Best wooden helices...

I was just thinking. It would be so cool if they put a tunnel on Cyclops starting about half way or a bit more up "the drop" and continuing at least 3/4 of the way around that helix so that the low section of it would be completely dark. I bet just that tunnel would move that coaster higher in my top ten.
Why are we talking about Raptor? This topic is devoted to wooden helices.
ohh ok i finally got it! Were talking about Helixes not helices. I would like to point out the edit button
No need for me to edit it seeing as how both words mean the same thing and can be written either way.
Sorry about mentioning Raptor, after reading the first reply late last night I thought we were talking about wood and steel.

I never knew helixes was actually a word. Guess you learn new things all the time.

Helices is perfectly acceptable - and grammatically correct.

may i point out in the TOS-

1. Spelling & Grammar usage:
There's a difference between a typo (which we all make) and chat shorthand ("r ne of u lamerz?") People like to read real, spelled out words, with capitalization and punctuation. You don't have to add pointless emphasis!!!!!!!???????!!!!!!!!!!!! THERE IS NO NEED TO SHOUT, we can hear you just fine. Please utilize your shift and caps lock key properly. Respect for the English language is important, and that means chat shorthand is not welcome.

6. Editing your post
If you find that once you have submitted your reply or message to the forums and you notice a mistake, or left something out, you can click on “edit” above your post to correct the error. Making another post with the correction leaves that topic thread disorganized.

I dont see anything in there about saying you "HAVE" to go back and edit your post if you make a mistake. Do you? Because I sure don't. I just wanted to get that accross

Dude, please. What does this have to do with anything in this thread? Getting dangerously close to troll status.

If you keep it up, I'll have no choice but to assume you're looking to cause trouble (as opposed to being new).

By all means join in the discussion, but also be relevant, comprehendable and at least semi-civil. :)

Having just got back from Parc asterix, my vote goes to Tonerre de Zeus - totally awesome helix, and high up too, and the drop out of the helix is insane.

Twister, Wild One, and the Beast are my favorite helices on a wooden track.

Nitro at SFGrAd is my favorite helice on a steel track.

'Tuan, nice addition there with Ghostrider....even THAT late in the ride, it sure is INTENSE.

Steel helices, Titan (and Big G) are more forceful than Nitro, and Ros is better than any of them, but the best of 'em all is Mindbender's second loop (the missing loop)...but that's a whole other thread...;)

You still have Zoidberg.... You ALL have Zoidberg! (V) (;,,;) (V)

The Beast has to be one of the best out there with the speed and headchopping effect. Great ending to a great coaster. I also like the Rose Bowl on SOB.

Even though it shook me up a bit, the Beast's helix at night is a great moment on the ride.

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

Though it's not my favorite (Twister has that honor), I think Texas Giant's double helix is worthy of an honorable mention. It might be a little worse for the wear these days, but I recall some blindingly fast and surprisingly smooth rides at the '99 Lone Star Coasterthon. Good times.

Best: Thunderbolt at Kennywood

Runner Up: Boss SFStL

I think twister at Knoebels. If u counsider the double inclined turn a helix.

Shivering Timbers helix was flying smooth and pulling some serious lateral Gs this last T-Fest.

Personally, I love Legend's Helices in the dark. Brutal, brutal stuff. Simply monstrous. I also absolutely love Timber Terror's final helix, which I got 17 rides on a month ago, Bill. ;)

Now... where was I? Oh yeah.

Fortunately, though, I will say that all of you have missed the helix "boat" as it were. The best helices (or set of them) live in a country called Japan, and they reside on one massive white beast called White Cyclone. Thank you, Intamin. :) *** Edited 7/4/2004 4:37:26 AM UTC by nasai***

The Flying Turns makes all the right people wet - Gonch

Boss @ SFSTL, very intense and I love how it just keeps getting tighter and tighter and the G's slowly pile on (around 1.5 positive G's on that helix BTW)
