# of trains on B:TR's?

How come some B:TR clones have 8 cars, but others, like Le Vampire have only 7 cars?

What you refer to as a car, is generally called a row on a B&M or other invert. Why have some less or more rows than others is a mystery to me.

Any difference in train length will change the speed of the ride, even slightly. If the ride was not re-engineered to account for this (as I doubt they were) then yes, there will be a small difference between the back row on your normal B:TR and the back row on LeVampire.

For bonus points, what was or is the coaster that had a train with one row fewer than the other(s)? I can't remember which it was, but I'm pretty sure it was a B&M. I remember reading it in Roller Coasters of America by Todd Throgmorton (sp?) way back in the day.

Smaller trains mean:

a) front and back row are closer to center of mass (which is part of why Intamin hypers have much more air than B&M's)

b) less resistance to friction (slower speed towards the end of the ride)

c) less capacity (duh)

d) less weight to support (also duh)

I've ridden several B:TR clones and Le Vampire in the back and there really isn't a noticable difference in intensity. I'm sure if you measured forces you'd see a slight difference, but it's not something you're really going to notice. The only logical reasoning behind seven rows instead of eight is saving money. La Ronde clearly doesn't care about capacity since they only run one train on Le Vampire anyway.

Look at the pics. I could be a mirror image of the SFMM version. If so, it is a clone of the one at SFStl- thus it is still a clone. ;)

Because it is the exact same layout as all the other B:TR's and Great White. It may be mirrored however.

I've been on the Vampire many times, and it is a mirrored. The difference is that the Vampire drops tot he right.
