Boulder Dash question

AV Matt, it's at the FAR end of the park. The only way you would've seen it is if you'd gone on the skyride (or the rapids itself)...I'm thinking you did neither... ;)

BorntoCoast Said: On May 25 I'll be going to my NUMBER ONE Hybrid Park, Holiday World! (A Hybrid Park is a Traditional Park that has "Evolved" to a point where it has taken on the Characturistics of a Theme Park!)

*Buzzer sound* Wrong-O Holiday World is and has always been a theme park. Even before it was Holiday World (Santa Claus Land) it was a theme park.

Anyways, as a woodie lover, I cannot wait to ride this coaster. It sounds like something that could compare to the Raven. A tamer ride during the day and at night it goes totally bonkers!

I thought Santa Claus Land could be tagged as a "Kiddieland" which in my book, is a type of Traditional Park, along with Trolley Parks and Resort Parks. If I'm wrong then EXCUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUSE ME!
Boulder Dash is a work of art and anyone that doesn't place the coaster AT LEAST in their Top 10 is guilty of riding the coaster when it's not running up to speed. In more than a dozen visits to "The Lake" I've never experienced Boulder Dash on an off day but I understand it happens.

Do yourself a favor and ride it without knowing what it does. You'll be in for a treat. After you've ridden it, download a recreation of the coaster for No Limits and you can see everything that it does.

The Lake is fast becoming one of my favorite parks. BD, the Skyride, the train around the lake, Ghost Hunt, Wildcat... there are some good rides and the setting is unbelievable. The park needs another steel coaster and another wood coaster wouldn't hurt but that's nitpicking- the place is a gem.

Yep, Gator. I didn't get a chance to do everything at The Lake. My buddy got sick and we were short on time as it was. Didn't even get a night ride on BD. :(

In my book, all LC needs coasterwise is an Anton... ;)

I was GOING to suggest Williams Grove's Wildcat....then I looked it up and saw THIS....hooray!
http://www.rcdb.com/id718.htm

Looks loike the Lake is gonna have to find their Anton on their own, LOL... :)

I personally prefer BD to both the Raven and Legend. But I rode it in almost perfect conditions, at night, in 79 degree weather. Like the other two, this thing heats up at night and it's a religious experience!
Wow... I guess that's one ride that already found a new home. Good news but also bad because it means things don't look good for Williams Grove and if the park reopens, it's less one coaster.

Too bad Lake Compounce didn't bid on Astroworld's Viper- that would have been a good fit. My dream is for The Lake to score a great steel coaster double play- a Jet Star and a spinning coaster.

After getting more "spins" on Waldy's little giant, I think that would be an AWESOME ride for LC to pick up. Esp. considering capacity issues, space issues, cost, ride experience...seems like a perfect fit Rob. You buyin'? ;)

In case you can't figure out why Gator was happy about the Wildcat. It's being moved here:

Anton Shuttle loop would go very nicely along the lake. :)

If you're talking about Spinning Dragons, I agree. I always wanted a Crazy Mouse but since those things are breeding faster than actual rodents, I'm thinking the park needs something a little more unique. Other ideas: a Gerstlauer spinning coaster or one of those Vekoma Motorbike deals. They look awesome!

And yeah, I knew gator was happy about the Wildcat being relocated. That's why I said it was both good and bad news...

Is this Adventure Park a new place? Or is it a place that has been around and is just now adding rides? I checked their website and it doesn't list any rides under the attractions option.

You have disturbed the forbidden temple, now-you-will-pay!!!

I've never heard of it, but that doesn't mean anything.

The Wildcat is a 1927 wooden coaster. The Adventure Park USA coaster is coming from somewhere else.

I based my "not a lot to do comment" based on the average enthusiast's taste, not my own. Now, being that I do like flats and water rides, we did ride the log flume, the Enterprise, the Rotor, Ghost Hunt, the Skyride (for some, it could be the scariest ride in the park), the streetcar and my friend rode the flyers. We skipped the white-water rapids ride (to stay dry on the ride home) and the waterpark (didn't have time). Otherwise if you're just looking to get some credits, it's a hit-and-run park for sure.

Wrong Wildcat. We're tlaking about the Schwartz Wildcat at Williams Grove.

But then again, if you're just looking to get credits, aren't just about all parks hit-and-run?

Anyway, I see what you're saying. Really it doesn't seem like the general culture here around c-buzz is towards attaining credits, but to each his own I suppose.

I live 10 mins from the Lake and have been going there since the 60s and I have seen many changes over the years. I'm surprised no one mentioned the new Screaming swing they put in for 2006 Thunder & Lightning. I was there on opening day last Saturday 13th and rode BD about 10 times without getting off the park was empty do to rain. I was at the construction of BD back in 2000 and the one reason I think it is a great ride is the way it was built. Any one can build a big coaster on a flat peice of land (ie:Shivering Timbers) but to build one thru trees and rocks on the side of a mountain with an awesome layout was genious. They had to drill through rock for most of the peirs. I also love the way it maintains its speed with only a 115ft drop. It is defenitely a ride you can keep riding over and over.

The Lake was going to put in a spinning coaster this season but SFNE beat them to it with Pandemonium so they got the Screaming Swing instead. They are putting in Antique cars for 2007 near Zoomerang. If you want to check out more facts on the lake check out www.Lakecompounce.org for opening day pics. *** Edited 5/17/2006 2:52:22 AM UTC by Ajrides***

If you're "credit hunting" at Lake Compounce, you're at the wrong park. Now if you're doing that at Wild Adventures or Cypress, that I can understand. But LC is a place where, if AT ALL possible, you need to relax and spend the entire day. Sure, there's no huge steel behemoth, but so what, there's LOTS to see and do...and the New England atmosphere is SWEET, like maple syrup... :)
Ok, nobody apparently has heard of Adventure Park, but that's ok. As for LC, where are the Antique Cars for next year coming from? Or will it be a brand new ride?

Most everyone I know who has had lackluster rides on Boulder Dash did not get nighttime rides. Although all woodies warm up as the day progresses Boulder Dash is truly an oddity in that the night rides and day rides are truly as different as....well, night and day! ;)
