia Japan, and the other world powers will not support a cowardly act like this.  There's just no way.  So basically it will be every country in the world vs. a few tiny middle east countries.

If a battle occurs, it won't be a war, but a revolution.  A sad day in America, and even though I pray to God we don't go into battle, America will end up on top, forever and ever!

Flight number 11 = 11
Flight number 93 = [9+3 = 12]
Flight number 175 = [1+7+5 = 13]
Flight number 77 = [7+7 = 14]

I may appear that it's not over. Once the air planes are allowed to fly again, don't board if the numbers add up to 15! Just as a precaution...

There will be no WW3 because of this. It is clear that this was a terrorist act, not the act of a nation.

First, look at their target: the world trade center, a symbol of capitolism. It's the perfect target for communist radicals, but any smart foreign nation would go after the Capitol building or the White House. It's true that the Pentagon was also hit, but if the Pentagon had been the major target, they would have hijacked an earlier plane and hit the Pentagon before it was evacuated.

Also, does anybody think any country with the power to pull this off would be able to do so undetected? It's one thing to monitor the actions of foreign nations; it's quite another to monitor the actions of terrorists you don't know exist.

yeah, really.  and that is a interesting thing cpgenious? how did you figure that out? that could be something useful to the feds or something.  maybe they are finishing unfinished buisness, like we did something to them ten times, or maybe did this to ten cities, etc etc.  i dunno.  it almost sounds like a movie...

This is sad, the archbishop of washign said that we shoudl resist the temptation to lash out in rvenge or vengance. which is true, we're walking on thin ice here, one false move any one our government or forgeign not so friendly governments. this is a time to be careful and tread lightly.

mamba makes a good point.  I also don't think that this will formulate into WW3, simply because it's not world powers going against each other.  Every single world power would be on our side, and the "war" would be over with very soon...  it could end up that Afghanistan and Bin Ladin are both taken out.

This will not result in a World War III, let's be realistic. This is a hostile act by a terrorist organization, albeit no specific group or individual has yet come forward to claim responsibility (regardless of who we think it is). Even if we wanted to attack someone in retaliation, who would we attack? In President Bush's address at 8:30pm this evening, he stated that we will not treat kindly those that are harboring the instigators of this act, but in reality we may never know for certain, despite how shattering an event this is. If this were an act of war by a foreign nation, they would claim it as such, as Japan did sixty years ago. Then yes, we would know whom to fight. Tonight, we do not.

I highly doubt the start of another world war. Here are my reasons

The small size of the party resposible for this attack, if they were large enough to actually face us, they would not resort to terrorism.

As has been commented A World War has been started by groups as small as this one. WWI  quickly split Europe into sides. However, there are very few countries which, would side with the alleged terrorists. Russia Germany and Japan are nothing of the powers they use to be. Our biggest fear should be China.

And yet the best Reason that we weould start WWIII...

It is a very eerie environment, the movie independence day seems all to familiar. The Crashing of the building, followed by the Cloud of debris. right out of the movie. The dramatic falling steel limbs. Right out of a jerry Bruckheimer Movie. It is also weird because Jerry Bruckheimer Just Directed a take on the other great attack on American Soil. Also the lane crahing into the building is an image no one will soon forget.  All of this led it to have a really dreamish feel to the day.

This is my opinion, so don't get on my back.

When it comes to death total, I relate this attack to Pearl Harbor.  But when it comes to the kind of attack, I compare it to a school shooting.  Pearl Harbor was an attack by a country to make the USA get into the war.  This was a group of people who wanted to see America suffer and scare us.  Their home country was in no way part of this, or knew about this.
