Are you from Ohio?

I grew up in Lancaster!
Struthers Ohio here. Grew up in Liberty Township (just north of Youngstown Ohio) and work in Boardman Ohio. But I play in Sanduskcy Ohio.

I sure do miss the Idora Wiildcat & Jackrabbit.

I live between Akron and Canton and about 3/4 of those are true. That's hilarious. Amazing how so many of those really personally apply to me... hour bus ride one way, pop, ending sentences with prepositions, school closed for heat, lol.
I'm a transplanted Buckeye from Stow Ohio now living in Missouri. CP, GL, KI every summer growing up... ahhaaww good good memories.
Anybody remember a kiddieland in Akron with a wooden kiddie coaster?

I've only lived in Columbus for the past 3 years. I originally grew up in New Jersey but I still managed to visit Cedar Point nearly every year!
I concur with Jeff's friend in Miami. Southeastern Florida is one of the few untapped metropolitan areas in the country to not have a large park nearby. It really is amazing. There have been some meager efforts to try but the Dania Beach Hurricane is about it for us.

It is a crying shame.

I think the logic is: Who needs roller coasters when you've got the freaking ocean, tropical temps, national parks, unbelievable natural beauty, etc. etc.

How true that those fun facts about Ohio are so true. I especially like the ones about the four seasons and the A/C joke. Those Cincinnati fun facts are so true too! Got a laugh out of the mixed marriage and Cleveland facts.

I'm from Ohio, and I'm not embarased by that. I would rather go to an amusement park than Martha's Vineyard or some place like that.

There's no reason to be embarrassed about living in Ohio. It's the 7th most populated state so a lot of us do! The only people who make snide remarks about Ohio are snooty New Yorkers who have never been west of Newark or east of L.A. on the ground.

hahahaha! so true.

You also know that WGAR is the number-one rated country station in the nation, but would be hard pressed to name a friend of family member who actually listens to it if asked.

I'm from the Nasty Nati as I call it and everything you said is true...

I'm in Alabama now, but last summer I came home and grabbed about 50 metts from the Findlay Street Market and brought them back here for a cookout and people went crazy...

Three-ways are cool but a 4 way is even better and I'm talking about Goldstar Chilli

and I MISS LAROSA'S PIZZA

Go Bucks, at least I'm a softmore there.

I'd make a joke here, but it would be redundant.

Someone mentions a three-way, and you think of chili instead of sex.

Here's a question for the Southern Ohioans out there. On my way to SRM, I'll be on I-75 from Toledo through Cincinnati. Where's the most convenient place to nip off the highway for a good four-way? (I too prefer the four-way, especially when my wife is not along to complain about the onions.) A Skyline outlet would be fine, but a lesser-known place would be even better, since I've done the Skyline thing already.

In exchange, I will offer a tip for anyone headed to Kennywood. Be sure to go to Primanti's in Pittsburgh. There's one in Oakland near Pitt and CMU, but the one in the Strip District is better. Get a steak, egg, and cheese; the sandwich comes with slaw and fries as integral ingrediants. Do not ask for them on the side, or you will be exposed as an outsider from 'dahn the Ahia'. Don't be shy with the hot sauce. Ask for an Iron City ('an Ahrn'). It's not good beer, but you don't want to be weighed down when eating a sandwich at Primanti's.

Ann Arbor has plenty of good food, but alas no interesting food that is native. We've got a hot dog place that Chicagoans will gladly patronize, a deli that the New Yorkers really like, and a Sushi joint that left-coasters go back to, but nothing that's just ours. Boring.

Primanti brothers. That is THE reason I took every recruiting trip I could to the Pitt. area. Skyline chili. Gee, you guys are making me hungry.

You know you are from Ohio if you know what a Woolybear is.

Well technically speaking I live in Michigan but only 5 miles from Ohio. I am more Ohioan then Michigander. I work in Ohio, my Girlfreind is in Ohio, I shop in Ohio, My TV stations are all Toledo, heck I am in Ohio right now.

That being said you now your from Michigan if you think of the Detroint Tigers when you buy an Alkaline Battery ;)

You are also from Michigan or Ohio if you know what real ginger ale is IE Vernors.

I guess I am from Ohio, I just sleep in Michigan ;)

Of course, here in Columbus we're right at the crossroads where I can tell which side of town somebody is from as soon as he opens his mouth. The accent seems to be split right along OH-3...

From Northwest of OH-3, but now living on the wrong side of IR-71...

I've lived in Ohio my whole life, too, and I can say that it is the best place to live in the country. It's central to everything in the entire country. I live in Green (about halfway between Akron and Canton), and I was born in East Liverpool, Ohio.

A few selected comments to various posts here:

1.) Den said: "... Who needs roller coasters when you've got the freaking ocean, tropical temps, national parks, unbelievable natural beauty, etc. etc." Answer: I DO, Dammit! Spending a whole day lying in a huge public ashtray and baking in the sun is hardly my idea of a good time.

2.) I never say "pop".

3.) a.) Columbus is a great city if you like to shop for clothes. b.) I really don't enjoy doing that.

4.) Of all the vacations I've taken in my life (and yes, a single day at Cedar Point was often my annual vacation when I was growing up), I have the best memories of going to Cedar Point with my parents.

Interesting topic -

I have always said teh south does not begin at the Mason-Dixon line but rather I-70. Ohio, Indiana, Illionois, it all seams to be the "accent line"

Of course my definition of southern keeps getting farther and farther north. Toledo is now southern in my book, it now has Waffle House's ;)

Actually, Waffle House's are everywhere....to be really southern, you must have, or had, at least one Stuckeys. Mmmmmm........ pecan log. (lol)

I'm in Cleveland. Lived here all my life.

Funny how you talk about the accents. All I have to do is spend a day at CP or SFWoA and then spend a day at PKI. Quite interesting.

Ophthodoc, I can relate. CP was always our family trip every year with a ride down to Kings Island every couple of years.
