Best wooden helices...

Wild One and Shivering Timbers. Timbers is so famed for its air that it often gets lost that it has a really nice helix and some good trick track.
Ghostrider, and the slow, gradually gaining speed before making you fly out of your seat one of American Eagle at SFGAm
My new vote goes to Tsunami (Clementon). And while it isn't open yet, I can assure you that it will be one of the best helices ever! 78ยบ; and IIRC that's the same banking as Thunderhead. Check out these helix shots:

How can you assure anyone of that? IMHO, good helixes are about air and laterals (GR, Twister). Banking tends to kill any laterals and I don't see any sudden elevation changes that would give air.

American Eagle! It's just huge and pretty darn fun and fast at the end, and the drop-off from it is awesome. Even better when you're racing. Also, it looks great!
Well I love Shivering Timbers Helix if you ride it at night or in the rain. Otherwise it's kinda forceless.

Nobody mentioned Sky Princess' flat helix ending :)

I love Legends helix, Just when you think it's over it gets even more powerful and flattens out. I don't know why it hurts more with the PTC's Probably because only the upper body is getting the full force instead of full body. I did not get rib bruising like that with the G trains. Either way, I still love it.

Papa Beast helix has gotten so friggin rough I can't enjoy it anymore. I don't think it's the track either but the trains. These trains are wore out! The trains bounce, All through the midcourse and second part of the helix. Bouncing latterals are not good.

Chuck, who is one of the few who find SOB much smoother than Papa.

Well, since I got back from MI yesterday, I would have to say Shivering Timbers. But I love everything about Shivering Timbers ... especially from the front seat :) Maybe it is not the best, but it's my favorite.

LOL Chuck, I *did* mention Sky Princess, but that was early on Page 1, and it IS a *really* solid ride that doesn't get enough love.

TCKR, if Texas Giant has really *fallen off*, I didn't see ANY evidence. Can't say I really thought of that track section as a helix per se, but that coaster had NO problem finding its way into my Top 10 wood. Honestly, the first thing I said after riding was "Now THAT is what CP could've gotten instead of Mean Streak."....WOW! Sure hope the flooding damage was minimal....

I'll probably never get White Cyclone, but I got *plenty* of rides on Timber Terror during what stands as my best wooden event ever (for rides), Coaster Alley Convergence. Kevin C., if you're out there, thanks again, I was BLOWN away. "Not quite a helix" Pt. 2) ;), but the *four corners of death* in the middle of Tremors was another religious experience situation...total bliss. :)

Andy, I honestly LOVE heavily-banked helices, but I'm unusual in that I am a HUGE fan of high positive-G trackwork....hence my affection for the Giovanolas...;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

Yeah. I'm not a big fan of the Gio's helices. :P If I wanted that kind of feeling, I'd have Moosh sit on me.

I have to say American eagle, the Boss and The Legend. All very cool helices. Also I have to mention a steel as it has the best helices ever..GOLIATH..sorry I just had to say that. I felt like I weighed six hundred pounds on that thing. Very cool Experience. when you come off the ride you feel like your just gonna float away.

Andy, you need to go sit in the corner and think about what you have just said young man :)

Fate is the path of least resistance.

M:TR has a helix?

Oh, is that what that was?

La Ronde Monstre has an awesome flowing 2-track helix.

Love the helix of American Eagle. It starts off slow, but its big and its a nice ride as it picks up speed before it spits you out.
