any coaster that you're scared to put your hands up on?

Top Thrill Dragster. For the launch, It would be nice to avoid the "Hands Down, Hands Down, Hands Down..."

Also, the headchoper on the way down is crazy. I seriously ducked the firt time I rode.

A few that come to mind right away...while not full of a lot of head/hand choppers but are intense ones:

Phantom's Revenge: the first time you go under Thunderbolt. This has to be the biggest one of them all! People don't just pull their hands down, they litterally "dunk their heads" when going under that!

Gemini. The 5th hill right before the final turnaround. They have that support so close to the part right before you go down.

FoF: It's not bad in the dark, but when they put the lights on. How do they fit those trains through there, let alone the people on them :)

Just some of the quick ones that come to mind.

My first trip on MF, first drop. At the top, my hands were up. About half way down, I reconsidered. But, like LG, I often find myself not bothering, and I do attribute it to old age and an increasing crotchety factor.

Wood anything else is an imitation

I used to be scared to raise my hands on Space Mountain at WDW. Until I saw someone else make it the whole ride, I was convinced that you could hit those supports that go right by your head. Hoever, you can easily touch the tunnels before the lift and during re-entry without even trying.

Oh, and be careful of the flags on the Dania Beach Hurricane!

I still owe Nasai $5 for failing to keep my hands up on my first ride on Coaster at Playland. But it's the fact that I couldn't even keep them up until the dreaded 5th(?) drop, that makes me such a wimp. Truth be told, I couldn't even keep them up during the 1st drop!

And I second TTD. While I learned to keep my hands up all the way through Millie on my second ride, I tried to do it on Draggie but it's too friggin' silly!

Speaking of the point, Maggie has a very scary section when your heading out and you go into the butterfly. If your sitting on the right, I swear that support is all but 2 feet from the track, and everyone on that side of the train puts their hands down.:)

Robo, yes you do! You have my address... ;)

Mantis Man, yes Coaster (as evidenced by Robocoaster) is a tough one, it can be done. Granted, all coasters can be done. I am still afraid to put my hands up on Coaster, but moreso because it hurts your stomach if you do. The other thing is my dare is only for the back seat, first time. It can be done easily in the front.

My point about White Cyclone is that in any seat, you will hit your hands on various sections, because they take their hand choppers seriously in Japan. ;)

Viper at SFGAm. I find it amazing that ride hasn't tossed someone. Scares the hell out of me everytime, and my hands never leave the assist bar.

Now that you mention it, I held on firmly for my one and only ride--a night ride--on Viper. Man that was fun!

I can hold my hands up on any and every ride. I know that my hands won't hit anything becuz the parks are safer than that. I do admit it is hard to keep ur hands up on Top Thrill Dragsta i still do it though. Its also hard on The Georgia Cyclone's first drop cuz its like a side twist turn!

Some coasters it's about pain, you have to hold on. First time I rode Thunderbolt @ KW after the lift hill you can get slammed in the side if your not holding on.

Old Age?

Perhaps. I don't have the stamina you young whippersnappers do.

The only reason I ever choose not to ride hands up is if I know that the coaster has sudden, violent transitions. Then I worry about hitting my hands on the inside of the train. Joker's Jinx is an example of this.

I want to live where it's all the same. I want to live where it's all just like today. I want to live where it's always Saturday.

Anything you've ridden that you couldn't bring yourself to put your hands up?

Nope.

Although I find that more and more, I'm less likely to ride with my hands up as a personal decision. Weird.

I noticed that about myself as welll. It was actually beginning to get a bit old. I'll find my hands in the air at the top of a hill, or the first drop, but other than that, rarely ever. Unless it's a woodie, or a hyper, they'll be down. I never understood why people try to raise their hands on say, a B&M looper, with those massive OTSR's...

Never Has Gravity Been So Uplifting.

The Pheonix. Combined with Buzzbars and the stand-up air it just doesn't feel safe to put my hands up.
I'm not scared to do so on any coaster, even for my first ride on a particular one (including Top Thrill Dragster, which I didn't have any problems with doing so on). After that first ride, however, I might choose to do so for comfort or just having an enjoyable ride with nothing to prove. It's all fun, as long as you're riding!
I actually know (I didn't directly witness it, but saw the aftermath) of a bad incident concerning an arm and a support on the ride. The day before, they were making fun of me for not putting my hands up in the air on said ride at the ride photo spot. Let's just say that tall people should heed warning about keeping your arms inside the car. I wish I could be more explicit about which coaster, but there are potential legal matters. And no, it didn't happen at SFA.

I'd say personally that the one coaster that threw me for a loop as far as holding up hands was Phantom's Revenge at Kennywood. I tried riding like I do on S:ROS at SFA, but after the turn back towards the station, I found it's not smart to have your hands up in the air, because it gets way too violent.

TTD, I dont want my arms to get ripped off
