Announcments that were a big let down

"Have you been to PKD? ever watched it go up the hill? i went on it 10 times last season and spent alot of time watching it while i was in line. in slows down alot after the brakes on the hill. did 2hostyl mention that the brakes also activate everytime that the train goes up? you can hear them slow the train down, and then release. you can also get the video from starcoasters.com and watch it. the train slows down alot before the top. "

How about we all just let 2Hostyl speak for himself, mm'kay?

Anyway, if what you are saying is true (which I whole-hartedly contend it is NOT) then why would they have the brakes on during a day when they had no less than THREE rollbacks with members of the GP aboard (self included) and a 2hr + line? Wouldnt it make more sense to just let the train roll on through without any slowing to ensure against a rollback?

Come opening day, I invite you to pay close attention to the operation of the brakes. At first, I too thought like you, that the brakes slowed it down. Then I asked myself the above questions and figured you'd have to be an idiot to run your coaster like that. After that, I watched *VERY* closely and noticed that right before the green light, the brakes open and right after the train passes them the brakes close. Trust me, as one of the *very few* people who has actually felt those brakes applied on my backwards trip, there is no way that they touch the train on a "normal" ascent.

If you still wish to not believe me, see for yourself come opening day. Hell, I'll watch it with you...I'll be there...

Let's define disappointment here:

BGT getting Rhino Rally instead of adding a hyper, or for that matter, any other coaster.

WHAT A WASTE!

As far as PKD goes, they are fairly landlocked, unless they remove one of their existing coasters (may I suggest Shockwave?). So I think Richochet is a good addition based on land ability.

My nominee for biggest dissapointment is also Wicked Twister at CP. I originally defended their decision to build the ride, and now I can't believe the decision. A shuttle coaster is a very bad idea at one of the most crowded parks I've ever been to. I'm sure it'll still be a great ride though.

The word "definitely" is definitely the most misspelled word on the buzz.

Never having seen one of these air-launched THRILL-machines operating yet (but I swear to Stan C. I'll get one this year), I'd have to say the REAL 2hostyl has the right idea. These brakes on H:XLC should close immediately after the train passes, to prevent TOO big of a "let-down" in case the train doesn't have enough speed to crest the hill...traveling BACKWARDS down that hill is probably NOT what S&S had in mind...

The whole CP/WT thing, I've said my piece/peace...

The only TRULY disappointing announcements I hear are those where coasters are lost or mangled in the interest of reducing wear-and-tear (Jeff's right that trims don't NECESSARILY ruin a ride, but I really think they're WAY overused to reduce maintenance needs)...just my opinion...

Not being able to build the 700ft Arrow Fishook

A CCI 200ft out and back would rock

At least they didn't drop the idea completly!

A Vekoma SLC would do Nebraska wonders! :-)

The trains of the ride are enclosed you really wouldn't hear screaming riders. And it would not be a loud as as the S&S tower.
