craig the freak &punk
Just got to PKI on Sun. and got my first ride on SOB.I must agree on the air time there wasnt any with the exception of th first hill and that wasnt the kind of air time you find on even the racer. I however thought the helixs especialy the first one was awsome.I also thought that the loop was cool. Over all I thought it was an awsome ride
however it is not as wild as the beast it dosent have that kind of punch. I would like to say to anyone who reads this that despite what you hear
on this board or any of the other boards out there
SOB IS NOT a rough woody. There were possibly 2 spots on the whole ride where I got shook pretty good and I kept waiting for this thing to get real rough never happened. It is not anywhere near as rough as the Beast. I cnt wait to get back an ride again.
i can take bumps, vibrations, jerks, headbanging, and great forces(thats what they are made for). but on sob, it slammed into the side of turns(almost like mean streak, but worse), knocking my legs into the side of the unpadded car. it was horrible. i was surprised anyone here liked it.......67 of the 68 that rode from my church group didnt like it. the one that did rode in front. also, everytime i ride i ask the person in front of me if they have ever rode, and there was a group of 6 or7 about 15-16 years old. they all said and i quote....."this ride, yeah like 18 times, it really sucks, i dont know why we are here.......lets go to beast". they all hopped out of line. for anyone that is wondering, i rode my ONLY and probably only for a long time in the second seat to BACK.

Lots of people are dogging SOB because it lacks airtime. SOB (and Pappa Beast) are not about air, they are about speed, sustained speed that is, and sheer length of track. The Beast offers terrain as it's best asset, because the ride follows said terrain for such a long time, heading downhill all the way (first half of ride). The helix ending is simply the finest piece of work ever built, breakneck speed through the whole thing. Rough? Yes. Air? No. Now think about it, why would SOB NOT have similiar ride elements as its inspiration? The Beast is consistantly on top 10 lists the world over, despite its lack of airtime. Sonny may not have the terrain working the way daddy does, but speed, length and helixes, its got! I guess on paper, SOB LOOKS awesome, unfortunately, now that it is up and running, opinions seem to differ. If it is too rough for you, don't ride it. It's pretty obvious that punk hates SOB, that is his opinion. Others do enjoy it, go figure. I just hope they do not trim this monster to death before I can make it back to Ohio again, since it was closed on July 10, my ONLY chance to ride in 2000.
End of pointless rambling.

Gotta ride 'em all!
Punk-
I can feel your pain also. When i first rode SOB i had those same pains in my body on the Second from the back and most other places :( ... after riding SOB 13 some times i found that the SMOOTHEST seat is 2nd from the front. There is a really big difference in the way the ride rides. So i recomend when your at PKI to ride SOB on second from the front and you will see that it is less pain. I recomend that to everyone. Second from the FRONT= smooth ride. :)

DOWN WITH TRIM BRAKES!
My daughter and I attended the UlimateRollerCoaster rvent at PKI on June 3rd, the day after Coastermania (which we also attended).
Our group got to ride the Beast during ERT from 11:30pm to 12:30am. If there were any trims, it didn't feel like it. It was pitch dark except for a lone light in the woods. We got 7 rides in 1 hour. The Beast felt as if it wanted to jump the track and it seemed like a coaster out of control. The tunnels seemed like you would never get to the end because it was so dark.
Man was that awesome. I don't think my body could have physically taken 1 more ride. I was hanging on for dear life at the end of the last ride.
7 rides in 1 hour in the dark being thrashed around like you were in a washtub on the high seas. Got to vote for the Beast!
