I liked the rumored Cheetaka name better, but the ride does look fun.
I would expect the name Cheetah Hunt to trigger some controversy. People aer going to wonder why they are hunting cheetahs. Would not be surprised at all if it gets renamed.
Cheetah chase....Cheetah hunt....seems pretty close in names....the latter an order of magnitude lamer. I was hoping they'd stick to their swahili formula.
Wow, Cheetah Hunt, Cheetah Chase... The ride itself looks like a keeper though. Cheetaka seemed like it would fit right in with Kumba, Montu, Gwazi, and Sheikra.

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.
Interesting name choice, especially after Cheetaka had been thrown around so much beforehand.
*edit - beaten to the punch
Wow, guess the people in charge of coming up with clever ride names/themes left with the old ownership....
Nonetheless, I am *really* looking forward to this thing. Any word on the restraints (yes, I saw the train, but couldn't get a good look). Hoping for I-305's new restraints, Mavy-type would be a real bummer considering some of the twisted trackage.
You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)
Why would people care if they're chasing Cheetas? I don't see how that would be controversial.
"Hunt" could draw criticism from some people. Regardless, I think "Cheetah Chase" would be a better name just because of the alliteration.
There's already a petition to change the name to Cheetaka.
Coaster enthusiasts are a breed that I just don't understand. :)
I don't really mind the name, just strange to have 'Cheetah Hunt' and 'Cheetah Chase'. I can see it being changed....
Nothing to see here. Move along.
Wow. We get an amazing looking coaster, and someone actually has time to set up a petition. I like the name Cheetaka better, but I really don't care either way. The ride looks like it's themed amazingly, and the coaster looks fun.
Why does everyone assume they mean the act of hunting a cheetah? What I get out of it is the act of the animal itself going on the prowl. Nobody got upset with a roller coaster named Prowler.
Nor did they already have a ride name with the world 'Prowler' in it.

Yeah, I think the whole idea is that you're hunting WITH the Cheeta, not hunting one.

Yeah, but that still doesn't explain why people think it's about hunting a cheetah.
Also, Cedar Point has 2 rides with "streak" in the name. :)
Yeah, for some reason 'hunt' brings to my mind humans with guns or arrows, so my initial thought was hunting *for* cheetahs, as opposed to chasing after prey. It's one of those things where I'm so indifferent on the subject that any attempt to find logic behind it just sounds stupid. :)
