$200,000 a year spent at Disney?

It’s probably more not waiting in line with the general public. I imagine famous people can’t just go hang out at Disneyland without being swamped.

Yeah, exactly. I don't think they're doing as much of a "tour" as they are paying for a cast member to shuttle them from place to place without being bothered by the GP. Basically doing the Lightning Lane Plus Plus.

Hi

VIP tours are exactly that LL++. I’ve been on one it was great, if 200k was a rounding error in my net worth I would do it always too.

So what is Nick Cannon's excuse.

Promoter of fog.

Dude makes $100 million per year. He’s plenty famous, which I can’t wrap my head around either.

I honestly have no idea who he is, and after googling him just now, I still don't.

Hi

DoubleMeatTaco:

Isn't that a one of a time type of thing?

Absolutely not. It's a "I don't want to have to deal with ever figuring this out or waiting in lines and stuff. Here is some money, make that go away." Remember: this is someone for whom $5K is change-in-the-couch-cushions.

My wife is from Baltimore, and we met Cal Ripken Jr. with his family by themselves at Astro Orbiter. It was just us and them, no Plaids, no other people. I can't remember why no one else was there--maybe it was a bad weather day and close to rope drop? I'm not sure. She didn't have anything for him to sign other than her Monorail Pilot license, and he very graciously signed that.

Later the same trip, I ended up standing behind Pierce Brosnan in line in Pieces of Eight--he was buying a plastic sword for one of his kids, and just standing in line like a normal person, nary a Plaid in sight. No one paid him any attention, but as soon as he walked out the CMs behind the counter started "Ohmygoddoyouknowhowthatwas"ing.

Ripken is taller than you'd think. Brosnan? Shorter. Much.

Point being garden-variety celebrities are, well, garden variety in LA and Orange County. It takes a bit more to move the needle I guess.

That sounds like a cool trip! Mind if I ask when this was? I only ask because Cal Ripken hasn't played baseball in 20 years. Pierce Brosnan hasn't been Bond for roughly the same period of time. Their peak popularity was long ago. Nick Cannon is seen on the Masked Singer by 5 million people each week.

I'm not denying that celebrities might just mill about Disneyland. I personally haven't seen any on my 5+ trips there. Then again I probably couldn't spot most celebrities that wouldn't need to be on a VIP tour.

Well, the kids were probably 5 and 7, and they are 23 and 25 now.

Yeah, I'm getting old.

And just because you didn't see anyone in plaid, doesn't mean they didn't have anyone with them. With enough money, you can have private guide/security in plain clothes near by who will step in if a crowd gathers. They let you be yourself unless you need assistance. There are many levels of service you can hire for your trip and it would all be based on how much you do or do not want to be bothered by guests.

So right near their respective peaks. I stand corrected.

By the way, getting old beats the alternate.

Of course! My point was that in Southern California it’s not exactly shocking to see a “famous person” out and about, and folks sometimes let them be.

I hear there are outside contractors that can provide this service at a fraction of the cost!

What about oil changes in the parking lot for celebrities?

Im over here still stuck on the irony of being Mad when people own SUVs, but then taking 20 cruises which are far worse for the environment.

Then having the audacity to call yourself 'Friend to the environment*'.

*exclusions apply when I can justify using things absolutely terrible for the environment for my personal enjoyment

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened.

I just about strained my neck watching that non sequitur whizz by.

I don't really get mad about things. And it's 25 cruises. Enjoy this piece of Norwegian cake.
