Exciting news that this event is returning. I missed the last iteration of Beast Buzz by a couple months, and started coming to events shortly afterward.

Has anyone ever done the behind the scenes tour of The Beast? That seems like a lot of fun!
Actually, I think KI has offered these tours for pass holders on certain days of the week for several years. The Beast is probably the most "behind-the-scenes" toured coaster in the world. I'm surprised Cedar Fair hasn't claimed that as a world record and started including it in their marketing.
The only bummer is KI's lack of new additions. Not that it is a showstopper for having a great time.
I bet removing SOB cost a pretty penny. Next year, if the rumor hold true, should be awesome!

Do you happen to know when they do this during the summer? I have been getting the Platinum Pass since Cedar Fair Introduced it back in 2011 and didn't know about this. I feel silly!
Shawn, you might want to sign up for Kings Island emails or keep an eye out over on KI Central. They did Beast tours through most of August last year for a $25 donation to some cause. They also did tours at other events like Give Kids The World. Here's a video of what you can expect. Of course, why not just attend BeastBuzz this year?
Also, I'm still excited about seeing KI this year without any new major attractions. Cedar Fair has been focusing on beautifying the park lately. The asphalt is slowly disappearing in favor of pavers, the water park got a major overhaul, the decaying Racer is supposedly getting some love this year, and you can practically view the Son of Beast area as the early construction phase of a new big coaster.
^Thanks Jeph. Now that you mention it, I think I remember seeing those events last year, but couldn't make it because of work. I did, however sign up for Beast Buzz and will be attending this year so I'm looking forward to it rain or shine!

I think the Beast would be a good rain coaster. I've never ridden it in the rain, but one of the best laps of my life on a roller coaster was Raven in a pouring rain storm. That is also a terrain hugging, wooden coaster.
I actually don't like coasters in the rain. Getting pelted by drops of water at 40-60 mph is not my idea of a good time. Maybe I'm just nuts. There is a good possibility of that, actually. ;)

The beast used to be a great coaster in the rain, because the skid brakes were rendered ineffective. The newer magnetic brakes don't have that vulerability, though, so those days are gone.
As to the effect of the rain at those speeds, I enjoyed it, because to me, the Beast is more about doling out brute forces than it is about any showing of grace. Being pelted with rain only accentuated this. To quote J. Mascis, "Feel the pain."
A Dinosaur Jr. reference? CoasterBuzz never ceases to amaze me.
I like riding wood coasters on a wet track or in a (very) light rain, but not heavy stuff. Those rides on Dominator and I-305 in a pelting, cold rain last April were VERY painful.

Yeah, the ideal is to ride just after it's finished raining. Last year at HoliWood Nights, the rain was like daggers in my eyes (I actually rode with my hands over my face one time), but holy SHNAP did that Voyage fly! The second half was just insane, how deftly it glided through those banks. I think the Pilgrims got to Plymouth a few days early on that one.
Yes! Voyage on Friday was the best it's ever been. Saturday was a little intense, then the rain came. I rode maybe twice in the rain (Once in the front row), covering my eyes. After it stopped raining, though, it was insane. I had to take a break in between rides after that.

My best Beast ride was just after it rained, and before the skid breaks were removed, probably about 12 years ago. The track was oily, and instead of rolling, we seemed to slide through the course.
I also rode MF in the rain once too. It was the first time I had ever rode it in the front seat. The rain felt like needles all over my skin, and I had to protect my eyes with my hands. I was able to peek without letting the raindrops pelt me in the eyes at 92mph though. It felt like the tingle you get when your limb is numb. What an unusual sensation to add to an already sensational coaster.
I don't mind rain at parks as long as the park doesn't close every single ride because of it.

I rode Intimidator at Carowinds in a hail/rain mixture. Not a good idea. I had my eyes closed the whole ride, and it wasn't because I was scared.
anybody going to both this and Fall Affair at Holiday World? I'm hoping to make some friends at BeastBuzz, including hopefully finding a carpool for Holiday World so that I am not a stranger to you all by that point. Thank you for your patience- you really have no idea how much I appreciate it!! :) Jason.
Just a reminder... please register as soon as you can. The deadline is fast approaching! Early registration always helps the park plan better for the group size.

Jeff, I'm not finding a deadline posted anywhere. I'm on an iPad and after I put it the username and password the form isn't coming up.
I can't print from here anyway, so I have to go to a regular pc to register and print my ticket. I'd like to know by when, I don't want to miss the deadline.
Weird, I didn't post it. It should be about a week out. They need catering counts, as you would expect.
