A message like that was pretty much the only confirmation you got last year for Gatekeeper media day too. I don't recall any emails or communication of any kind after signing up last year for Gatekeeper and we had no problem checking in on media day.
That's correct, and I remember last year at C.P. being a little nervous at 4 am as to whether I was really "in" or not. But there was no problem, registration was easy. They are serious about the membership card thing, don't expect to sneak in.
The members here very kindly handled questions from other members about attire, conduct, etc, so feel free to ask if you don't know.
AND let's just get this one out of the way now.
Answer: No, the lines for the other rides will not be long, because the park will not be open. Expect Banshee to be available to riders off and on during the media event- there may be opportunity for tons of rides, but there will be some wait around time, too. The event is for the media, not for enthusiasts, and we should keep that in mind at all times.
Last year's event at C.P. was awesome, and the park treated attendees to a few extras. We should not go to K.I. expecting the same, however, as they will surely have developed their own schedule and agenda. The general rule of thumb is to look nice, be nice, relax, and enjoy this great opportunity.
I can't wait.

To clarify, there's no guarantee Any other rides will even be open. A couple rides opened later in the day at Cedar Point. But, don't expect everything to be open.

I'm there more for the photos than the rides.
That's what she said?

Actually, don't expect anything to be open. That's what I meant.

I can't speak for the park. But, if it's the same as Cedar Point last year, people will be able to check in all day. However, if you want to be one of the first ones in, registration will begin at 4:30. You will likely be able to come and go throughout the day like we did at Cedar Point last year.

Except for kpjb, he has to get there at 4:30 and stay all day.

Yeah I'd say having other rides open is a complete toss up. I could see them opening The Bat since it is nearby and had a full re-theme, but I don't think I would expect more than that.
I agree with RCMAC, it will likely be different than the media events last year at Cedar Point.
First and foremost, thank you for your interest in Kings Island and the new Banshee roller coaster. It's going to be an incredible ride!
We will email everyone that RSVP'd for Media Day in early April with all the necessary event details.
The park will open for the 2014 season the day after Media Day on Friday, April 18. Park hours will be Noon to 10pm on Opening Day.
I was unaware that the park opens on Friday and not Saturday. That may change my plans a bit...
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I was waiting to hear when opening day would be too, now that its the next day Im definatly in. Cant wait.

A friend of mine hinted in the fall that his club might be going to the Banshee event, and invited me again. But, I have not joined a club yet. His group went to the Gatekeeper Media day, and totally lucked out on the weather.
Though I was at a camp ground around the same time last April, and it was snowing, and very cold. So, I'm not ready to make an early commitment to Banshee yet, and will most likely hold off my visit until warmer weather comes. Though I am going to attempt to go while school is still in session, so I don't meet up with that Cedar Point nightmare again.
I didn't do it! I swear!!
