Anyone have an Idea where they are goi9ng next year?

2011 is winding down. Many Parks are now closed for the season. Soon the Holidays will be upon us, and finally the New Year.

Has anyone decided what park(s) they will visit in 2012. I had a couple of ideas myself, but there's an unusual event happening in the western US this spring, so I decised to attend it (and get in a Park while I'm at it.) :)

In addition to Roller Coasters one of my interests is Astronomy. On Sunday, May 20, 2012 an Annular Solar Eclipse will occur in the western US. The path of this Eclipse's Centerline will pass over Northern California just south of the California-Oregon Border. Heading in a Southeast Trajectory, it will pass near Reno, Nevada, St. George, Utah, Alberquerque, New Mexico and the path will end just east of Lubbock, Texas. The Moon's Shadow leaves the earth here, so those east of Lubbock will miss this Eclipse (Unless they travel). ;)

As for Me I will fly to Alberquerque on May 18, I will visit Cliff's Amusement Park on the 19th, On the next day I'll do a little sightseeing before setting up my scope and camera at my selected observing site and observe the Eclipse. Then on the 21st I'll return home. Short, but sweet. :)

I'm headed to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Alton Towers, SFMM, SFStL, WOF, SFOT, SFFT, Knotts, Silverwood, Lagoon, Wisconsin Dells, Mount Olympus.. and...what?..no Mom!! Five more minutes! Pleeeeaaaase!!! I'm not ready to wake up yet!!!

The usual parks for me, 12 - 15 trips each to Dorney and Great Adventure and I'm hoping to get to Morey's since I haven't been there since 2009 and the Ocean City, NJ parks I get to every year. I also want to get to Hershey next year for Skyrush and because 2011 was the first year since 2003 I didn't go to Hershey at least once. Unlikely, but I hope to get to Knoebel's for Black Diamond and maybe Flying Turns will be open then.

Hoping to: Dollywood
Definitely will do: Cedar Point, Kings Island, SFGAm

I call Cedar Point my home park even though I live in the Chicago Suburbs.

I'm taking it easy next year and in preparation for Germany in 2013.
Likely to definite:
Canada's Wonderland
Busch Gardens Williamsburg
Hershey
HoliWood Nights
PPP

And then hoping to hit up several Jimmy Buffett shows on the summer tour and maybe a Van Halen show. :)

I witnessed 'the pinky swear"....and I sure would like to make that trip!

2012? Probably grad scool, so limited travel. HWN and PPP are non-optional events. I'd like to make the Morey's event, and catch Skyrush and the open Flying Turns. ;)

It's funny how we can plan for next season so early in the off-season...

I know for sure that I am taking my Mother to TN early next Spring. We will be going to The Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville, a few days at Dollywood (new coaster!), a day in Gatlinburg, a day at Smokey Mountains National Park, a day or so to shop and see the sites (tourist traps) in Pigeon Forge, and if it is open, possibly a day at Dolly's waterpark. Also if it is open, a short stop at Beech Bend on the way.

(Does anyone know how early in the season Beech Bend opens? I can find that info online.)

Other than that, I haven't figured out the rest. I would love to get to Holiday World. Still haven't been, and it is only a 5 hour drive for me. I am going to try my hardest not to go to Kings Island next year. I go there way to much and nowhere else.

My usual trips to Cedar Point and Kings Island.
Hopefully the CoasterBuzz event at Dollywood, depending on the date and my work schedule.
A trip to Washington DC with a side trip to Six Flags America, which will be my first ever visit to a Six Flags park.

Next year will probably be filled with the Disney, Universal, and SeaWorld again. Hopefully I can hit Carowinds and/or SFOG on my way back down to Florida. Then hopefully I'll finally add BGT to my "visited" list, as well as Legoland.

I'm planning on being poor next year. I've always wanted to do it, and now's my chance. So trips to parks will be ultra-limited in 2012.

Other than PPP and Holiwood Nights, I have no idea. Dollywood is a definite.

Hopefully Cedar Point and King's Island at some point. I have been going to both parks every year since 1997 or so since they are two of my closest "home" parks. 2011 was the first time I missed both of them. This is the slowest year I have ever had.

Actually, the only parks I have been to this year is Holiday World and Knobels. Dollywood still may be doable, like around my birthday next month. We'll see.

My off-season post last year about this year turned out to be startlingly accurate. I went to SFGAm for a different reason, but did get there, as well as the New England parks (despite Hurricane Irene's best efforts).

I really have no idea about 2012 except HWN, PPP, and Cedar Point. I renewed my Six Flags pass with no specific plans to visit any parks -- it was only $65, and with Phunfest being a regular thing for me now, Great Adventure the night before might be too.

My friends and I have been talking about Dollywood, but I'm not sure that idea will get off the ground. If Indiana Beach is open (and the coasters are being maintained), I'd like to tack that on to HWN weekend since I've only been there once and have yet to ride Lost Coaster.

Winter coasters for me are ski slopes given my northeast location. Next Summer depends on my occupation. If I work at Waldameer again, the plan calls for Canada's Wonderland, Hersheypark, Knoebel's, Darien Lake, Martin's Fantasy Island, and Cedar Point. However, if I work at Cedar Point (granted im offered a good position on a major coaster crew), it looks like Kings Island, Michagan's Adventure, and Holiday World.

Either way, see you at Waldameer or The Point.

My early season plans are to hit Dollywood, SFoG, KD, and BGW close to their opening weekends, especially since there will be a new credit at each (I still didn't get I305 this year).

My 'big' plan right now is to do an early part of the year SoCal trip, I'm still planning that.

I want to hit KI & CP one weekend. Maybe for HWN weekend if they get Timberliners running. Add Beech Bend to that if it happens.

I'd really like to go to Canada for a weekend, and hit Wonderland whilst there (and maybe some parks on this side of the border like Darien and Martin's).

Otherwise, it's plenty of trips to Carowinds, and maybe a return to Myrtle Beach for some Swamp Fox.

I had a semi-light year this year due to the unemployed status during the summer, but I still hit up Disney World, SFoT, and a bunch of Carowinds visits, as well as some fairs, and I took the time to explore my 'new' city and hit up a bunch of concerts. Including driving ALLLLLLLL... the way to NYC for a concert, going to said concert, hanging out with friends till 1am, then driving ALLLLLLL... the way back to NC in less than 36 hours.

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

Hershey and Knoebels in the summer...

Hosting a Leviathan tour hopefully. ;) Attending some to all surrounding parks as part of this tour ie. Darien, Martins, Marineland, and hopefully Waldameer.

Kennywood + Steelers game in Sept.

Light year due to baby about to be born in about a day or so.

I must be a bad enthusiast. I haven't really put any thought into this. CP and KI are the definite ones just like every year. I'd like to make it to Dollywood, Beech Bend, HW, and Canada's Wonderland, but I don't know if any of them will come to be. CW is probably the least likely just because I'm too lazy to get a passport.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you

I'm going to spend all the money I have, buy a season pass to Canada's Wonderland, and ride Leviathan all summer. lol!

Ask not what you can do for a coaster, but what a coaster can do for you.
