Batman-The Dark Knight????!!!!!

I also remember watching all those old Batman shows.  Remember the different sound blurbs when someone got punched.  It's amazing that all Batman's crime fighting was done through fist fights.

Anyway, I happen to like the name as far as Batman names go.  I think it has a sort of ominous sound, and Batman has been known as "Dark Knight" for some time I think.  It's typical Six Flags, but I think it's better than Superman: Ultimate Flight.  Hey, it's the ride that counts right?

It wasnt until 1986 when frank miller actually put out a comic named the dark knight, until then it was like a nick name like the man of steel. Since 1986 there has been a few comics with the title Dark knight(not so nice superhero) and not batman(the nice guy). Here is a link about the writer of Dark Knight.

Can't Six Flags think of a name for their coasters that doesn't have superman or batman in it. The name sounds cool but I think they could find a better one.

Millennium Force......It has its ups and downs.
I rather liked the "Legends on the Dark Knight"? series that was done in the early 90's...the book was really gritty for a major publisher at that point in time. I think the series is still running but unfortunately it was really diluted from what it used to be last I checked. The early books were top notch both art and story-wise though.

As for the coaster: What'd you guys honestly expect from a Six Flags park? An original name? Hah :-) Just take your shiny new Beemer and be happy ok? :-)

I was watching my local news and they showed an animation and about 2 seconds of an on ride animation, will we ever get to see the animation full?
Hey, it could have been Batman: Ultimate Escape.  ;)

Thats the logical next step for a Batman ride...

I bet you will.

What experts could produce such fabulous animation?

Does the name really matter that much.  Sure, it might attract some people, but for us coaster fans, we like the ride.  I think this is better than Batgirl or the other ones, but I think they need to introduce another superhero into the names.

I think the name is great.  It is classic Six Flags.  They always theme Batman rides well too so it should be themed pretty well.  I'm excited for this ride and I can't wait to ride it.

I love the name.  I think its a great path for the Batman coasters to go down.  but speaking of SF's theming, I think that they need to branch out more.  I can understand that its sometimes hard to come up with original theming when you have a crud load of parks across the world.  however, there is something out there that SF hasn't explored yet: their AOL Time Warner options.  Warner Bros. have some really cool movies that would work well as coasters.  many people have mentioned this before, but I feel the need to bring it up again.  not only would it attract more people, but it becomes a fantastic way to promote current or future promotions of the company.  I'm not saying that they should make all SF parks a WB Movie World, but using some theming from WB wouldn't be such a bad idea.  as it stanks, I can't think of anything besides Looney Toons from WB that SF uses.

anyway, that's just my rant.  I won't be able to make it to SFNE this year, but I will be jelous.

Jeff, maybe I'm reading too much into your post, but it sounds like you are possibly hinting that the "one and only" Badnitrus did the animation...  For the record, I did not see it, but that would certainly be a big step for Badnitrus!

Dude, I saw the Badnitrus animation on RayW's site off a link on RRC at a friends house...OMFG!

It's like the best animation clip I've EVER seen!!  It was so professional, I couldn't believe it.

And this is coming from a Badnitrus naysayer from long ago.  My, did they ever get their act together, and in a big way!

Fantastic work Keith!

Batman is the Dark Knight. The Frank Miller Batman character is usually a little less accessible to the public than say, movie Batman. DK2K2(?) is his new one. It's my favorite interpretation of the character.

A Miller themed Bat-ride would be something out of my dreams. But, of course, this DK will be more WB themed, oh well.

I personally love the name and I love the theming on all the Batman themed coasters.  Every park should have a Batman coaster of some type.

As for the old Batman (aka beer gut Batman) theming, I think that Batman song in the line queues would get pretty annoying pretty quick.

Also someone was saying before that Superman is better because he has inherint powers.  Well I like what Green Bay Packer running back Amahn Green has to say on the subject (his nickname is Batman) - he believes that Batman is better because Batman is just an ordinary guy doing extraordinary things and that he(Green) is just an ordinary guy who desires to do extraordinary things.

That all said, good job Six Flags on the name of the coaster.  For those of you naysayers that are whining that there are too many Batman rides remember that only a small percentage of the public will go to more than one Six Flags park.  Six Flags parks are meant to cater to the local population and are not considered "destination" parks.  I think that the Batman ride at my home park (SFGAm) rocks (both ride and especially theming) and I think that other people with different home parks should be able to experience the wonderful theming of Batman.

If you have read Millers Dark Knight, the original, Batman kicked Superman's ass. True he used a Kryptonite arrow, but he is smarter and more resourceful. Also if you read the current Justice League book, Batman has extensive files and knowledge on Superman and how to beat him if Superman ever went rogue.

Also, the name for a ride does not mean anything to me, except when asking "where is the entrance to .....!! Why do they hide it?!?!" A good ride is a good ride. Just my opinion.

I agree with Kick the Sky,  I also like the Batman name and themeing, the batman themeing is one of my favorite themes that Six Flags does and I think all Six Flags parks should have at least one ride themed after Batman.

Six Flags is the only chain that can use the DC Superhero names, so why not take advantage of that and use it for a name people will remember? They whole reason they pay for the use of those names is so they can use them, so why waste money? You gotta think what brings in more money. Personally, I like the Batman theme as well, you'll only find it at Six Flags parks.
Heh, I guess my instincts weren't too far off! :)
