Aesthetically striking Coaster(s)

I like the setting for JRS at SFOT, especially on my first trip of every season, nothing beats pulling up to the park after the offseason and seaing such a nice looking coaster by the lake
How about Rebel Yell at Kings Dominion back in the day?

It's a shame they had to fill in that beautiful lake!

The Voyage at Holiday World and Titan at SFOT. With the Voyage, it is something else when you are driving seemingly through nowhere and all of a sudden the top 1/3 of a coaster pops above the hills/treeline. Then as you drive further you see the full lift hill and how high off the ground it is. The first time I saw it I was speechless, then I wanted to abandon all logical reasoning by pulling off to the side of the road, and run straight to it....With Titan it was pretty much the same minus the pulling over part.

Ride count on the Voyage: 40 Most consecutive rides on the Voyage: 36 Day after thigh bruises from airtime: Priceless
Okay, i'll bite. When i work at CP in '05, one of my favorites at night was Top Thrill Dragster. It's a very clean design and the simple white lighting adds to it.

I drive in & out of Boston, so I ride coasters to relax!

I will probably be the only one but iam going to say for me has to be el-toro. Just the way if you stand in that section you can see most of the ride around you.

I agree. Rebel Yell doesn't look the same now that the lake has been filled in (except for the small part by Anaconda) and covered with waterslides.

Lightning Racer = The to dual duel tracks
Wildcat = The turn that wraps around the lift
Loch Ness Monster = Interlocking loops, rock enclosed helix
Big Bad Wolf = Turn swoops over lake
Kumba = Loop wraps around lift
Tatsu = Drop wraps around tower
Superman Krypton Coaster + Rattler = The cliffs...wow.
Revolution at SFMM looks like a lot of fun and I love how it is now entangled in vegetation. Also Cliffhanger at Ghost Town, nothing like seeing a roller coaster on top of a mountain.
Although it's so rough it's unridable, Iron Wolf looks impressive because it's a lot of ride in a very small footprint. Too bad I'll never get on that headache maker again.

I have to agree but what i like most about Eltoro is when you see that first drop. There is no woodie in the world with a more impressive first drop.

Anything that romps through the woods. Nothing beats seeing only trees and the highest points of the coaster you are climbing the lift/cresting the first hill on. Such as GAdv in the early 80's when Runaway (Mine) Train was mostly wooded, the trees in the middle and surrounding Rolling Thunder's back stretch. Or perhaps Grizzly in it's pre-Hurler existence! I'd love to ride more like those! Anyone still recommend Beast or has it hit too uncomfortable to ride? *** Edited 9/26/2007 2:58:33 AM UTC by jshorerzd***

El Toro a woodie? ok ok.. DEVO was right I guess...

American Eagle! It's still beautiful, and you gotta admit, gives a better ride than most woodies from the 80's/late 70's.

Any Anton/Intamin Shuttle loop. Just love watching them (miss you Tidal Wave).

Orient Express was a great site, just that bright red track peeking through the trees...

Voyage for sure! I also agree with MF at night, and Great America's American Eagle at night.

I love the look of the Beast, and I've always had a strange obsession with the second half of Mantis, even though I won't ride the thing anymore.
I'm glad to see Mantis finally got a mention. That is one great looking ride IMO. Day or night. I love the chaser lights on the lift. Unfortunately, it's not a "must ride" for me and I skip it often, but I always find myself staring at it.

I cast a vote for Mean Streak too. That ride just looks so imposing and magestic. It's freakin' huge. If only it rode as well as it looks. Still, for me, no trip to CP is complete without a lap on Mean Streak.

At home at Worlds of Fun the Ones that IMO are Aesthetically Striking were and are:

Orient Express - Same reason why Nessie is Aesthetically striking and plus the fact it was at the front of the park.

Mamba - Always dominates the skyline as it sits on the highest spot (at ground level from Oceans of Fun near the Monsoon Entrance Mamba looks like it is at least 250 feet tall when its only 205 feet tall.) at Worlds of Fun and its big look gets people excited to ride it.

The Patriot - I love that white stripe they use on the spine of the track, it sets it apart from the other Beemers out there.

Spinning Dragons - Just watching this one for a while makes you really want to ride it. I waited to go in to the Lore of the Vampire Haunted house for 45 minutes and I spent most all that time watching it. It seem to keep calling my name to ride it. So what I did after I went through that haunted house, was waited for 25 minutes to ride this machine. It is always fun to ride on it.

Now about another park I go to alot. That park is Silver Dollar City. The coaster that is Aesthetically Striking there is Wildfire. What really makes WF Striking is the up close and personal view of the Cobra Roll from the deck and the Panoramic Backdrop of Table Rock Lake in the background.

Chris Knight

Pepsi Max: The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. It absolutely dominates the entire park and surrounding area.

I'd have to say Magnum is the most photogenic coaster. I personally think Magnum's train design coupled with the color scheme of the ride is just stellar. The up close photos of the train on the bunny hills or swooping around the pretzel loop are the best. Of course, you also can't beat the shots with the lake in the background either.
