You're describing every single safety system ever made. The magnets can't go anywhere, they're bolted to the train. The LSM's are bolted to the track. How could that fail?

Putting faith in a system that, in theory, SHOULD work as designed, is a risky plan.

Could be, although if the coaster is going to open soon, I would think that the brakes would be installed and ready for testing. It seems to take a few months to properly calibrate a computer system for a high-tech steel coaster.
I would assume they would have the set up simmalar to TTD. Train one launches, and until that train clears the sensor just past the crest of the top hat, then train two moves into launch position.
If there were to be power failure, the ride would roll back, but still have enough room to halt on the flat track where it was.

That's like saying what if the wheels fall off, the track breaks and an earthquake swallows it all whole. Hundreds of LSM's aren't going to fail, and the magnets are bolted to the train in a way that is total overkill. I mean, those things are going to take the brunt of force that will send the train 70 mph.

And what if something were to happen to "un-bolt" those items? Highly unlikely but still possible is all I'm saying.

Yea, but TTD does not have a LSM lift hill. It's like comparing apples to oranges.
But its the same concept. A train cannot advance to the launch zone until a train clears the top hat (In TTD's Case). In Maverick's case, once the train crests the top of the LSM lift hill, the train in waiting zone 2 should move forward so it can be ready to go up the hill. This way if a power failure should occour, the fins will act as breaks, and there will be no train in the path of the rolling back train. *** Edited 3/1/2007 9:31:07 PM UTC by Coaster Krazy***

I am still in shock that cedarpoint is spending so much time and effort on theming a ride.
I wish they could theme all of the rides in the park. To me, the theming really adds to the ride.
