Big Dipper to Cedar Point?

Bryan Edward's job is to release Cedar Point's news when they say it's time. Not before. So let's say Richard Munch jumped the gun with a note to channel 10- when face to face with PREMiERdrum, Bryan's only choice for now is to say *no*.

Hate to beat this to death, but I say it's certainly possible if not likely. As I stated on the recent Pointbuzz thread, they already own it, and they would get miles of good press from it. I for one will hold onto hope for this one.

As much as I like Big Dipper, the layout is pretty similar to Blue Streak. Not that the general public would notice or care.

I hope it is true, but I am not holding my breath.
Once Cedar Point paints it moly orange and yellow, the GP won't even know it's remotely similar. ;)

^Agreed.

How about this idea: line it up next to Blue Streak, race them, and change the names to Big Streak and Blue Dipper!

Blue Dipper sounds like a giant Port-a-Potty...

I can't speak for that press release, but that article from the Aurora Advocate from early April had Carole Sanderson of ACE sounding pretty excited/confident that ACE might be able to do something with the ride.

Perhaps it's an announcement more along those lines?

Or perhaps it's bull.

I would think that PremierDrum would have obtained more info at some point in the day ... since it sounds like their job ... I wish they'd post an update.

And yet it still sounds better then... oh I dunno...Flight Deck.

Oh God. Ok, here's my nightmare- Cedar Fair decides to move the Big Dipper to Michigan's Adventure, it's along the parking lot, painted grey, with cast off Gerstlauer trains, named Flight Deck with no additional themeing whatsoever, and the ACERS are tickled to death and pat themselves on the back because a classic coaster has been saved. I'd have to kill myself.
MI Adventures? That makes less sense then CP, if its along the parking lot it will be in the shadow of not one, but two wooden coasters, one of which is a steroid charged (better) version of the Big Dipper.

If I was the CF CEO and was determined to "save" BD (Im not sure I would be) it would be off to either Knotts or Worlds of Fun. Those are two parks that could defiantly use a classic out and back the whole family could ride.

Touchdown, are ya with me? It was my nightmare, see, like I was kidding. Oh, never mind.
If Cedar Point were going to get a coaster from GL my first guess would be Villain.
RCMAC, your idea is ingenious. I've been rooting for the removal of DT ever since my first trip to CP in 2001, and the Aquatic Stadium obviously needs to go (or actually be USED...) and I can't think of a better place for an out and back woodie at CP. Big Dipper in that location along with the removal of DT and the Stadium would be the conclusion of a total makeover to that section of the park, and would look fantasic. One can dream...

Not to be a dick but the idea for CP to dump DT and the stadium and build a beach-side woodie in a pseudo-boardwalk area has been something enthusiasts have talked about since Coasterbuzz was a wee glimmer in Putz's eye.

Hands off the shuttle to Alaska!

This has all of the makings of a very late April fool's day joke.
Even better idea still, send Big Dipper to another Cedar Fair park. Then at CP in place of DT and the stadium build a modern day Crystal Beach Cyclone.
^^^^ Was I giving him 100% credit for the idea? No. Do I realize that it's been discussed before? Yes. Not many people have given such a detailed description of what could be done with the area, which I liked.

Overall, I would love for it to happen, but just can't see Big Dipper retaining its ACE Coaster Classic status if it were moved to CP, looking at what they did with Blue Streak.

Actually I completely fabricated the rumor many years ago, mostly to prove the point that people will believe anything they read online.

And so it comes full circle.

That's fine, I was just pointing out that the idea isn't exactly "ingenious" or anything.
