Automated Spiel on Timbers

WOW. A Timbers crewmember just notified me that we got an automated spiel on Timbers today. Apparently, it can't be turned off without the mic turning off. Okay so there goes the whole atmosphere on Timbers I love...people announcing my lap counts, the corny jokes, the interaction with guests. What's next...trims?

I hate those recordings. They are bad enough when your standing in line. I could just imangine how bad they are for the workers. Don't say the "T" word too loud.

Yeah, we have those at a lot of the rides at SFOG, but I just turn them off since no one listens to them anyway. Auto spiels suck.

I love Millennium Force's though.

Ours is in a locked box, and if the crew tampers with it they're suspended for 3 days. It's not even timed right, it just plays over and over with that corny "shooting out of a waterslide" crap inbetween. Heading out to buy some earplugs...

We've got switches so we can play each spiel once or on a loop. I keep them in the off position although, technically, I'm supposed to keep them running. They annoy the guests as much as the crew IMO.

Does the spielmeister sound like the MovieFone guy's constipated second cousin?

That's the treat in store for you on VF's WT this year.

Well, I do remember reading that CF does not plan on trimming the Timbers, but I also think that CF is going a little far with all of this crazy stuff!
Ugh! That sucks!!!!

I was at SFOG and there was some really crappy music playing.in the georgia Scorcher(?) cue. Anyway, we convinced the ride op to tape the microphone on.. therefore eliminating the stupid music.

After going to MiA last month with Kara. KicksTheSky and I began to notice the changes that Cedar Fair is making to the park. It's not up to Cedar Fair's standards yet. All they have now is the signs to tell you what you can't do on the rides, overdone the whole Snoopy thing, and added an auto-spiel to Shivering Timbers.

What they still need to do to in order bring is up to Cedar Fair's standards are to; Trim Zach's Zoomer, ST, Wolverine Wildcat, put individual lap bars on ZZ, put OTSR's on Lil' Dipper, put another seatbelt on the Scrambler, tone down the Sea Dragon, put an autospeil on CS, ZZ, WW, Mad Mouse, Lil Dipper, finish the fencing on every pathway, disallow adults on the Frog Hopper, put weld marks on Mad Mouse, add more Snoopy stuff, add a "Camp Shoot Me", and slap down another Morgan hyper clone.

Whew... hope I didn't leave anything out... but yeah add this and you have a park worth while of the Cedar Fair stamp of approval.

Now, even *I* think adding the autospiel to Timbers is overkill!! The ride ops are part of the whole Timbers experience!

As much as I like some of the improvements CF has made to MiA, there are going to be a lot that are going to change the atmosphere of the park.

An automated spiel????

In a Cedar Fair park??? Granted, Millennium Force and Wicked Twister have automated spiels, but for the most part Cedar Point itself is known for its LIVE SPIELS. I don't get it.

Yea, the Raptor crew is famous for it ... and I love it when the Corkscrew guys claimed they were the best blue-painted coaster in the park ... or the Blue Streak guy telling you about the not 1, not 2, not even 6, but NO inversions on Blue Streak ...

Poor Timbers. We're loosing it. I'm not saying Cedar Fair is a BAD thing, but if they do much more to Timbers, then maybe Six Flags SHOULD have purchased us. Oh wait, we don't want Timbers to be the "Michigan Cyclone."

Maybe if a bunch of us wrote, called, talked, etc. to Camille Jourden-Mark, they might push the people who put it there to get rid of it. I'll e-mail them now......

This is just a nuisance. As long as the Timbers stays untrimmed, I'll be happy! :)

well I believe I recall Kara asking "where's all the CF money MiA was s'posed to get?".....here ya go Kara, a shiny new spiel.....j/k, had to do it.....;)
GARG!!!! Im riding that next week. I hate those things so much. They're so corny and unnesicarry. Why can't the ride-ops just do it? Those things can be funny though. In the station for SOB, the girl in the control room thing hit the automated spiel twice so you couldn't understand what they where even saying. Stupid people...stupid spiels...
I was going to head out tonight. I didn't. I will be there first thing in the morning before they add the trims.

Oh, cripes! it's just an automated spiel! Who says its permanent anyways? If it's the worst thing you experience all day, be thankful!
