Arrow Loopers?

a little off the subject, I noticed on Arrow's site under products that there is no listing for Hyper Coasters or Shoot the Chutes. Does Arrow still make them?

I hate arrow loopers. The only good one I've been on is X. I wont even ride the demon at sg greatamer anymore. I always get a headache when I ride that.
the loopers you hate were built in the early 90's or late 80's, and designed mostly by hand, and you're comparing them to digitally-designed coasters built in the late 90's or 00's. it's not arrow's fault they built a bunch of steelies just before the technologoy made the ultra smoothies possible.

Actually, Vortex at PKI (1987) was built using computers, the loopers designed by hand were actually calculated better than those. Of course, Tenn. Tonado ws built using a new group of software and had better fabricating techniques.
From Arrow:

Arrow's track and structure has experienced significant improvements over the last five years. With the use of computers and sophisticated analysis programs, Arrow's structural engineers continue to improve the smootness of Arrow's rides. Through the use of an Arrow developed software program called CVA (Coaster Vector Analysis), engineer's are able to optimize track design for smooth element transitions.

In addition to track design improvements, Arrow has made significant changes to the manufacturing process of steel track and structure. Arrow has developed a process to accurately transfer precise engineering data from the design and concept to the finished product. This data can then be measured on the steel track ensuring that each track section is built to Arrow's exacting standards. This high level of precision and quality control ensures that each piece of track will be in alignment during the erection phase of construction.

In addition to improvements in track design and construction, the design and construction of Arrow's structure has seen dramatic improvements. Arrow uses the latest in CAD and analysis software in the design of strustural steel components. All new Arrow rides feature bolt up track and structure. Bolt-up track and structure ensures that all track and structure components can be seamlessly assembled during the construction process. Bolt-up track and structure reduces installation costs, and improves accuracy and alignment.

X is CERTAINLY not an arrow looper. Arrow loopers referring to megaloopers like Viper, GASM, and Shockwave.

I would like to second the general good buzz going on in this thread about Tennessee Tornado! This thing was running as well last fall as the year it was built! My brother lives in Knoxville so I get there once a year! It seems to be aging well! I would encourage anybody that is into loopers and cool settings to check this out! It is off the beaten path, but worth it! There has never been more than a 2 train line in the 5-6 times I have gone!

P.S. It is a little short, but I say that about all coasters except Mean Streak and Psyclone (I won't ride Rattler for a couple weeks...from what I've heard...I may be adding that to this small list)!

It's refreshing to here such great thing about TT and Arrow.

The only megalooper I've been on is GASM at SFGADV. Never been on Shockwave or Viper(even though Viper is in my track record, lol, I can't figure out how to erase that from my profile).

I wonder if ArrowBAtic will ever be made?

QAF's season finally is this coming Sunday. What's going to happen to Ted and Emmit?

how does arrow's bolt together track work? wouldnt it be less smooth since every time the train rolls over a connection from one track to the next you would feel it (sort of like traveling coasters at carnivals)?

With the "Coaster Wars" going on, I can see sit-down loopers making a comeback, even if it is a small one. Parks like Six Flags Magic Mountain and Cedar Point can only go so high and so fast before they're out of money and on the street corner. What other records are there to break then? Well, with the addition of Colossus at Thorpe Park inversions seem like the way to go.

However, like ThemeDesigner said, this may not be enough of a gimmick for the big parks. This can be solved with the creation of new elements; new ways to turn people up-side-down. Most likely, projects like these would, in fact, go to the European companies. It is possible, though, that parks will realize they can get roughly the same product for a cheaper price tage from S&S Arrow.

Intelligence is a God given gift: Know how to use it.CoasterKrazy I agree with you. I think there is lots of room in the market place for a new modern version of the loopers. it's coming up on 30 years since Corkscrew at Knott's. It's time to recyle the idea. It's come full circle.

With TH being constructed @ DW more peeps will be exposed to TT.

I for one (at 6'3") hardly feel Arrow coasters are comfortable (megaloopers or any other variety). I could make an exception for suspendeds, and I've never been on X. That being said, I still DIG the vast majority of Arrow products, and hope they get some high profile contracts.......
That would be great if they did, ophthodoc. I would love to see Arrow back in the limelight. With the several new concepts they have, plus Thrus Air technology, there is a lot of potential. It all depends on whether or not parks recognize that potential.

I'd also love to see Arrow get back in the game. I've also been dying (as I'm sure a lot of us have), to see an ArrowBATic installed at a park somewhere. I actually find it a bit funny that the 4D saw the light of day first (X) before the ArrowBATic considering how complicated the 4D is compared to the ArrowBATic. If you ask me, the ArrowBATic looks like it'll be a lot of fun once some park decides to have one installed. As for the loopers, I've never had a problem with them; and I'd love to see a couple more pop up since to me, they're fun and intense rides.

I have wondered though, why hasn't Arrow designed trains that are a bit more open? Or have I just not seen them yet?

It's a matter of a park to want to spend the extra cash on a new train. DF @ BGW had a newer more open train and so does canyon Blaster @ Circus Circus.
